Pours an effervescent gold/straw with a little hazing & 2 fingers of rocky eggshell colored head. Good head retention pretty good lacing

S: Oranges, not much else, fades as it warms

T: Orange, green melons, a little dryness up front. Dryness, tangerine, green melon & papaya as this warms. Finishes dry with a little tangerine & green melon, too dry for me

MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation, decent balance

Drinks alright, doesn't pull together

Poured from can into a pint glass
Appearance- The beer pours a hazy yellow-orange color with a one finger head of pure white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving just a trace of fizzy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strongest of tropical fruits of mango, papaya, and pineapple mixed with a citrus aroma of tangerine and grapefruit. Along with these smells comes a little bit of an herbal, yeasty, and flowery smell as well.
Taste – The taste begins with a very sweet flavor of the tropical fruits an tangerine that were detected in the nose. Upfront there is a bit of a bready and slightly wheaty taste that has some yeasty flavor mixed within. There is also a little bit of herbal, grassy, and a light citrus hop upfront as well, with the former flavors getting stronger as the taste advances. While the herbal and grass get a bit stronger, the sweeter flavors dwindle a little bit, and with some flavors of more grain and a bit of earth coming at the very end, one is left with a lightly sweetened, and surprisingly more dank hoped (at least for a brew of only 4 % abv…) taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thinner side with a carbonation level that is rather low. It was an interesting but great feel. For the low abv, I would expect something slightly thinner, but this actually, while not the best for the dank hop, was nice for accentuating the fruity flavors upfront, and with the transition to the danker hop flavors later on, made this a very approachable, but not slamable brew overall. Very appropriate for those longer session drinking occasions.
Overall – This would be a fantastic session brew!! Low in abv., with a good flavor, but not too easy to drink, making it so that after multiple hours you don’t take on more than you can chew. It has a very nice flavor profile and a great feel. I was quite impressed by the flavors and the balance they pack into this 4 % abv. IPA. Nice!!!

Squatters Juicy IPA has a thick, creamy, white head, an opaque, lemon-yellow appearance, and heavy lacing. The aroma is of stone fruit and white bread, and that flavor has those elements, but with an overriding tap water taste. No bitterness nor dankness, here. Mouthfeel is medium & fizzy, and Squatters Juicy IPA finishes midway sweet/dry.

This is going to be a review with "On the One Hand, but On the Other Hand".

Appearance: On the one hand, this is the laciest beer I've ever seen. The pint glass is coated and coated with lace that lasts about forever. Good. On the other hand, it's a dirty yellow murkbomb. I'm sorry, I know that's the style, but I can't find a beer that looks like dishwater appealing. 4.25 for the lace, 3.25 for the murkbomb, average 3.75.

Smell: On the one hand, this beer smells great. Very hoppy, mostly citrus, maybe a little melon. On the other hand, wait, no there's no demerits in the smell at all.

Taste: On the one hand, this beer has a lot more going in the flavor department than many NE hazies. It punches above its weight. The hops are emphatic. There's a surprising amount of bitterness in the finish, surprising for the style, but not for IPAs generally. On the other hand, the flavor components don't quite come together.

Overall, I have to say this is one of the best Utah 4.0 ABV draft beers I've had. It's got a lot of flavor, and isn't meh like so many Utah draft beers have been. (I've visited Utah several times over the past decade, but I'm no expert.) I'd cheerfully pick out this beer again from a Utah draft list. However, my server tonight told me that Utah is changing its laws, and will have slightly higher ABV beers available on tap starting in November. It's about time. In the meantime, look for Squatters Juicy IPA. It wouldn't compete well against other states' IPAs, but it's a good beer, and worth a try.
