Enjoy by 2/5/16.

Appearance: Pitch black body with a thin head of tan foam.

Aroma: Run of the mill pumpkin pie spices with a touch of real pumpkin pulp.

Taste: Strong black malt flavor without being astringent. The spices play into the flavor more than any hops do. Usual pumpkin pie spices that really build in the finish and aftertaste creating a nice vibrancy without being intense. A dark chocolate flavor also comes through in the aftertaste that is a nice compliment to the spices.

Mouthfeel: About medium in body. A bit over-carbonated for a stout. The spices can become a bit much on the palate but it works as a stand-alone beer.

Final Thoughts: Delivers as expected, a mix of stout and pumpkin ale. If you're new to pumpkin ales it will probably blow your mind but its not really any better or worse than anything else in this category. Would I drink it again? Maybe.

Pours midnight black with dark tan head that dissipates at a moderate pace. Aroma of clove, roasted malt, pumpkin spice and raisins. Tastes of pumpkin, caramel malt, spice, and hint of citrus. Medium mouthfeel and a drinkable crisp finish. A delight to drink in the fall.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread/crust, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, pumpkin, and spice notes; with great strength. Taste of big pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread/crust, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/roast/spice bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice, clove, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread/crust, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slightly increasing dryness from bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.5%. Overall this is a delicious pumpkin stout! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, pumpkin, and spice flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/spicy finish. Not super roasty for a stout, but really adequate. Helps showcase the spices better too. The pumpkin fruit and spice presence was exceptional. Great balance with the base beer without overdoing it. A very enjoyable offering.

One of the worst beers I've ever had. Just putrid, a total drain pour. I love pumpkin beers, so I was very excited to try it. It tasted medicinal, like roasted medicine cabinet. Disgusting.

12 oz can, enjoy by 3/11/18. Pours brown with a small creamy brown head that goes to a thin film and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet perfumey and floral pumpkin spice with some roast chocolate malt.

The flavor is sweet perfumey and floral pumpkin spice with some grainy roast chocolate malt. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, way to sweet and perfumey.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a chalice.

Appearance: Pours midnight black with a moderate amount of bubbles. About one finger of tan head that settles into a thin creamy layer.

Smell: A spicy and roasty malt forward aroma with a scent of pumpkin spices and dark roast. Upfront presence of pumpkin spice with a scent of cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. Dark roasted malt with hints of dark chocolate, coffee, smoke, toast, burnt sugar, and yeast. Pretty light on hops. A solid smell.

Taste: Like the smell indicates, a spicy and roasty dark malt driven taste with notes of pumpkin spice and dark roast. Pumpkin spice notes of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. Dark roasted barley malt with notes of cocoa, coffee, toast, smoke, biscuit, yeast, and some burnt sugar. Light hops in the background. A pretty nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate level of carbonation. Creamy, silky, and very smooth.

Overall: A solid combo of a Stout and Pumpkin Ale. Nice roasty malt notes with the pumpkin spice. Needs to get warmer for the full flavor to come through.

Poured a deep black body with brown around the edges and a thin cap of tan head. Good looking, but not outstanding. Scents of pumpkin, roast malt, pie crust, light dark chocolate, maple and coffee and moderate-light levels of sweet spices. Overall impression of aroma is of a nice combination of a stout and a pumpkin ale, with the highlights of both styles shining through and creating a nice, pleasant, rich, balanced whole. Flavor begins with a hit of pumpkin, pumpkin pie filling and pie crust, balanced by flavors of roast malt and bittersweet chocolate. This opens up in the middle with further pumpkin pie flavors, but balanced by a nice hit of roast malt, bittersweet chocolate and coffee with cream. Finish is medium-sweet with notes of rich dark chocolate, pumpkin pie, coffee with cream, pumpkin pie spices, roast malt, pie crust and light alcohol. Aftertaste is light alcohol, pumpkin pie filling and crust, sweet spices, roast malt, chocolate and a bit of coffee. Overall impression of flavor is of a good pumpkin ale, combined with a good stout to create a wonderfully balanced ale. Quite nice. Mouthfeel is mediums bodied with moderate carbonation and a smooth, creamy feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is very nice, quite easy to drink and very pleasant. Overall this is a nice combination of a pumpkin beer and a stout that is wonderfully balanced, deep, quite nicely seasonal, but avoiding the usual pitfalls of pumpkin beers. Very nice and recommended.
