Pours a clear amber with lots of carbonation and a medium head that quickly flattens out. Aroma is faint sweet caramel malts, hardly noticeable.

Taste is thin, weak and watery, a decent malt base but fizzy like a soda. Sweet, tea-like taste, no trace of alcohol or hops bitterness. Not horrible, fairly easy to drink, but not a very good beer.

"Brewed and available only in Texas?" No thanks, don't try to help us.

Appearance: Crystal-clear medium amber color with a small off-white head, a few large, slow rising bubbles, and lots of broken lace.

Aroma: Lightly sweet caramel notes, slightly nutty malt, faint hints of dark fruit, little else that I could discern.

Taste: Opens with a bit of toasty malt flavor, towards the middle this fades away and there is a little surge of bitterness. The finish is crisp, clean, and dry, rather like a sparkling mineral water.

Mouth feel: Rather thin, the carbonation bites a bit.

Drinkability/notes: Its a light lager, as such, it is not that bad, but its still a light lager, with all that that would imply: a lack of body and flavor.

Presentation: Packaged in a brown glass twelve ounce screwcap longneck, served in a standard pit tapglass.

Ziegenbock was AB's swipe at Shiner's market. Not surprisingly Ziegen Light followed hot on the tail of Spoetzl's recent release of Shiner Light.

The head is bubbly, fast, fizzy and off-white. It dies very quickly. This isn't really a beer head, it's a gingerale head. The beer is darkish brown with some red. It's clear, and there's plenty of carbonation. No lacing. The aroma isn't bad: nice, nutty, malty with a touch of fruit. That faint fruit is the only flavor that survives in the front. The middle is watery tasting. Really watery tasting. The body is light and fizzy. There is a bit of nuttiness at the finish, but that's all.

Ok. I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference between Ziegen Light and Perrier water blindfolded. It really tastes just like Perrier. There may be less taste than any beer I've tried (including NAs). In sum... crappy head, nice color, decent aroma, no taste.
