Poured from a 12oz can into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a light yellow color, with a thin white head that fades quickly and leaves a very thin lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains adjuncts, very light malts and a very faint bit of hops.

T: The taste starts out a light malt and adjunct sweetness followed by a mildly bready grain flavor. There isn't much of a hops presence at all. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and a little smooth, light body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.

D: Not very flavorful even for the style, goes down easily and not too filling since there isn't a lot to the beer, very mild kick, it's poundable because of its lack of substance, but overall it's not a very good beer.

look: 2 | smell: 1.75 | taste: 2 | feel: 2 | overall: 2

A: Pours a crystal clear pale yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass and some very faint lemon yellow highlights. The beer has a three finger tall foamy bright white head that reduces to a thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Very light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light aromas of grainy malts with moderate amounts of corn adjuncts and just a hint of sweetness.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of corn adjuncts and grainy malts with just a hint of grassy hops. Light amounts of bitterness that fades rather quickly.

M: Very light bodied with heavy amounts of carbonation. Crisp but watery.

O: This beer is very easy to drink and is refreshing but is not really interesting enough to want to have another. This would be a good beer for drinking on the beach, especially out of the 24 oz. can.

look: 2.5 | smell: 2 | taste: 2 | feel: 3 | overall: 2.5

Appearance: Pours a clear, thin-looking beer with just a hint of yellow hue to it and topped with a tall, fizzy, white head that crackles away like a bowl of Rice Krispies.

Smell: A faint, meager, ill-defined sweetness and little else.

Taste: Super duper pale maltiness with just a light bit of sweetness. Teeny-weenie floral hop character and bitterness. Then, the tastes clear away in an instant, leaving you with an empty, though clean finish.

Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Drinkability: A hint of alcohol and flavor and bubbly character like soda water. It's Light-ness is without question, though how Natural it is will, most likely, be debated for years to come.

"Natty dread rides again,
Have no fear, have no sorrow, yeah!"

--Bob Marley

I thought this might be the first Macro Smackdown to pit Anheuser Busch against Coors, but a quick check tells me that Busch Light won in a squeaker over Coors Light way back in MacSmack IV. Will the outcome of XVI be any different? I don't know about you, but I'm all atremble with excitement and anticipation.

Exceedingly pale yellow with a modest amount of carbonation. The bright white cap has some character and leaves a little glass coverage as it slowly sinks. On the strength of the head alone, this is the better looking beer by far.

Neither one of the aromas is a standout. They're both barely detectable, a definite plus given what I'm able to appreciate. Natty's nose might be slightly more grain-like and less sweet, but it's hard to tell for sure.

This stuff tastes pretty much like I thought it would. For one thing, it's so mildly flavored that it isn't 'spit it out' awful. On the other hand, it's still cold, so all bets could be off very soon. The flavor profile (ha, good one!) consists of... uh... hmm... I'm stumped. How about this: fill a bucket with barley and rice, add water, soak for a day, drain the water, can it... voila, Natural Light.

A-B wants me to believe that NL is 'brewed for a naturally smooth taste'. Coors makes the claim that KL is 'always smooth'. I'm here to say that neither one of them is smooth in the sense that it's easy to drink. Maybe at first (ice cold), but certainly not once the chill is gone. Oh yeah, both mouthfeels are pretty much indistinguishable from H2O.

It looks like MacSmack XVI is a reprise of MacSmack IV in that A-B has barely edged out Coors to snag the coveted crown. These are two of the least impressive beers that I've had in quite some time. Every time I see seemingly normal people fill their grocery cart with swill like this, I just shake my head and move on. I've given up trying to figure out why this crap sells.

Presentation: 12 oz light silver can with a "Born On Date" on the bottom of the can. 110 calories for a light beer.

Appearance: Pale oh so pale yellow, perhaps the palest beer of them all. Thank the beer gods cause there is a head, thin as paper but there is a head.

Smell: Odd cooked grain and cereal aroma, a bit of dirt in the nose also ... not earth but dirt, perhaps the metallic aroma from the can and the cooked veggie smell?

Taste: Thin body, thin malt. Crisp with a tonic like carbonation and a scarcely smooth mouth feel. Extremely faint malt flavour, cereal grains are more noticeable. Hops are nearly negligible and the only reason they even are present in the flavour threshold is that there is barely any malt flavour. On the dry side with a weird thin flash of sweetness that seems forced. The after taste consists of pretty much nothing except a very faded grain and corn taste.

Notes: Where's the beer? Light beers are light beers but this is on the verge of not even being beer.

