12 oz. Bottle

Pours a very nice clean/clear golden yellow color, with some pretty nice carbonation, with a nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which leaves some pretty nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with some citrus. The taste is hoppy, malty, citrusy. Medium body. Overall, a very tasty brew.

Crystal clear, amber/orange, fair amount of tiny bubbles rising, with a quickly vanishing finger of white foamy head. The aroma is a little floral, some caramel, and mild citrus and pine. Not a ton of anything on the nose. The flavor is mild, but pleasant. Nice building bitterness towards the back that lingers. The beer has a nice balance between sweet and bitter. The citrus and piney notes are in their but mild. Average carbonation, medium thin body, a little watery, no real lacing, refreshing. Good, laid back-starter IPA.

Yellow, gold, copper, its all in here, a darker color than expected for a 4% ipa. Hops imparted grapefruit.

The flavor was a little earthy, grassy, not hops that pop, but they also exist in the flavor profile, they aren't that understated. Still, this is far from a top tier session ipa. Weirdly comes across kinda malty, plenty of crystal in this one.

Its balanced. Not a bad type of gateway ipa for people, no off flavors.

Pours fairly clear and golden, a tight finger high withe head. Tight singular ring forms after poor retention.

Little to no aroma coming off this beer, some honey dipped bready malt is quite plain with a slight green tea, grass and piney hop aroma.

Bready malt has a touch of honey sweetness. The hops are grassy with a mild orange citrus and general fruity esters. The black tea note on the finish indicates this might be past its prime. Quite bitter on the finish with a lasting pine burn.

Medium bodied with appropriate carbonation. Lasting bitterness that carries dank pine with some alcohol burn.

A disappointing IPA, quite drinkable but no aroma other than light malt and barely any hops. A huge tea flavor and bitterness but otherwise un-remarkable, more of a pale ale in flavor and build.

12 oz bottle, best by 7/16/14. Pours slightly hazy golden orange with a big meringue white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet bready malts with some grassy hops.

The flavor is sweet toasted malts with some grassy bitterness and a little fruit. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, it's very subdued and sweet and grassy.

Slightly chill hazed orange colored ale with a tall white head. This is at the lower end of the IPA Orange spectrum.

Smells mild for an IPA. Mild malt and a little grapefruit aroma. Faint scent of pinewood, just not that aromatic.

Starts out tasting of toasted grain and strong tea. Little bit of citrus flavor but overall this is pretty much closer to a pale ale than an IPA.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Overall this is damn easy to drink but it will leave hopheads with the feeling they have been cheated. Buy this expecting to taste Pale Ale and it is OK.

Beer is a very pale olden color, slight haze, almost no head. Carbonation is okay.

Aroma is citrusy and slightly fruity. Very pleasant aroma, the hops are subtle, not right in your face. No malt aroma.

Tastes is bitter, hops linger on the tongue. Citrus and grapefruit, bitter hop bit at the end. Crisp, not too sweet but not dry either.

Medium Mouthfeel.

A well made beer. Nothing outstanding but it is still crisp and refreshing and the citrus comes through well.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint.

A: Deep amber hue. Pours a 1 finger, bubbly white head. Settles fairly slowly leaving residue and a smattering of carbonation on the surface. Thick, persistent, dry lacing.

S: Pine cones, pine resin, and grapefruit.

T: Pine, nuts, and grapefruit... tastes like it smells.

M: Syrupy texture. Hop forward, little sweetness for balance, bitter dry finish.

D: Sipping experience... the character will dictate.

Atmosphere is really nice. Nice head, dark hue, and some thick persistent lacing. Nose is piney and citrusy. Pine, with a malty nut character, and lots of grapefruit pith. Overall, this is a really good quaff.

A: Aggressive side pour into a tulip. Cloudy amber in color. 1 finger of head. Quickly receding, Bubbles from foam to 1/8th inch. Small amount of sticky lacing.
S: Citrusy, grapefruit, hops, pine, pale malt
T: Very nice. Follows the same notes as smell plus some lemon. Very nice hop profile.
M: Crisp and refreshing. Slight bit of alcohol.
O: A very good beer. Very drinkable. Nice hop profile but not too strong. A good way to introduce someone to an IPA and a nice price point. Well balanced.

