The yarnbomb is a decent heffe for those that do not like alot of clove and banana. This beer only offer hints of each none that are overpowering. I think rye was used to help the beer clear the pallate. The appearance was a clody yellow with white head. The smell includes clove, banana, and other citrus zest. The taste has a very nice hop and all the smells are included in the taste. The mouthfeel was light in body and decent carbantion even after being in the growler for over 4 days. Overall....I liked this beer.

Served in a shaker pint glass at Small Bar - Division.

Dammit, still more Olympics on the tube during this bar-hopping excursion, but at least I've got a new Solemn Oath brew in front of me. It pours a cloudy amber-straw topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises lemon zest, orange zest, light banana, vanilla, light black pepper, and a touch of coriander. The taste holds notes of lemon zest, orange peel, banana peel, coriander, cardamom, and light grapefruit peel. Things are a bit bitterer here, but still pretty tasty. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda dry finish. Overall, a tasty hefe, though one that comes dangerously close to witbier territory. Still, good times.

On tap at Geneva Ale House - Geneva, IL
Cloudy, straw colored ale, with a frothy, white he that holds good retention. Nice nose of banana, clove , yeast, citrus, wheat. Sharp citrus - namely lemon & grapefruit rind, banana, nutty, wheat, yeast, clove, white pepper; more bitter than a traditional German Hefeweizen. Creamy, medium body, definitely refreshing. I prefer a more traditional here, but this was nice for a change-up with some extra American hops.

New beer on at Solemn Oath. Picked up a growler today. Served in a Hacker-Pschorr Weisse glass.

A: Pours a very hazy golden straw color with some darker hues in the body and towards the head. A thick and frothy two finger sized head forms on the pour. As it recedes a sticky webbing of lace is left down the whole glass.

S: Great yeast presence fills the nostrils. Light spicy pepper corn, some fruity esters and a little banana are all present. Grassy and citrus-like hops aromas are pulled out towards the back end of each sniff. Pretty good stuff and nicely balanced. Light lemon grass and wheat are present as well.

T: Yeast presence is up front and that's followed by a solid cracked wheat. Some bubblegum and spice with a hint of banana. The light citrus flavors pop up towards the back end.

M: Medium bodied with a medium to low carbonation. The growler released quite a bit gas on the way home (audible hissing) and it seemed to hurt the beer here. The finish is drying with light fruity esters sticking around the palate. Would have been close to a perfect 5 otherwise.

O: Very solid hefe. The addition of the cascade hops really added a nice little pop on the finish once the yeast flavors started to subside. On a nice hot day this just what I needed. Would like to revisit straight from the tap as to have the proper carbonation.
