Hop Head Red is a medium bodied classic red ale. The bitterness and floral aroma are derived from whole flower Amarillo and Summit hops. So if you like hops you must give this one a try.

Don't let the name fool you with this beer. The hops are balanced with the maltiness, almost making this not true to style. On the palate a candied maltiness presents itself against a background of assorted fruits. A pleasing fresh bready-dental clean taste predominates, and it is quite good (though that description might sound unpleasant, it is quite good). Nitro gives this beer a dangerous level of drinkability, so hand the keys to someone else.

flavorless, red ale with zero hops. On nitro
smell: nothing maybe some sweetness of caramel but light. Hops?
taste: blah, nothing to pick up and defeinitly no hops
mouthfeel: medium to light bodied and blanaced. This beer was all about the nitro and cascading beaty
drinkability: overall crap, cool idea but tatse liek nothing. I stopped drinking and hit the IPAs

Pours a very nice cloudy amber color, nice carbonation, very nice one-finger plus creamy/thick off-white head, very nice thick/creamy sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, with some slight roasted nuts, lots of caramel, with a nice balance of hops. The taste is slightly sweet/bitter, nice hoppyness to balance it out, lots of caramel. Medium body. Drinkable, a very tasty brew.

Appearance: Despite the name in the beer profile above, I had this beer on the hand engine in the Salt Lake City Airport. The beer has a red to copper color with a creamy, two inch, tan head.
Smell: Sandy and resiny hop aroma. Very floral and sharp.
Taste: Spicy and creamy, sweet malt with a lingering earthy hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Of course the feel of a beer from the hand engine is great, but as it sits in my mouth this beer shows itself to be more watery. It starts medium bodied from the hand engine but it ends thin.
Drinkability: Good flavor and well hopped but the hand engine seems to take some of the hoppiness out of the beer. Not very bitter with only fleeting hoppiness as it settles.

Along the lines of the previous review I had the idea that this was going to be a hoppy beer. Not at all. The pour was a very bright red with a very creamy head. The smell was somewhat fruity with a nice balance of malt sweetness in the aroma. The flavor was much the same. Very mellow and balanced no one aspect stood out to me but it was a good beer.
