There are 16 Consumers Beverage Center locations in the Buffalo NY area. This is one of the larger locations. It also is one of 7 locations that have taps to fill growlers. This location has 16 taps for growler fill ups. The store is a bit utilitarian, but who cares I'm looking at all the beautiful beer!

Their staff is very happy to answer any questions about beer and the products they carry. They are also on hand to help with growler fills or refills, bottle returns, and carrying large products to your car. A customer bathroom would be a nice addition.

The selection at this location is outstanding. They have a large selection of American micro brews as well as well as a large selection of Belgian and German beers. Canada, England, Ireland, Scotland, Mexico, Poland, Japan, China, Italy, France, Lithuania, Australia and the Czech Republic are all represented. [Forgive me if I left someone out] All the major macros are here as well as a small selection of glassware, bottle openers, beer cozies, etc. You can find most beers in 4, 6, 12, 18, 24, and 30 packs. They also carry kegs, mini kegs, and some singles as well as a constantly rotating line up of draft beer on there16 taps for growers.

Of all the beer stores in the Buffalo area to buy beer, Consumer's Beverage center tends to be the most reasonable.

Checked this outlet out while staying in West Seneca. It seemed very organized, bright, asy to find te various types of beer. Awide arrange of beers available in all varieties, with singles available, both in the cooler and on the shelf. Good selection of NY craft and big beers from Regional breweries. whieleI noticed a bulk of their selection carried over from store to store, this one had a few odd ones.

Stopped by here a couple of times this weekend - once on the way to a camping trip and once on the way home for the traditional Ontarian-heading-back-home beer haul. (For any Canadians looking for an easy beer run to the Buffalo area, this one has the advantage of not being too far from the Peace Bridge, the quicker of the Niagara border crossings).

Decent selection of local and bigger US crafts in singles, sixers and some good growler fill options. Lots of Dogfish, Smuttynose, Great Lakes, Bear Republic, Long Trail, Magic Hat, Stone, Great Divide, a few Pretty Things and Founders, Three Floyds, most of the Southern Tier line-up, Pyramid - to name a few. Some mixed packs as well (Smutty, Ithaca, Otter Creek). Bottles are pretty fresh from the look of things.

Staff are young, a few of which have a good knowledge of brews. Cashier highly recommended a few of the brews I had put in my cart, but generally speaking I didn't get a chance to chat with many of them.

Some brewing equipment, a few hops and malt extracts, but not much - the best selection in the area is Niagara, in my humble opinion.

Prices, like those of other CB's in the area aren't bad, a bit higher than Wegman's and cheaper than Premier Gourmet (for example, AleSmith's Yulesmith was 11.99 at Premier, 9.99 at CB). Some two for one deals and sales.

About 20 minutes from the border, and with a decent selection, this CB is one I'd return to for convenience, rather than selection - the CB on Transit road is better in that regard, but a bit out of the way. If you're just looking for some good craft brews, this place works just fine.

A buddy of mine was in the area for work on 14 Mar 2011 and offered to stop in here for me.

Since R doesn't know much about beer (yeah something is wrong with the guy), I gave him a list of things that I thought he might find there. When he got there, he realized that some thing I had asked for they didn't stock (Captain Lawrence), but they had a number of other things that I hadn't asked for.

So after talking with the staff, he gave me a call and put me on the line with Jason, who was happy to talk me through their available beers. I told him that I wanted to focus on IPAs and stouts limited to the northeast and he was happy to oblige. R ended up with about 20 or so beers to bring back to me.

Overall good selection and great customer service. Thanks also to R for being a great go between.

visited this place the other day for the first time even though i love 15 minutes away. i stopped in because they just recently started carrying homebrew supplies and i needed some yeast for a cider. they had simple grains, hops, extracts, dry yeasts, not much in the way of supplies, a few simple things. not enough to get you started brewing however. staff not too knowledgable about brewing, mostly younger folk.

beer selection is average for the area. mostly local brewed sixers and bombers, Southern tier, great lakes, ithaca, etc. some other bigger name micros, but nothing i couldnt get at wegmans. 16 tap growler fills i believe and they always have a lot of good things to chose from. huge selections of anything macro.

this is a good place to go if you need some staple brews and something needed quickly for brewing. there are better selections at other consumers not far away.

