Sampled this evening on 11/1/14. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured in to a snifter glass.

Pours a deep reddish-mahogany in color with a thin beige head. A decent amount of sticky lacing is seen with each sip. The aroma is very pleasant and is of caramel malts, brown sugar and dark fruit. The taste is even better with some toffee, and the dark fruits (dates, raisins, plums) sweetness coming through but not overly sweet. Goes down easy with no bitterness at all. Medium-bodied with perfect carbonation for this style of brew. Overall, really liked this one.

Poured from a 12 oz brown bottle into a clear glass tulip. Best by 10/23/14 near bottom edge of bottle. Rec'd as a gift from little sis Tami.

A: Clear mahogany, lightish, with 1-finger beige frothy head with good retention and a nice line of lacing around the top of the pour. (4)

S: Strong toasted caramel malt aroma with light herbal. earthy hops, no yeast character, some bready maltiness and date/raisin aromas (3.75)

T: Great flavor, very toasty and pretty sweet but very smooth and drinkable despite the high ABV. Medium caramel and toffee flavors dominate but allow some date, raisin, and prune flavors to poke through. Medium sweetness but not cloying, leaves a pleasant bready, honey graham cracker taste. Minimal hopping with light-medium bitterness. No real yeast character and the alcohol is well hidden. (4.25)

M: Slightly sticky feel, medium-full body, with light-medium carbonation. (3.75)

O: I enjoyed this beer, and I didn't have too high of hopes after trying Polygamy Porter last night. Devastator is a much better crafter beer -- nice toasty caramel sweetness that brings a good kick of maltiness without being cloying. SMooth and drinkable, even at 8%. Great job.
