22 Fl. Oz. Bottle
2015 Bottling Year
Reviewed on December 31st, 2015
Served in a Snifter
Eyes
Rich dark brown body. Light peaked through the sides of the glass when held up to light. A healthy-sized brown head formed, collapsed, and left a good amount of frothy lacing behind. Very nice head retention.
Nose
Toasty and smokey. Dark chocolate. Touch of dark fruit. Mild bitterness of herbal hops.
Tongue
Heavy roasted malts. Dark roasted coffee. Cocoa-esque bitterness. Rather aggressive bitterness in the finish, think herbal hops and charred malts. Slight bit of warmth in the finish.
Mouth
Full-bodied. Low carbonation. Slightly chewy.
Overall
I was very pleased with this RIS. It is almost like the "unsweetened" version of other RIS varieties.