Stopped here over Christmas while visiting my parents in the Ellicottville area. This place is much closer to where I was at then Premier was so I decided to check it out.

Pretty good selection, found some things that i could get in VA at one time but sold out fast. They had most of Southern Tiers lineup on the shelves including some of my wants like Gemini. Found Stone's 13th still on the shelves as well. They also had a good special on Smutty Baltic Porter for buy one get one free. Growler station was a nice addition although I wasn't looking for growlers. The coolers were pretty stocked with things like Great Lakes as well.

Overall this was a pretty decent store but didn't eliminate my need to go to Premier Gourmet that day. Their ST selection was better then Premier's but Premier had the better selection of imports and Belgians like Fantome and Cantillon. Did not see single 12 oz beers for sale here either besides the bargain bin that contained a lot of Guinness.

Overall this would be a very good store when looking for local beers like ST, Ithaca and Middle Ages or even Great Lakes for that matter. If I were looking for vintage or hard to find beers or single 12oz beers I would still make the trip to Premier.

I love the selection and as the previous posters have said the store has great selections including their growler station. However, and to me it is big, is that they do not accept credit cards...that is just weak. It obviously is because the owner is not wanting to pay a couple percentage points to the credit card company...what about service to your customers? I would believe that they have to lose more sales than the fees associated to credit card sales that they would incur. Their Williamsville/Klein Road store accepts them, so what's the deal???Who is going to drive out there for that? I was just in Wegmans on McKkinley and they have a new craft and import beer section behind the produce area with quite a nice selection...from belgians, german, english, domestic crafts...I'll go there unless I'm looking for something very specific. If I'm not in a hurry I'll go to Premier...It's just the point.

This is definitely the best place to purchase beer in the southtowns. There is a fairly good selection from Lagunitas to Victory to many imports. They have a large refrigerator with a rather large amount of these beer contained in it which, in my experience, is usually a lacking feature. There is a decent selection of bombers but I would like to see more singles being offered (I like to fill mixed six packs when I shop for beer).

The people working there are very young (most of them that I have seen there may not even be of drinking age) and know very little to nothing about the brews that they are selling. That being said, they are kind and prompt.

The best place around, though I have been to much better places with more variety and a more knowledgeable staff. I also find it pretty lame that they do not accept credit cards at this day in age, seeing as I rarely carry cash on me at any given moment.

Consumers is a great local beverage store,

Well-lit, quick service,

Tons of variety in micro-brews in both 6ers and individual bottles, (4 aisles of individual bottles) the only downside being that they aren't all cold... but hey, the cooler is still gigantic. The extensive growler station is beautiful

Macros are priced well, cold and warm.

Staff is hit and miss... always eager to help, but not always knowledgeable... as many are under-age, and just dont have the experience.

But if you need anything beyond macros in WNY, consumers is the place to go.

after working at this place for months, i feel inlove with beer and then trying every beer i could. before i found the premier gourmet this was my place to go to get any beer i could think of. the best part of this store is the 16 taps, which u can get a list of whats on tap on their website.

http://www.consumersbeverages.com/brew/whatsontap.html?store=12

the only thing that is a downside to this place is they only take cash, and for someone who really only carries my card, its a bummer. otherwise by far the best place in the southtowns.

The first time I stopped in here I was a bit overwhelmed. So after a repeat visit, here's my review.

