Big open taproom with ample seating, high ceilings, brewery/tanks just behind bar. Has an old west theme, with feel of a saloon at the bar; decor slightly rustic. Pretty good traffic for early on a Tuesday afternoon and dog friendly so some puppers were around which is always cool.
Great beers - our third visit here (from Canada) and yet to have a bad beer. The Roustabout was on tap and fantastic.
Order at the bar - friendly and helpful.
14 beers on tap with IPAS, couple of stouts, Belgian styles, and three wild/ferel ales.
A must visit in San Diego.

From our visit in May.
Stopped by for a few beers on a Saturday afternoon. Roomy, clean, and built like most brewpubs these days. No food at this point, but a food truck was just outside the door. Prices were standard, and the people behind the bar were very helpful. I had the Pugilist and Coachman.. both of which were very good. Because we were hitting up a couple of breweries, our time was short.

Loved this place. Beers were great and staff was really nice. Talked beer and sports with us for hours.
This place has to be on your list if you're hitting San Diego brewery hoping.

After a day at the hotel playing games and swimming, we took a mid-afternoon drive to Societe. Loved the place. Best vibe of all the places visit on our SD vcation. We played Monopoly, my son played with a dog, and we talked with locals. My wife had an excellent pilsner and I had a great IPA (Pupil) and Belgian Strong Dark. As a snack, we ordered some food from a food truck. I brought a bottle of one of their feral (wild) ales.

Visited Societe Tuesday 12/26/17. Arrived just before closing so I wasn't able to experience it as anticipated. Being so late I only had time for one brew. The Apprentice was my choice. An IPA which I enjoyed. I shared it with the others with me and we purchased a growler to take with us. Good tasting beer. The environment was comfortable with the vats in full view. Located in a somewhat industrial area with an understated entry, inside was what one would expect, wooden bar, long high top tables with bar stool and good music, not built for comfort. The two servers were friendly and talkative when engaged. Will return next time I visit SD.

One of the pros to Societe's tasting room is that they make a point to feature different varieties of beers. One of the downsides is that, like many SD breweries, the menu is hop heavy but hoppy is popular and it sells, I get it. recently theyve added sour/feral beers to the menu which is a welcomed change because the overall palate leaned a but on the heavy side here.

Sizable tasting room and outdoor area, with friendly staff. Bottles and merch for sale but the 12oz sour bottles are a bit pricey for my tastes.

I just love arrogant bartenders at breweries. The current explosion of craft beer has fueled this arrogance. I just moved to the West from the East, been stopping by local breweries when I get the chance. Stopped by to Société, because I happened to be in the neighborhood. I have had several beers at beer bars and the bartenders raved about the beer. The few I tried were great! So I was excited to visit. Walked in at sat at L-shaped bar. Waited for service....never happened. I waited and observed. I'm guessing after 15minutes, that it was counter service. My problem was the bartender saw me. The bartender walked by me twice, never said a word to me. So I left. I don't get upset anymore. FYI bartenders it is your job to inform new guests of your policy. Not the guests job to figure it out.

Typical San Diego setting of the back end of a strip mall / office park, but they've dressed it up a notch with the nice barrel room viewing and seating setup. Beers were really very good, especially the Pupil and the Butcher. They had about 15 beers on tap, which I thought was a great selection for the size of the brewery.

Societe Brewing is located in an industrial business park. Once you enter inside you do feel different, in a good way, like a brewery. It was a nice vibe. The tap and bar area is near the entrance and they had tables and chairs around. The production area is visible from the tasting room which I think creates a nice environment to enjoy beers and talk with friends.

They had about 10 Societe beers on tap. The server was nice and welcoming. I had couple of their stouts, both of which were good. One wish I have is if they could serve some of their sours on tap.

Enjoyed my visit.

Don't judge a book my its cover. Non-descript exterior hides a welcoming interior. Beer is exceptional and the beer-tenders are friendly and knowledgeable. Great selection...from west coast hoppy to roasty brews rarely associated with southern California.

World class beer but the worst service of any brewery in SD. They love the word "no" so be prepared. There were two of us and we asked for 3 tasters and we were told "only two at at a time". So one per person? Then they tell us they'll fill "any" flip top growler. We head to the car and when we return they say "oh the neck's too narrow, We'll waste too much beer". It's pretty clear they don't need our business...

Good time overall at Société, but got some unexpected attitude from the bartender for no apparent reason. He could use a few lessons in customer service. Enjoyed the beers very much.

