Poured from a can into a pint glass
Look: Muddy brown/amber body with a light brown head
Smell: Subdued
Taste: Very rich caramel and hoppy start with a hint of toasty-ness that quickly fades into a mild bitterness. Very mild for 7.1% ABV
Feel: medium mouthfeel with hints of soft carbonation
Overall: Nice easy drinking dark ale. Would not guess 7.1%.

Pours an effervescent chestnut with 2+ fingers of pillowy tan head. Rings of lacing 7 pretty nice head retention
S: Cakeyness, some wooody & herbal hops once warm
T: Rich maltyness, a little brown sugar, dryness, a little leafy hop as well up front. Brown sugar sweetness, a little drynesss & woody hops as this warms. Finishes dry with a little brown sugar & toastyness, plus just a little leafy hops
MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation
A decent winter war, won't blow you away, but no slouch, ABV is well hidden

[Original rating 2012-11-10] Pours clear red/brown with a thick tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is malt, caramel, spicy hops. Taste is sweet malt with a nice hoppy finish. A great winter ale.

Some bitterness at first and quite hoppy. Very rich and caramelly. Like a hoppy brown ale. I was expecting some spices but mostly on the hoppy side. Pretty good.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass. Red brown color with a nice, brief head and great lacing. Nice dark fruit smell. Taste of dates, dark raisins, figs. A bit boozey, but a nice beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours ruby amber with a small off white head that quickly goes to a thin film that laces the glass.
The aroma is subdued - some slightly roasted sweet chocolate and toffee malt and a little fruit.
The flavor is sweet and toasted caramel toffee malts with some dark fruit and a roast finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, a nice winter warmer.