There's a great selection of NY micros, and many popular breweries as well. Examples are Ommegang, Ithaca, Middle Ages, Southern Tier, Flying Bison, Wagner Valley, Boulder Brewing, Stone, Cisco, Blue Point, Great Divide, Southampton, Sly Fox, Jolly Pumpkin, Weyerbacher, Smuttynose, etc... Nice selection of Belgian beers as well from Cantillon, Rochefort, St. Bernardus, Chimay, and Abbaye Des Rocs to name a few. Also a selection of German and British brews, which I didn;t peruse too heavily. Also about 12 or 15 beers on tap for growlers - prices are approx. $8-$20 per growler. Service is OK - not really staffed by beer aficionados. Kegs for the growlers seem to go quick. I missed my shot at Skye Pilot over the weekend. If there's a better beer store in the Southtowns area, I'll be thrilled when I find it. For now, this works very well. More than enough selection and fair prices that make it difficult to stop spending, especially after being conditioned to PA prices. I expect this to be a weekly stop for a while.

In a little plaza by 219 and Rich Stadium (Go Bills). We went around 7:30 on a tuesday night. There was no one in the store except two clerks. One was 19 and knew nothing of beer (except macros) the other was older and had some great opinions. This place had a great selection of local favorites (Saranac, Ellicottville, Southern Tier, Flying Bison) and many popular micros (Rogue, Flying Dog, Murphys, Youngs, Great Lakes, etc). They also have 15 beers on tap that you can get in a growler to go for 10 bucks. You can check their website to see what is on tap. They also carry every macro you can think of along with a great selection of winter seasonals. This is the best beer store I have found on the south side of Buffalo, so if you are in the area or passing through it is really worth checking out.

A place right down from my in-laws house so I had to go check it out.I went there Saturday afternoon and there were alot of people loading up on macro swill for partys and such one good thing is that all all micro and import beer are situated right in front as you walk in, floor displays, shelves and in the cooler off to the left.Good selection of NY beers Souther Tier with a huge amount of Un Earthly IPA and Jahva Stout,Cooperstown,Sackets Harbor, and Middle Ages to name a few with some good Belgian and German imports. The fact they dont take credit cards kinda sucks I dont carry alot of cash on me but I will have to remember to when going here and the Hamburg location. All in all a good place to get your beer relatively cheap and have a decent selection to choose from.

I am in Buffalo right now on a trip from Connecticut. This is the beer store in Orchard PArk closest to My inlaws. I really dislike the whole NY system of not selling wine and beer together, it makes absolutely no sense to me. Anyway, I looked at the cold selection and saw some decent things, but I asked the guy (20 year old) behind the counter if they had any gourmet or Belgians. He said no, and then said that I should try Blue Moon or go to Erie County, PA!
I was discouraged but I turned around and saw a warm shelf of some good beer. The best on th eshelf was Rochefort 8, for $5.99, but they had Chimay 750ml's for only $6.99! and they had some la Chouffe and Orval and a bunck of other Belgians.

All in all not a bad place; demerits for not knowing what you have got.

Cheers: The atypical Consumers: well lit, organized, and decorated. The other Consumers resemble a seedy dust filled concrete box full of Blue and Bud (except for the one on Eggert, that has good beer, but the trash and dust is still present). Micro cases are within sight line of door, no stumbling around trying to find the drinkable beer. Full range of NY micros at totally reasonable prices. Nice selection of imports, 3 styles of Youngs present, some Belgians, and a full range of Sam Smiths at $3. Similar selection to Eggert, minus the imports. Easy to find location off the 219, easy on, easy off and you won't spill a drop.

Jeers: The kid behind the counter in the Bills shirt wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between Youngs Oatmeal Stout and Southern Tier IPA except for one is in the can and one is from some foreign country or something like that. Tequiza given mid range shelf space. Belgians were in the cooler. Located in the village of Orchard Park. Nowheres close to Ralph Wilson Stadium. They don't provide refill shuttle service to and from Bills games. I wouldn't advise knocking back a couple and driving here to get restocked, unless you like meeting up with bored suburban police officers who would like nothing better than to ruin your good time.
