Pours a hazy gold color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of spicy hops, piney hops, alcohol, earthiness, and sweet malt. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of spicy hops, piney hops, alcohol, resin, earthiness, and sweet malt. Overall, good aroma, blend, feel, and body.

A solid beer across the board, and a first for me. Had it from the can at Fat Rice (Chicago). Delicious, perfectly in character for an IPA, not too heavy, clear, snappy, and bright. Exactly what I want from a lighter-style IPA with a meal. Wouldn't say no to a second one. Maybe lacks a little distinctive character (?) but this is well made.

12oz can, date of 9.12.17 stamped on the can, poured into a Solemn Oath "Red, White, and Blue" nonic pint glass.

The beer pours a nice copper color, clear with a light chill haze, a foamy white head appears, about two fingers with loose bubbles, low retention and some spots of lace. The aroma is nice, citrusy with some spicy grapefruit peel, copper malts, sweet and sticky, resinous pine, grassy green hops, hop spice lingers. The flavors are good, strong grapefruit peel, light citrus fruit, resinous pine, sappy and oily, nice spice, a bit of dank grassiness too with lingering sweet pale and amber malt. The mouthfeel is good, crisp and lively, lighter medium body with a snappy dry finish.

Verdict: A good IPA from Solemn Oath Brewery, nicely balanced, approachable and easy going. Not the most explosive or dynamic IPA, but perfect for a reliable daily drinking beer that is widely available. Nice stuff.

Look is clear golden amber and poured with a negligible amount of white head.

Aroma is pretty mild grapefruit and maybe some tropical fruit.

Taste follows nose. Grapefruit and tropical fruit are really mild almost watered down feeling.

Feel is lively as carb is moderate to high.

Overall not a bad beer, but probably doesn't do it for most folks that drink ipas regularly. Not much going on here.

The can design looks like it could contain lump crab , but that aside, I was really hoping this would be another in-your-face IPA from SOB. Turns out this is a very mild IPA. Very little bitterness and not much memorable about this beer. It was canned about 5 weeks ago, not sure if that made a difference. Probably a great beer for the IPA newbie, but not for me. A little disappointed in SOB this time.

At TFF movie. Lots of resin, pine hops, some citrus hops. Medium body and low to moderate carbonation.

Overall a decent IPA. Not crazy hoppy but drinkable and no bitterness. Worth checking out.

My wife & I met a couple friends at the Solemn Oath tasting room for a Saturday evening prior to heading to dinner. We had never been there before and the entire beer lineup sounded good so it was a bit hard to choose. I wound up trying this one first since I've been on a bit of an IPA kick as of recent.

This beer pours a clear amber hue that shows off moderate carbonation and is topped with a thick, frothy, almost creamy, white head that dissipates nice and slowly to a rocky layer with a neck. 4.25/5 The aroma is somewhat subdued but is definitely dominated by the hops. The aroma features a good dose of tropical fruit and is backed up by a light grainy malt that balances the sharpness a bit. There is a slight buttery note as well. 3.25/5 The flavor profile is, as with the aroma, dominated by the hops, but the malt does make more of a showing here with a bit of buttery caramel up front along with a hint of grain. Mango, papaya, pineapple, and passion fruit come through quite quickly after the malt with a bitterness that is moderate but balanced by the malt. The bitterness does linger lightly on the palate after swallowing. 4/5 This is a medium bodied IPA that is light on carbonation and actually fairly wetting and slick before a slight dryness develops that lingers lightly after swallowing. 4/5 This is a very good IPA that has a healthy dose of tropical hops that all come together very nicely. It is very hop forward, but also well balanced at the same time. Easily a beer to return to for me. 4/5