Note: This beer lists their ABV to be 6.5%.

Small but steady head (one finger thick). Settles to single layer of minute bubbles and leaves a blanket of lace initially.

More caramel to the nose than I expected. Comes across more like a British version of the IPA than American. Subtle, but present hop in the background.

This is a well-balanced IPA. The hop has a grapefruit rind taste but it is light for the style. The malt is your basic pale variety. This could easily come across as an ESB or an APA. The body is as expected and the carbonation is fine.

Simply put, this is an easy-to-drink IPA, perfect a perfect way for hopaphobes to be introduced to the style.

First ever trial of a Squatters brew. Excited by the variety found in great bottle shop is Tucson, AZ while visiting in-laws.

Pours modest orange with straw-yellow highlights. Weak, white bubbly head with decent noticeable lacing.

Aroma is sweet floral and citrus - mostly peach/mango variety rather than strong citrus

Taste is similar with dominant sweetness of peaches, ?mango, and faint orange peel. Mildly crisp bitterness with floral hops coming through intermittently. Noted lack of piney/resinous hops in the version of an IPA.

M: refreshing but fairly robust medium mouthfeel. Has a very smooth finish without any bitter bite on the end.

A very solid beer. The hops profile was unlike most I have had in many months but very enjoyable overall. More of a sweet style IPA than the bitterness expected. I would try this again for the unusual characteristics that set it apart, but just not hitting my favorite style points.

Pours a nice, dense, white head that is full of resin and laces the glass nicely. Great aroma of grapefruit with a touch of pine. Golden hue with a touch of amber. The way the thick head just sits atop the liquid is so picturesque! Starts bright with citrus bursting in, moves into a slight pine character and a flash of metallic before the malt muscles its way in. The finish is mild pine atop biscuit.

Overall, this is one of my all-time favorite IPA's.
It's so perfectly balanced between malt and hop bitterness. Not too high on the IBU's (55), but PACKED with flavor and aroma; just how I like 'em!
Fell in love with then one when I lived out West, glad to be able to get it in the Midwest!

a better than average ipa, this is well made but a little generic on the flavor profile. the pours is a nice bronzed golden color, mostly clear, with several inches of airy white head. the nose is hoppy and bitter, but mellowed by an English malt profile that puts in a touch of caramel sweetness and color. the hops have somewhat of a tropical fruit profile, with pineapple rings and dried mango coming to mind, but there is much sweetness and in the end the bitterness washes away the fruit. good medium body on this from good use of grain, this is a good all season ipa as a result. the flavor isn't particularly interesting overall, but it is satisfying and it fits the ipa genre well. I would like to see some more interesting hop variety here, dry hop this with sorachi or something and now then we will talk! fine carbonation and easy enough to drink. a B to B+ beer overall.

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #61 (Feb 2012):

LOOK: Hazy, pale amber

SMELL: Hop resin, spice, leafy, pipe tobacco, piney, light caramel, yeast, biscuity

TASTE: Smooth, hop forward, grainy, leafy, vegetal, spicy, oily, bitter, toasted biscuits, yeast, pineapple, passion fruit, hoppy finish

What was expected has been given. This IPA is all about old-school balance, without forgetting its hoppy roots. Fondness grows after each sip, followed by mourning as our glasses empty. A damn solid IPA, one that we wish we had more of.

A - Poured out a clear, copper color with a two-finger, off-white head of foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled very floral with citrus and grapefruit notes.

T - It tasted of grapefruit, citrus, and pine. A nice burnt toast maltiness as a backbone.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A medium bodied IPA with a dry, clean finish.

O - This is a pretty tasty IPA. Glad I picked this one up in Minnesota.

a pale orange body with a white head that dissipates very quickly.
smells of citrus and pine, but low character of each, very low for an ipa.
the taste matches the smell. I don't always want a huge flavor, but this is kinda weak.
mouthfeel is decent.
I guess this makes for a session ipa

12 oz bottle pours a lightly hazed gold color with a small cap of white head. Not much retention and average lace.

