Pours a reddish brown color. 1 finger tan head. The head retention isn't the best, though not surprising. There's no lacing on the glass.
The nose is a beautiful mixture of caramel, toffee, plum, and raisin. So beautiful.
Taste - There's a good amount of caramel here, and it hits up front with toffee. The backside seems to be more plum and raisin, with the caramel and toffee still mixed in.
Thick and full bodied. Very little booze burn, but there's just a pleasing hint of it here. You know this is a sipper.
I love a good Quad, and this is for sure one of them. Delicious!

Tasted in a snifter from draft at Beer Bazaar on October 23, 2019. Belgian quadrupel brewed with figs and molasses aged in rye whiskey barrels. Recommended.

12 oz bottle, 10/2/19, 13.2% ABV.
Crane snifter.

Deep purple with slight mahogany tint, and a 1/2 finger of off-white head to start that quickly recedes to a thin bubbly ring.

Aroma is deep, intoxicating, very sappy and sweet, wet. Bourbon oak, dry oak, and slight pool chemical. Slight molasses candy and licorice, some sweet grape sucker and caramel.

Flavor brings rich caramel and molasses, then more molasses bordering on grape sucker, prune/fig, brandy, cocoa, rye spiciness, banana, slight citrus, dark berry, and heavy rum and whiskey.

Feel is hot and searing, with heavy alcohol and lots of burn, with woody dryness, some slight puckering, with lots of dryness and woodiness on the finish.

Overall an outstanding, wonderful barrel aged Quad. Would have it many times over.

Released 12/7/18; drank 5/2/19 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque purple/brown appearance.

A violent pour yielded a minimal khaki head; frothy lace.

Leather, plum, oak, mild bourbon heat & faint cream notes in the nose.

Thick, creamy mouthfeel.

Leather, cream, plum & oak flavors up front; mild bourbon notes on the finish.

Robust, flavorful but balanced; an excellent take on the style.

I'd have another...

Appearance - The 2016 beer was a deep merky brown color with an off-white head.

Smell - I was stunned by how much banana was in the nose.

Taste - The yeast was an explosion of banana taste. Prunes and light black licorice notes also come through. The sweetness is well balance with spicy whiskey notes in back.

Mouthfeel - The body seemed thin, but this did not take away from my enjoyment of the taste.

Overall - This was a great example of the style.

Didn't know what to expect here. When I think quad, I was expecting a different taste. I found it a bit on the sweet side. Notes of fruit. the head disappeared quickly. Smooth feel overall. bit of malt flavor in the back. The higher ABV (12.0) is again, well hidden by the sweetness of this brew.

Had on tap. This was a quad to behold, both in how the belgian yeast, malt, and base was spot on, but even more so how the fig, molasses, and rye barrel seamlessly added another dimension to this beauty. Fantastic taste, truly world class, with contrasting dark fruit sweetness and rye and wood spice and sharpness, with molasses bittersweet nature bridging. Supporting toffee, vanilla, and booze round out well. Feel is a little thin, but highly drinkable given abv and weight of all the flavor. The wife loved this one!

12oz bottle, served in a snifter. Dark cola brown body, two finger offwhite head, good retention, splotchy lacing. Smell is figs, molasses, honey, earth, mineral, Belgian yeast esters, a bit of hot whiskey, light vanillin. Flavour follows, more of the whiskey heat on the finish, slight sweet and spicy burn. Esters, molasses, dark fruit, brown sugar, figs. It's pretty much a sweeter quad, though not as well integrated as I would like; especially given the heat on this. Sweet, slightly earthy finish that leaves a spicy burn. Mouthfeel is lighter medium bodied, a bit thin, appropriately carbonated for the style. An interesting American take on the quad; the figs and molasses add a lot of sweetness to it, that perhaps may have also added a bit of fusel heat. The rye barrel is nice here, however.

