One of many new wave breweries to open in San Diego, a beer from Societe hadn't even hit my lips until my visit to the brewery itself. It was from the agenda of a few overseas beer geeks from abroad which brought me here, so it shows that Societe is already attracting attention from outside the US.

After a quick and fun tour (reservations required), the beer tasting started. 11 different beers were tap, separated into three different columns on its overhanging wooden beer menu. One column listed Belgian styled ales, the middle posting hoppy ales, and the right with dark offerings. I tasted three different beers (The Apprentice, The Pugilist, The Publican), all of good quality. Paired with a good buzz in the tasting room and the thought that a sour beer program is in the works, Societe has the ability to nudge its head at the high level set by Stone, AleSmith, Ballast Point, et all in the region.

Stopped in here after visiting Alesmith, had a few of their beers in SF about a week ago so I was really looking forward to trying a few more of them at the source. Upon entering it is quickly apparent that this place is WAY bigger than it looked like from the outside. Tons of tables to the left over near the large barrel room with a large L shaped bar to the right. Atmosphere was pretty good even for the middle of the afternoon. Plenty of people milling about the large seating area creating a laid back vibe. Service was solid all around. I was served by two different bartenders and both were good. Guy just wanted to get my beers and thats about it while the woman was more pleasant and talked to me for a little while. Quality was quite high. From the nice wood bar tops to the stainless metal growlers, everything just feels high end. Selection was quite good, they had 9 beers on and 2 others kicked. I was a little sad the pale ale was off because I had heard such amazing things but the other 9 more than made up for that. Prices were no problem, growlers are a little on the high side but they use metal ones so no problem there just be prepared for it. I got a 1L for $15, can’t wait to use it. Overall a really awesome brewery with a really nice space to showcase their beers. I will definitely return the next time I am in the area.

In SD for a stopover on the way to Hawaii. May as well stop at a brewery.

Big space for a new brewery. Room to grow here, and they already have in 2 years. Bar at the right as you walk in, brewing facility straight ahead, seating to the left. Probably seats upwards of 70 plus a nice outside patio. Place is a bit tricky to find as it's not right off the main road...tucked away a bit.

Beers were nice with 5 IPAs (a tad much, but hey, it's San Diego!) a saison, mild, barrel aged, Belgian strong, and a couple of others. Solid beers.

Nice service on a busy day. And they're expanding keg accounts up to SF

Societe Brewing is located in an industrial business park. Once you enter inside you do feel different, in a good way, like a brewery. It was a nice vibe. The tap and bar area is near the entrance and they had tables and chairs around. The production area is visible from the tasting room which I think creates a nice environment to enjoy beers and talk with friends.

They had about 10 Societe beers on tap. The server was nice and welcoming. I had couple of their stouts, both of which were good. One wish I have is if they could serve some of their sours on tap.

Enjoyed my visit.

Stopped by during 2015 San Diego Beer Safari. Had wanted to check out Societe for some time. Great place, and despite long lines in a tasting room Saturday afternoon...things went well and nicely paced. Never felt overly cow penned and yet never felt stuck in traffic either. Place was large and packed. Big modern hip and fun. Great choice of beers, and upbeat staff. Plenty of stuff to buy on the side. Food was tasty. Definitely a place among hundreds in SD...but one to make sure you get to. More than up to the hype.

I recently stopped in at Societe on our annual beer bus tour. The brewing equipment is behind the bar area and there is plenty of seating around the space. They have an interesting 1800s theme going on. This brewery is fairly new so everything was clean and well kept. They had around 10 of their beers on tap with a wide variety of styes represented in general categories (hoppy, European-influenced, and dark). All of the beers I tried were served at a good temperature and in proper glassware. Service from all of the staff was pretty good but there was a bit of a disconnect at times when the staff was busy cleaning and away from the taps. The prices were inexpensive, especially for the tasters which were $1 each. I would definitely make a point to come back here again if I was in the area.

One of the standout breweries in the San Diego area for me.

Staff here was cool as hell and allowed for great conversation.

The beer selection was varied and there were a few real standouts. Prices are very fair. Definitely a nice stop in SD and one that can be made before continuing on to Alesmith, and other north SD breweries and spots.