One of the standout breweries in the San Diego area for me.

Staff here was cool as hell and allowed for great conversation.

The beer selection was varied and there were a few real standouts. Prices are very fair. Definitely a nice stop in SD and one that can be made before continuing on to Alesmith, and other north SD breweries and spots.

Visited on December 5, 2015. Societe has made the most of its industrial park setting. Very nice interior space that is decorated with a unique "old-timey" feel. I had the Pupil and the Butcher. Both were excellent.

Stopped by during 2015 San Diego Beer Safari. Had wanted to check out Societe for some time. Great place, and despite long lines in a tasting room Saturday afternoon...things went well and nicely paced. Never felt overly cow penned and yet never felt stuck in traffic either. Place was large and packed. Big modern hip and fun. Great choice of beers, and upbeat staff. Plenty of stuff to buy on the side. Food was tasty. Definitely a place among hundreds in SD...but one to make sure you get to. More than up to the hype.

Small, family and dog friendly tasting room with long shared tables. Very chill place with board games offered. Laid back vibe. This brewery is a growler only brewery with really awesome beer. If in San Diego check it out. Hopefully they will be packaging soon.

This is always one of my favorites in San Diego. Their IPAs and Stout is really something to try. The ambiance is great with a fairly large tasting room. Pets and kids are welcome (but no food for sale) and the people are always really nice. Prices are pretty standard (very reasonable) but the beer is what will keep you coming back. My favorites are The Butcher and The Pupil.

Their space is really nice and the big board makes it easy to figure out what to get if you don't know what you want already. Getting a pint or a growler fill is very easy with multiple people working to get pours and fills out. Not too far away from downtown SD or Northpark so it's never a hassle to get out to Societe... plus Council is just a few minutes down the street!

Love the Pupil; I make this trip often just to fill up my growlers that last no longer than that same weekend.

No food served here although the rotating food trucks are often great. You can get various sample size pours up to the full size (are they even 12oz?). The Pupil and Butcher are a must and you may as well try the Apprentice and Roustabout. Definitely worth the trip, buy the pricey growlers once and be sure to come back for fills.

Seems like an average start up brewery. This place has so much buzz but no beer to support it. The tasting room is huge and very cool inside. I tried a few ipas and they were no match for alpine or ballast point. As far as sour beer goes they had none, which is disappointing that they can't manage to have any sour beers consistently. I asked and they said the sours were still aging. This place is lucky they're very well funded, but no bottling line or sour beers kinda makes you scratch your head. Luckily they're not the only brewery in town. Cheers!

Excellent San Diego brewery focusing on IPAs and Belgians with a smattering of stouts. Their beer is mainly available through select beer bars and their tasting room/production facility off Clairemont Mesa Boulevard 10 minutes drive north of downtown San Diego. Tasting room offers full pours, growlers, and taster size portions. No food at offered at the tasting room, but they do host a regular rotation of food trucks. Highly recommended and hard to get outside of San Diego.

I like that they only allow 2 tastings per fight. Allows you to really taste their beer, slowly. Nice big airy brewery, and staff was pretty knowledgeable.

One of many new wave breweries to open in San Diego, a beer from Societe hadn't even hit my lips until my visit to the brewery itself. It was from the agenda of a few overseas beer geeks from abroad which brought me here, so it shows that Societe is already attracting attention from outside the US.

After a quick and fun tour (reservations required), the beer tasting started. 11 different beers were tap, separated into three different columns on its overhanging wooden beer menu. One column listed Belgian styled ales, the middle posting hoppy ales, and the right with dark offerings. I tasted three different beers (The Apprentice, The Pugilist, The Publican), all of good quality. Paired with a good buzz in the tasting room and the thought that a sour beer program is in the works, Societe has the ability to nudge its head at the high level set by Stone, AleSmith, Ballast Point, et all in the region.

I like this place a lot, even though they don't bottle yet. Parking can be a little tight, especially on weekends. The inside area is spacious and open. Dogs are allowed. Limited outdoor seating. Bathrooms are multiple men/women and usually clean. Bar service area is standard, using ipads for electronic transactions. Growler fills are reasonable priced, not overcharging for SSteel growler options. I personally use the unmarked SSteel growlers, which I can use at sevral other places also. Check the website for taplist and food truck options. The occasional special release, also noted on website. in a business neighborhood with other food/fuel options if needed and close to major highway exit. Hope this helps. Cheers.

it has great atmosphere like turn of the century new york style
allows you to bring in dogs and staff is knowledgeable and friendly