Ruby brown (24+) pour from bottle dated 2/19/17; fizzy, quick off-white/lite beige cap with good clarity underneath it; moderately heavy lacing; micro dot bubbles for a retained cap; solid ring; medium thick glossy legs sheet the glass. Aromas of molasses, brown sugar, raisins, figs, and a bit of booze. Sweet figgy jam-like granny used to make-on entry; sugared raisins, molasses, candy caramel malty base with a little rye barrel/alcohol; sweet figgy finish. Medium full jammy body; moderate minus carbonation; smooth satisfying velvety feel; slightly warming; some rye barrel dryness in the finish. Really great if not a tad too sweet; ABV present but not boozy; Dry rye Barrel notes offset by sugary fig flavors/linger; a sipper for sure.

22 ounce bottle into a goblet. Had 4/1/17.

Pours a fairly dark ruby/amber, hazy and somewhat opaque, with a short head and a good amount of foamy lacing. The smell is figs, malt, whiskey, rye, dates, plums, light smoke and oak, a hint of, um, bacon. The taste pretty much follows along- malt, figs, rye, whiskey, dates, plums, raisins, oak, some molasses, light alcohol. Smooth, somewhat creamy, a solid full body, well carbonated.

This is a big winner, one I’ll buy any time the opportunity arises. Great flavor and aroma, the flavors really pop. The barrels were prominent but not overly so. Terrific beer.

22 oz. bottle that says “rye whiskey” something something on the label. The word “rye” is like maximum12 fly paper. Splat. Into my palm. Batch 2016.

The pour looks nothing like a Russian River….oh. Crap. Well, it’s dark, brownish red. Smells like rum-soaked raisins, though I know it’s not rum. No beer smell. That’s OK.

Veneration is a _fill_in_the_blank rye whiskey aged beer. Hard to tell which kind of beer, because the rye has throttled it with extreme prejudice. The figs – which I hate – play off well with the strong hit of molasses & rye, leaving an overall impression of dark, sweet, & heavy. The only nod to beer – this is beer, right? – is sugar-smothered fruitiness in the finish that adds loads of sweetness to an already insulin-endorsed liquid. It’s a nice thing to sip. I like to sip.

One of the better beers I’ve had that wasn’t actually a beer. Very good.

This was exactly what I thought it should be. A very tasty beverage for sure. This one of the best beers that 3 Sheeps has put out. Would definitely get this one again !

Appearance: murky dark brown with very little head that dissipated to nothing.

Aroma: smells very sweet. Picked up figs, dark fruits, and brown sugar. Faint notes of whiskey at the finish.

Taste: very sweet and sticky. It's like a liquid dessert. Starts out with strong rich dark fruits including figs. Can taste notes of fig Newton bars with a slight biscuity flavor. The rye whisky comes in at the finish as the sweetness really overshadows it at the beginning.

Mouthfeel: full bodied and sticky. You notice the 13% ABV as there is a slight burn in the back.

Overall: this is a treat best shared with a friend. Delicious, love the notes of figs and the rye whiskey at the finish.

Really excited to try this one since I think 3 Sheeps really cranks out some good beers. Not a huge Belgian fan but the fact that is was barrel aged pulled me in.

Much darker than I thought it would be. Very sweet on the nose with a strong barrel character. The bourbon smell didn't surprise me as the few 3 Sheeps BA offerings I have had are very strong in this area. Taste was toffee, belgian yeast and sweetness. Bourbon presence was also very noticeable on the taste. A very good beer now but I think it will get even better with age.

Poured 22oz bottle into snifter. Very dark brown color with a 1.5 finger tan head that quickly fades and leaves a few lines of lacing on my glass. Aroma has sweet molasses, figs, other dark fruits, toffee and caramel. Notes of rye whisky, vanilla, and fresh baked banana bread. Flavor is scrumptious with plenty of sweet molasses, brown sugar, barrel notes of rye whisky, caramel, some softer vanilla. Sugar plums, dates, fig, banana bread flavor round it off. Medium feel with good carbonation and a smooth finish. It is without a doubt delicious, but I think it could improve with a bit of age.

Awesome new beer from Sheboygan, do not sleep on this one. A nice combination of the fruity esters you'd like in a quad mixed with the sweetness of the molasses and figs. A nice little burn from the rye whisky barrels just to let you know it's there but presented in a pleasant way. Drinks way too easy for a 13% ABV beer; don't sleep on this one, very delicious beer.
