Obsidian black with a beige-brown head.

Aroma of burnt grains and smoke, some molasses, ash.

The wheat really pokes through on this one. Dark roastiness up front with notes of coffee and slick carafe, followed by a soft wheat profile and slight chocolate-ash.

Feel is heavily carbonated yet still brings a very dry character to the finish in the form of roast.

Overall, not a bad beer - full of character, I just wish it had more sweetness.

Pours a black color. 1/3 inch head of a tan color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of piney hops, slight sweet malt, pale malt, roasted malt, and hint of wheat. Fits the style of an American Dark Wheat Ale. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. There is also a strong roasted malt bitterness. Tastes of piney hops, slight sweet malt, pale malt, roasted malt, slight chocolate, and hint of wheat. Overall, weak appearance, good aroma, body, blend, but the bitterness is a detractor.

This is a really good dark ale. There are a lot of nitro bubbles that were streaming from the glass. The head is a nice off white color about a finger high, depending on the type of glass used .This is a very pleasant stout, that is well put together. This is above average for the style

My first from 3 Sheeps and my 3rd in this style. So, best not to review.
If they were to improve this ale, I'd work on the yeast and add some malt.

Despite this being my only beer from them, I will give 3 Sheeps a micro-review... which I try to give to all brewers, usually by visiting their website. And their story is not too much different than the 8000+ micros in the U.S.... except that there were 75% fewer micros when 3 Sheeps started ten years ago. So they are seniors in this young crowd. I give them some pretty good Overall Hugs for the commitment to brewing the best, to their community and customers and each other. 3 Sheeps doesn't brew much in the Belgian tradition other than a popular quad (which I will look for.)

With a straight black color, this beer is like having straight coffee that is slightly sweet, creamy roasty with robust carbonation. However, it’s very strong and tastes like a regular, one-dimensional Guinness. This beer can be difficult to drink like Guinness. If this beer is suppose to be an American take on the Dunkelweizen, I recommend the Dark Cloud from Mother Earth Brewing in North Carolina as well as the Dunkelweizen from Trader Joe's.

Drank this for Easter yesterday. Didn't finish the bottle, not because it was bad, but because I ate so much like it was Thanksgiving and I just passed out on the couch I was so full.

Pours black, not overly viscous like so many of this color, hit the deep black notes without thick heft, which is as it should be in a wheat beer. Smelled of roast and wheat.

Taste was sweet. Alcohol seemed higher than it was. Still some roast flavors. This couldn't pigeonhole itself. There was roastiness like a porter, sweetness like a milk stout, light body like a wheat, color from a stout etc. . .

Thanks to elkhunter for dropping this amongst a million other beers on me last month.
