This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a dark copper color with a one finger tan colored head. The lacing was smooth and sticky arranging in foamy rings around the glass.
The aroma had a roasty maltiness, toasted nuts and some caramel. The hops are kind of earthy and somewhat grassy, definitely had a super low bitterness to it.
The taste was mainly sweet through the previously mentioned flavors.
The mouthfeel had a light to medium bodied feel. I'd say this was pretty sessionable.
Overall, its mainly a good amber that I could have again, maybe not one to seek out, but worthy.

L: A brilliant dark amber pour supports a 3” rocky cream colored foam collar that produces extensive lace. S: Citrusy hops are on the fade due to age. T: Attacks with a hint of chocolate and malt and as it moves over the tongue, it goes from mildly sweet to off-dry. F: Medium body and carbonation. O: a decent beer that would be much better fresh.

poured 12oz bottle into a pint glass.
Dark copper in color and has a 1.5 finger almond colored head. Decent lacing on the glass. Aromas of roasted malts, toasted nuts and some caramel. The flavor is heavy on the malts that are roasted, along with toasted nut like notes. I pick up some earthy flavors as well. The mouth feel is rich and medium bodied. Not watered down like many American Ambers. Solid offering that is not too sweet and definitely not hoppy.

Squatters Big Cottonwood American Amber Ale:
A--Gorgeous deep copper/red color. Medium soapy head with a little lacing left after. Not a ton of bubbles, but definitely enough to keep the ale refreshing.
S--Orange, melon, and hops overall with the orange being the strongest thing to jump out at me.
T--Wonderful, crisp orange taste with just a little hop bitterness on the back end. Not overly complex, but really refreshing. Malted barley really comes through.
M--Light and smooth, but something different right at the end that accompanies the hop taste t hat made my mouth itch just a little bit. However, I do have food allergies so it's possible that it's just a tiny hit of an allergen at the back. Different, but certainly not enough to put me off the beer. I'll have to try it again down the road to see if it's a one off thing.
O--Extremely tasty and refreshing, while being a gorgeous beer to look at as well. The label features a gorgeous photo of an antique car in the canyon, courtesy of the Utah State Historical Society. All in all, another solid effort from Squatters, and one that I had somehow overlooked.

Clear red colored beer with a tall tan colored head.
Hoppy and malty with a strong pine and menthol aroma. Enough hops to make your nose itch. There is a slight melon aroma here.
Starts out with a strong malt and strong tea flavor. this is a little on the sweet side. Not as hoppy as the smells suggests, just a mild easy to drink ale.
Mouthfeel is OK.
Overall a nice tasty ale that is a bit on the malty side.

A - 4 - Nice copper reddish color with a thick off white head on top that leaves okay lacing.
S - 3.75 - Nice hoppy, floral, citrus notes. Caramel malt balances it out. A sweet smelling beer like most amber/red ales are.
T - 3.5 - Nice hoppy but also sweet caramel malt flavor. Some floral and citrus notes, but also a little bit of an unfortunate dirty hop flavor in there too, which I'm thinking comes from the use of cascade hops for this as a red ale, which gives it more of a pale ale's hop profile, if that make sense.
M - 3.75 - Light - medium. Alc covered. Aftertaste is nice caramel malt flavor but also hop bitterness.
O - 3.75 - It's an okay beer. I wish they would have used more citrusy hops in this recipe to give it that nice smooth citrus hop flavor like OB G'knight has.
