only made it here once during my visit to Charlotte this summer. Fine spot for a wide variety of bottle available both at room temp and cold. Also there is a moderate amount of draft pours for consumption on premises. Owner was friendly and full of general and local beer info. They sell a moderate selection of snacks/salsa/sauces etc. But you go here for the quality BA worthy beer options. Well worth a visit if you are local or visiting. A cool beer boutique in a fun and funky neighborhood. Go and enjoy

A re-review...

When I first reviewed this kick ass spot, it was just a bottle shop. Not that there's anything wrong with that - it was solid. Times have changed - they continuously have a great variety of beers on draft now, brews you don't see anywhere else. The space is tiny and overflowing, but they're in the midst of an expansion & will soon have deli foods too. The best thing about the place - the people. They guys running the joint could not be cooler. It's a beer geeks dream - these guys know beer, they can talk with you about anything beer related. This has become one of my favorite spots to grab a beer - in the country. Check 'em out.

They now have food - and it's fantastic.

The only store in Charlotte where you'll constantly find folks doing a share. This is my favorite hangout in Charlotte.

Corner of the building behind the Cajun place in NoDa. A neat old brick store front. Looks like the owners are from my neck of the woods, Michigan. Solid mix of local, national and import craft. Sixers and singles. Though you may need to really pick through the coolers to make sure you don't miss something. Or you could just ask the workers, they were helpful and well aware of what was in there. They do seem to get a good bit of hard to find/low volume stuff.

I think they had room for about 8 drafts, they seem to rotate quickly because of the small bar area and nice late hours. Usually some real nice stuff on tap. A chill atmosphere compared to the other more bar like atmospheres in the area. One tv, but mostly it has the sound off and the noise is people talking.

Something that was needed in this part of town I believe. Brawleys-esque. I like it.

Cool little dive on the edge of NoDa. Very small, but has enough room for good craft selection and a small bar with 6 or 8 taps, I think.

Owner was really friendly, even shared a Westbrook Gose that he picked up the week before.

He really seems to know his stuff, and he was really well educated on sours, which I was pleased with.

There is a nice little area to sit near the front.

Overall, when I'm in NoDa, I will stop in.

EDIT: Went in for the first time in about a year and a half. My buddy was there having a bottle share. Jason (The owner) would bring us cups to use. Pretty cool that they would let you do that in the middle of the shop.

They opened up the other side for food now. This place is kicking' it

Wish I lived closer!

EDIT of EDIT: Im a regular. Best place in Charlotte area for brews. Love it. Great vibe, but even greater people.

The two things that draw me to this particular beer store: location and 8 rotating taps.
They always have superb beers on tap, a lot seasonals. I had Hopslam on draft here a week ago.
Their location, in the NoDa neighborhood of Charlotte, is great for grabbing a beer or two, and then barhopping. There are several bars/restaurants with great draft lists to check out within walking distance.
The store is rather small with a limited selection, but it is very organized and the quality of the selection is great.

Salud is a little shop of a style which I've never really experienced until I got to Charlotte where there seemed to be a few. Salud being the coolest of the bunch. It's a little store on the corner of a nondescript little line of storefronts. Stepping inside you're immediately greeted by what I would call a small lounge area. A couple couches and chairs make for a small seating area. Both walls are lined with bottles for sale, lots of local NC stuff along with a shelf unit in the middle of the store. Heading toward the back, the checkout counter is to the left and a small 5-6 seat bar off to the right. It's cozy and loaded with goodies. Like being in a friend's basement for a couple beers. Music is jamming at a level loud enough to hear but quiet enough to speak over. I seem to recall Ghostface...

The owner was tending bar and taking care of the shop while we were visiting. He was ready to talk at the drop of a hat. Cool guy, letting us know what's new, talking about some plans for a possible expansion, and giving us all types of tips on Charleston, SC. There were 6 or 7 people shopping around and drinking when I stopped in and they all seemed to know each other to some degree. 10 taps were pouring, all written on a chalkboard behind the bar, mostly local stuff, but a couple out of state selections as well. Growlers are filled and inexpensive. The service was great, selection very well thought out, and the vibe was right on; comfortable and fun. I can't recommend Salud highly enough.

You won't find a friendlier store owner that not only cares a lot about the craft beer world but also cares a lot about the customer experience. He goes out of his way to introduce himself and assist in any selections.

Now with 10 draft lines, whats better than getting a cold draft and shopping for beer? The answer is nothing.

Also, while they have bottles everywhere - VERY family friendly!! Highchairs provided and strollers are welcome! As a parent this is a huge deal to me.

A very fine selection of bottles, including a sour section. Beers from a bunch of national breweries, a good selection of local brews, and even some selections from my neck of the woods. The options did seem somewhat random, though, but I'm only seeing what sits or was sitting on the shelf.

What was on the shelf was without a doubt, quality stuff. Can't speak to all of the local stuff, but the wider distribution stuff was far from flagship-only; definitely thug easing this place gets seasonal and special releases.

The place is medium in size, and we were in on a rainy slow day. They are apparently adding food, but were awaiting final approval for that side of the business. Once we started chatting with the bartender (of about 10 tap offerings), we found a friendly attitude and helpful nature. The place was fairly laid back, but did have a feeling that you'd be better off if you were in-the-know, which is neither good nor bad.

I can see why this place is so well regarded online here. Selection and quality quite high, friendly staff, grab a brew as to shop for some - quite nice.

So glad I made the detour to stop here while passing through Charlotte. Looks like a place that I would frequent if I lived in the area. Cool vibe going on, my kind of music, and a wide array of bottles to choose from. There is also about 8-10 (?) taps going for tastes or growler fills. I picked up several bottles of Wicked Weed as well as a recommendation of Burial's Scythe Rye IPA. The guys working there were very helpful. Definitely make a stop if you go through Charlotte.

Always a great selection on tap. Love that I can get a draft and shop the bottles (can't do that in TX). Great bottle selection. Always friendly service.

<update June 2015> Even better than before. Expanded to include (good!) food. Awesome selection of hard to find stuff. Staff is top notch. Truly one of the best. Can't wait to see where this goes...

What a great place to drink and purchase beer. Jason is very friendly and REALLY knowledgeable. They always have something good and different on draft, and they have couches with 8 bit nintendo to play. Pretty sure I have the high score for Duck Hunt.

So, I rated this a perfect 5. It is a small bottle shop in the NoDa neighborhood of Charlotte. The selection is one of the best in town. You're able to meet up with a buddy, enjoy some beer on draft (or from the fridge), and just hang out. The staff are knowledgable and eager to assist you (or just strike up a conversation with you about beer, old school hip hop, or the Charlotte Hornets). You're able to bring in bottles to share with other customers. My favorite shop in Charlotte and I will definitely be back.