Nose shows some nice tropical fruit hop aromas with a biscuity, light malt backdrop. Smells pretty good actually, I am fairly impressed.

Taste is a nice blend of grainy malt and vibrant hop flavor. The bitterness is controlled and the balance is pretty good if you like a hop-flavor forward IPA as opposed to highly bitter. As it warms the malt may even lean a bit earthy and maris otter-esque. Id say this is more English style than American, but the hop flavor seems more American. A good hybrid, perhaps?...everything works pretty well together. Id have no problem getting another sixer of this sometime.

Beer #34 in my great Utah Brew Hunt.

Looks nice off the pour. Citrus nose. Flavor profile is fairly spiced from hops with an overall earthy thing and some citrus in there too. Very meaty and chewy. Quite thick. Lots of malts showing as the beer warms. Carbonation is a bit high, enough that it seems to become as prevalent as the taste of the beer, and possibly interfering with that a bit. Overall though, a pretty decent beer. I think this would be a good beer to have via cask.

Poured into a glass, it produced a big, fluffy, three finger, white head. The beer color is a translucent medium gold.
The aroma was of honey, and a little citrus hop.
The taste was the same, but with the hops pushing through the honey sweetness more.
IPA's aren't my favorite style, but this one I liked. Probably because the sweetness hid some of the extra hop bitterness.

Notes from 5/23/11; bottled 4/12/11

A - Pours a clear honey color with two fingers of craggy off-white head. Head has good retention. Nice.

S - Floral and citrus hops. A bit od grass and faint caramel malt.

T - Initial hop burst is nice and bitter with lots of grapefruit. Midway, it transitions to a slightly watery maltiness. Maintains a lingering bitterness that is noticeable but not very strong. A bit of tea.

M - Starts promising but turns thin after the initial hop bitterness. Decent, but nothing more.

O - Decent, easy drinking IPA. Unfortunately, the middle and end don't live up to the initial promise.

Squatters IPA has a thick, cream-colored head and a mostly clear, bubbly, oragne appearance with a heavy amount of lacing left down the glass. The aroma is citrus, sweetness, and bread. Taste is of bitterness up front, citrus, sweet bread, malt, and sugar. Mouthfeel is medium, and Squatters IPA finishes mostly dry and easy drinking. This is one to get!

I have no idea if this is the right listing, but I think it might be. The thing throwing me off is that it's listed as "retired." On the label this says "India Pale Ale" with "IPA" below that and "Brewers Reserve" below that. 6.5% ABV. Poured into a pint glass. "Born" on 5/16/12.

4.0 A: Clear light orange color. Two fingers of frothy/creamy white head. Retention is good and plenty of lacing is left.

3.0 S: Light herbal and flowery hop aroma. Light clean neutral maltiness. A bit grainy. Not much going on.

2.5 T: Like the nose, but perhaps even more boring. Light herbal hoppiness. Light grainy neutral maltiness. Low bitterness.

3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Crisp and clean, but not really creamy at all. Still, good here.

2.5 D: Really boring beer.

Poured into a pint glass. Pours clear copper with a white head that dissipates slowly. Lacing is left on the side of the glass as the head dissipates. Plenty of tiny bubbles can be seen rising from the bottom of the glass. The smell is dominated by grassy and floral hops. There is some malt in the aroma as well. Juicy, spicy hops hit the mouth up front and the hop bitterness comes in the back end. There is a good malt backbone to this beer and the citrus flavors shine. The body is light to medium with adequate carbonation. The drinkability is high. Overall, this is a solid, well balanced IPA. It's definitely worth trying if you can find it.

A - Pours with one finger of white foam that fades quickly and leaves only light lace on the glass. The body is a slightly hazy, golden copper.

S - Spicy hops and light malt with a bit of pine aroma.

T - Sweet malt up front with some toffee notes. The malt sweetness is pushed aside in the middle by a building bitterness as well as some pine and grapefruit flavor. Finishes with moderate bitterness, grapefruit, and lingering toffee malt sweetness.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, and a slightly sweet finish.

D - This is a pretty standard IPA, and while it wouldn't hold up to the real hop bombs that some breweries are putting out these days it is well balanced and drinkable.