This was just wrong of me, but again they offered and I was thirsty. Poured from a can into a cup, as I could just not drink it straight from the can, This one was consumed on 08/09/10.

I thought the Busch poured light, but wow, this was a whole new level. Nearly clear with a huge fizzy head that popped up for a brief moment before settling back down in its chair. Light aroma of hay? Maybe? Hard to tell as it really just did not come across well at all. Light in every sense of the word with an almost carbonated water like consistency and little to no flavor on the finish. The only thing I could really pull from this was a light corn or bready quality

Again I really don't go for these, but I was at the beach and since we now have a nice bottom of the barrel list its giving me something else to shoot for.

A - Poured ice cold into a Bud light nonic. Ivory white dishsoap head with transparent straw colored liquid. Leaves generous smatterings of lace when poured vigorously

S - Odors of fermented white rice, and light bitter odors - not sure if they are hops

M - watery, mildly carbonated, gentle oily texture, somewhat salty.

T - Minimal 'beer' flavor-a generous rice like flavor + metallic off taste. Bitter at times, but not from hops. A light taste that practically vanished as soon as the liquid passed through my mouth.

D - A sad attempt to pass off yellow liquid with rice syrup as a beer.. Adjuncts overtake all other flavors and no real offensive or actual taste is really detected at all.

From 07/26/14 notes. Poured from a 12 oz. can into a pint glass because why not.

a - Pours a clear bright yellow color with two inches of bright white head and moderate carbonation evident. Doesn't look great.

s - Smells of corn, wheat, grains, and bready malts. Not good but not as bad as you'd expect.

t - Tastes of corn, wheat, pale malts, grains, bready malts, sweet corn, and metal. Much worse than the nose.

m - Light body and low to moderate carbonation, watery feel to it.

o - Overall not very good but not skunky as least. Not the worst adjunct or light beer out there, though not good at all.

The drink of choice for college students everywhere...

A: Natty Light is an amazing beverage in that it's physical appearance is almost identical to water. Some bubbles and a slight yellowish tint are the only indications as to its true form.

S: The odor of this beer is of corn and grain. I chose to use odor because I associate aroma with pleasant smells, this is not the case here.

T: The taste is the same as the scent, corn and grains, with a hint of bad decisions. It's slightly sweet and grainy, with no hop character at all. Not that I'm surprised.

M: This is probably the best part about Natty Light. It's light and bubbly, and for a second, you almost forget what it is that you're drinking. Then you taste it.

D: For something that so closely resembles water, this has awful drinkability. Normally light lagers just don't taste like much, but Natty Light tastes bad.

CANtastic! Yet another opportunity to review a CANned beer!

I got a finger of fluffy, bone-white head that slowly fell to wisps. Nose had a cereal quality along with a light lager sweetness. Just one more among many. Color was a light golden-yellow with NE-quality clarity. Mouthfeel was watery thin with a mild sweetness on the tongue. Finish was thin, lightly dry, generally underwhelming. Why bother?

Natural Light, just walk down Grant or McClaine in Morgantown and you will see this beer just about every place you look it seems unescapable down here. Well, my roomate had a party over the weekend and he offered me a leftover beer. According to him this beer isn't bad, and that he doesn't mind it well it appears a fizzy yellow not gold yellow with a quickly dissipating white head leaving drops of lace around the glass with each sip. The aroma has a very adjunct ridden aroma but it is almost bearable due to some detectable sweetness. I don't think this beer has any hops in it, when it comes down to it this beer is carbonated water flavored with "beer". If they sold a beer flavoring this would be it very dumbed down in flavor, aroma, and appearance designed for one thing mass consumption. It's not horrible tasting just there is nothing here worth tasting so, I guess for ten bucks a case this continues to be my peers drink of choice. The mouthfeel is seltza water definitely a poorly made beer that I could never have the urge for, and why drink a ton of this stuff all it will leave you is a bad hangover and a bloated stomach. Pass on the shitty beer if your trying to get drunk and grab a bottle of liquor some Jagermeister treats me much better than a case of Natty.

Pours a pale gold color with very loose, soap-like head that quickly fades. The nose has an apple-like sweetness to it as well as some metallic notes. The taste is just like the smell; sweet apples, grainy, metal. The mouthfeel is very light, overly carbonated, and somewhat dry.

I hadn't had one since college, but I was drinking out of my father-in-laws fridge. It's basically a haven any and all macros so I figured I'd run through as many different ones as I could since it was free. I would never buy this now.
