Very Good

Notes: Rich caramel malt sweetness is beaten over the head with bright, fresh American hop flavors of grapefruit citrus, pine and tropical fruit in our double IPA. This beer is the bigger, more successful brother of Kidnapped by Vikings.

22 oz. bomber poured into pint glass. No bottled on date that I can find, but it should be fresh since this has just started being bottled.

A: Dark amber, clear, one finger white head that dissipates very quickly. A small amount of bubbles stream up to the surface. Looks undercarbonated. Okay other than that.

S: Smell is good. Strong tropical notes. Lots of grapefruits, mango, and blood orange. Also get a bit of pine and alcohol off the nose, too.

T: Lots of orange zest in the taste. Grapefruit rind, ripe mango, bit of marijuana and pine on the back. Bitterness is absolutely non-present in the taste. This is one of the least bitter double IPAs I've ever tasted. Slightly bready, sweet caramel malt on the hind end. Finishes slightly tropical. No lingering bitterness.

M: Not as undercarbonated as it looks. In fact, it's pretty much perfect. Body is on the lighter side, but it's not TOO light. Slightly resinous and sticky.

O: I like the hop profile, but I think there could be a bit more hop intensity. I think just a touch more would be perfect. However, this is very well balanced, and the hops are still pretty intense...I'm just a relentless hop head. I like the slight sweetness and the absolute lack of bitterness here.

Tough to live up to the neighboring Two Brother's, but this is pretty solid stuff.

The only other beer I've had from these guys is Butterfly Flashmob ( on tap ) which I enjoyed. They just started bottling so I had to pick this up when I saw it at Binnys.
Poured from 22oz bottle ( no date ) into snifter.

look - white head, settled with some decent lacing. Color of the beer is a sunburst orange with a slight haze

smell - citrus dominates. grapefruit, tangerine, piney, hops

taste - a bit of malty sweetness is nicely balanced with some citrus flavors and a hop bite

mouthfeel - medium body, on the lower carb side, a bit oily, but finishes dry

overall - nice balanced DIPA - very drinkable - I really liked it! . I usually don't buy bombers too often, but at $7.99 it's not as bad as buying an FFF DIPA bomber at 50% higher cost and almost as good.
