Poured in pint glass. Not much of a head at all. Cloudy amber/light brown color.

Smell: grapefruit peel. Tree leaves, and a slighty off note, like wet horse. Then some yeast and fruitcake. Pear candy too. Not bad, but not extremely inviting either.

Taste is big on grapefruit, nice hop character. Some very floral and grassy notes too. Then some fruitcake or candy, but the sweetness lasts very short and is immediately replaced by a big bitterness, like the white of grapefruits. Some yeast too with balances great with the hops. There's more to it, but I find it hard to describe. Certainly not a one-dimensional IPA.

Mouth is medium, I don't get much alcohol, but a nice aftertase that really coats the mouth. Could use a bit more carbonation for me.

Overall: the taste is the strongest asset of this beer. Quite complex actually, though it's a bit hard to describe. A nice beer to drink occasionally. Ofcourse there are many that are better in the style, but this is an interesting effort for sure.

An orange, copper beer with a bog frothy head, that lasts forever.

The smell is fruity and citric, with black currants and sweet oranges, and strong hoppy notes of US hops. The hops are draped on a nice malty base that offers enough balance to the hops.

The taste is quite bitter, but all within the style guidelines and not mouthpuckering. The bitterness grows during the glass. The hops offer lots of fruity and lemony flavors, with a nice Amarillo hoppy taste.

Got this one at Bert's Bierhuis in Utrecht.

From a bottle into a snifter
Brewed at De Molen

APPEARANCE: Pours a three finger, thinner looking, loose, fluffy off-white head with very good retention. Hazy safty orange with higher levels of carbonation evident. Head slowly fades to a foamy cap leaving some bubbly lacing down the glass.

SMELL: Pale malts, honeydew melon, grapefruit and flowery notes. Definite spiciness from the Belgian yeast strain. More melon and floral aromas with spicy yeast. Medium strength.

TASTE: Pale malts and lots of floral bitterness. Soapy bitter hop flavors and a touch of spicy yeast at the finish. A little mild up front but a huge and persistent aftertaste is plenty floral bitter with a dose of spicy yeast. Very bitter and floral finish. Seems more Belgian than American.

PALATE: Medium-light body and medium levels of carbonation. Creamy smooth on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes rather dry on the palate.

OVERALL: This is an average beer. The nose was a touch more interesting and showed some promise, but the flavor lacked the complexity that was needed. Instead, it was simply too one dimensional and heavily floral and bitter. Decent, but not one woth writing home about.

33cl bottle received as an extra in a trade with a nice fellow from Holland. If you get your hands on this, dont make the same mistake I did. Bottle was refrigerated for 3 days prior to opening and when poured into a snifter created a full glass of big bubbly yellowish stained head. It takes 4 pours before any amount of liquid resides inside the glass. The brew appears a clouded orange with the previously described mountain of billowing head supported by a constant stream of rising carbonation. Swirling the glass even lightly emits another 3 fingers of froth back to the surface.

The aroma is sadly carbonic and mineral filled with hints of sulfur. There is a bit of rindy element somewhat reminiscent of grapefruit or other rindy fruit elements. However, it is unfortunately that the aromatics are for the most part almost chloraseptic, medicinal and uninviting.

The flavor is also chloraseptic, medicinal, mineral-filled and carbonic. A bit of sulfur exists with a bitter rindy pith and grapefruit skin/zesty element with traces of earth and grass. A touch of toasty to bready grain is present but the main character in this brew is sadly the carbonation and mineral elements.

This is a medium to lighter bodied brew with an exaggerated amount of just too much carbonation. I am sure this could have been a decent brew but my relentless swirling and degassing of the brew still left me with a mineral filled carbonic mess of a beer. This can't possibly be what people/brewers in the Netherlands think of American IPA's...

330ml bottle. ½ Pint glass. Enjoyed on jun´12. Amber color, foggy with sediments in suspension. White, small bubbled froth. Lasting, foamy, crown. Mildy toasted malts, floral fragancies, resiny notes & bread crust to the nose. Sparkling & lively at first sip with orange touches on sides. Moderate maltiness & fruity flavor. Silky palate. Medium/light body, medium to high carbonation. Brief, slightly citric finish. Quince hues. Refreshing & easy drinkable as a session Lager. ABV very well masked.

Poured a huge fluffy head, leaving solid lacing. Colour was a medium brown. Quite effervescence.
Smell had a lot of piney, citrusy hops notes, fairly fresh and balanced. Flavour was good, mostly hop forward, with a bit of spice. Mouthfeel was quite light, high carbonation, crisp finish. Quite refreshing, hoppiness is strong but not a ton else.
