Clean, Creamy, Roasted, Smooth

Usually I don’t go for the “nitro” version of a beer on tap, but this new trend of packaged American nitro beers has caught my attention. The label advises to “Pour Like You Mean It!”... not a problem there. This beer is about appearance first and dons a perfect nitro head, so that’s a success. As for how well it works as a Porter, I find it a bit sweeter than expected but balanced enough to knock back. This is not a one and done either.

Okay- sadly this came off draft in the airport in Salt Lake City resulting in a 4% ABV; was expecting the bottled version which is 6%. Not wanting to submit a new version (did I phew-pa?) here is my review:
A - rich Carmel head with dark body
S - hints of coffee, expresso? and chocolate
T - light with nice tones of coffee and chocolate
F - full creamy coating, balanced

Overall a nice beer but I will be looking for the higher grav!

Out of undated 12 oz bottles in Minneapolis in July 2015 and in WY [Yellowstone NP] in June 2017.

Appearance - Pours a deep, dark brown, clear but opaque in the glass, with a very creamy tan head. Excellent retention and leaving a full coat of foam on the sides of the glass.

Smell - Earthy aroma with English hops (seemingly) in the fore and with sweet malts, toffee and coffee.
Taste - Less earthy. Nice malt forward, rich flavor. Hints of cocoa nibs. Medium and dark roasted grains with some nutty character and faint coffee and chocolate. Good, nearly even, bitter sweet balance.

Mouthfeel - Light, creamy body with silky carbonation. Semi-dry finish. Smooth.

Pours dark brown- not black- with a fingernail of tan head that recedes quickly. Nose of smoke and roasted malt. Body follows the nose with charred malt, smoke, and a touch of oak. Missing chocolate or vanilla to add a second dimension. Given it's a nitro, not too creamy of a medium body and low carbonation.
The effect of the nitro wasn't apparent in this beer, which is unusual. The nitro took some roughness off what could've been an odd finish. Not as pretty as nitro beers tend to be. Very interesting label art and a smokey little porter.

Had out of 12oz bottle @ Squatters in the Salt Lake City Airport

Appearance - Pours a deep, dark ruby brown with a tan, 2 finger width head. Fantastic retenttion; waiting for it to die is like watching grass grow. Gets down to about a half finger's worth before I give in to try it.

Smell - Earthy, nutty aroma with touches of chocolate. Much more prominent than the 4% version.

Taste - Follows the nose. Earthy, nutty character akin to walnut shell, with a light cocoa undertone. Finishes much the same.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full body with slick, silky carbonation. Smooth delivery before a semi-dry finish.

Overall - A much better brew than the bastardized 4% version. Same flavor profile, but this is amped up to that next level, and without the watery finish. If you're ever stuck in the SLC airport and looking for a porter, skip the tap version and ask for the bottle.

Pours an effervescent & crimson tinged mahogany with a pinky of tan head. Slightly better than average head retention & lacing

S: Carob, slight smokeyness & cocoa, faint vanilla notes once warm

T: Follows the nose, woody bitterness, a touch of iron as well up front. Carob, smokeyness, faint hints of dark cherry & raisin as this warms, still loads of woody & herbal hops. Finishes a little dry with charred grain &herbal hops, plus cocoa

MF: Medium body, smooth carbonation

Drinks easy, but was hoping for more

Another great brew from the VP of industrial group all the way from Nebraska!

This very nice porter pours a murky dark black with a substantial light tan head that lingers long with excellent lacing. Nose of dark chocolates, sweet roasted malts, mild black coffee, and cream. Flavors are sweet without being cloying. Roasted malts and chocolate dance with a moderate coffee note and sweet fresh cream. Excellent creamy mouth feel features moderate carbonation that is slick yet a hair watery which adds to it's high quaff-ability. Beefy version of the original. Moderate chocolate and coffee/toffee note on the aftertaste. Most excellent.

Cheers

Nitro tap as well as in a bottle at Wasatch Brewpub in Park City. Bartender suggested the bottle for a smoother feel. He was right on. Great taste, flavor and smooth. Awesome label as well.

12 FLUID OZ. bottle
Served in a nonic glass

This beer pours dark brown in color with ruby highlights. It is topped with three inches of creamy, tan head that coats the sides of the glass with each drink.

I get soft chocolate notes along with molasses and mild roasted malt.

The taste consists of roasted grain, chocolate, and some burnt toast in the finish.

Creamy, smoth, full mouthfeel

This is a pretty good beer. It's more of an English style porter in flavor profile.

Wasatch Polygamy Nitro Porter has a soapy, beige head, a ruby-dark brown appearance, and splotchy lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of faint chocolate, dark-roasted barley malts, and some acidity. Taste is of the same elements, with some cream and licorice as well. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Wasatch Polygamy Nitro Porter finishes somewhat wet and nicely drinkable.

Pours a dark black with a beautiful nitro head that lasts until the beer is done. Smells of roasted malt and chocolate. Taste follows the nose with a very slight bitterness. The body is medium with a creamy nitro carbonation. Very tasty porter, sometimes you forget the little nuances of standard american porters after drinking so many high ABV imperial stouts.
