Dark translucent copper with medium head
Smells is chocolatey but lighter than a stout
Taste is chocolatey and dark just enough to cover the alcohol perfectly
Overall a great dark brew

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into tulip glass, best before 10/30/2017. Pours slightly hazy deep ruby red/light brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big caramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, roast, raisin, plum, wood, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of nuttiness, roast, raisin, plum, wood, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Mild herbal/woody hop bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of aramel, honey, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, light fruit, wood, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Nicely clean on lager flavors, not too fruity/yeasty. Minimal dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is a delicious doppelbock. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and light fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and east to drink for the ABV. Rich and clean Munich/Crystal malt flavors, just enough noble hops to balance the sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Look: Dark, crystal clear reddish brown mahogany with a light tan head that turns to fine lacing with a few large bubbles here and there
Smell: A darker brown bread, sort of sweet and honey/nut smell
Taste: Sweet again, but also like a toasty piece of bread, some fruit like plum, aged book (like the smell of aged book but on the tongue)... much like a tobacco flavor.
Feel: Moderately heavy, frothy on the tongue but still heavy even then. Somewhat slick mouthfeel
Overall: Good beer. Not great. But good. One you take your time on and enjoy the complexity.

A malty, caramel, thicker beer, with a little bite. Probably better in the winter because it has a little weight to it.

Taste Rating in Words: It's like putting a jacket on.
