Another 3 Sheeps beer from March Madness 2016, got most of these 3 sheeps beers from Nick U, dude has good taste. Color is that dark brown and blacck that is just a shade away from being complete black. Lighter brown head 1/3". Aroma did lean on the rum pretty hard, was boozier than the abv would lead you to believe. Pulls a good amount of dark fruit fig, prune, raisin notes alongside the sweeter rum barrel.
Taste took like every kind of bitterness but hop bitterness together that drove the beer, there was a hot booze bitter, a dark fruit bitter, a rum tinged bitter wood feel to it. Its weird for me how rum is often described as this sweet and smooth booze train, but here, I got way more bitterness from it than I would think it was gonna kick down. As I got used to it, the lower carbonation helped to finally smooth things over. Could have just clashed with what i had before it, who knows. Didn't jump up to the top tier of rum barreled beers (CCB/5050) in this tasting.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into an enlarged snifter. 2015 version.
A: Pours deep, deep brown/black and leaves a couple fingers of tan head that slowly fade to a tan layer atop the beer. (4.25)
S: Dark chocolate, licorice, raisins, oak, ginger, dates. Nice aroma with a lot going on. (4.5)
T: Oak, rum, dates, dark chocolate, ginger, a bit of easy drinking alcohol in the finish. (4.25)
M: Medium body, creamy, low to medium carbonation. Works well with this beer. (4.25)
O: Solid beer with plenty of rum influence. Different and it's nice. Fairly easy drinking but on the decadent side. (4.5)
