Budweiser SelectBudweiser Select
Notes: Brewed with two-row and roasted caramel malt for a rich color, and a blend of hand-selected premium American and Bavarian hops for balance and flavor. Budweiser Select spends approximately twice as long as regular beers in the brewhouse, which results in lower carbohydrate and calorie content after fermentation.

Served frosty cold, to numb the taste buds...

A: Bubbly and yellow. Two fingers of head when poured hard. Head disappears quickly.

S: Painfully sweet, corn malt. Repulsive bitter scent. Can't stand to stick my nose in this any more.

T/M: Water? Hints of malt. Whispers of hops. No flavor to note. Light and watery in the mouth. Carbonation is appropriate.

D: Easy drinking. Could drink all day/night, but wouldn't want to. Great beer for college/binge drinking. Looks classier than Bud/Bud Light, but is worse.

Very very light in color, has a large white head that goes away very quickly. This beer hardly had a smell, had a grainy hint. Tasted like a malty lager heavily watered down.

Very good light beer. Low calorie but great refreshing taste for a light beer. Being in St. Louis there is heavy advertising for it as a local beer. Best in cans, good clearing head.

This is my go-to drink. It has been my favorite for a long time (well since the first time I tried one actually), I love the flavor! I love that it isn't as heavy as a Budweiser and not as light as a Bud Light. It's right in the middle and that's perfection in my opinion. There aren't any other beers I've found so far that match that not too heavy, not too light trait. It goes down smooth and it's very refreshing!

As far as light beers go, this is one of my favorites. Look when poured is typical to light beers, light yellow with a white head. Smell is surprising, to me I do smell grass, barley and possibly corn-- I was not expecting much of a smell, but yet it had a pleasant scent, not very strong but present for sure. Taste is definitely grass and rice, very consistent from start to finish. Feel is of course, light but not too carbonated, with little lingering aftertaste. Also beer is not dry at all, so it is very refreshing overall.

I enjoy Bud Select for what it is-- a light beer that is very refreshing. IMO this beer is the best out of all the 'Budweiser' products and is perfect for eating with meals due to it's light feel, or when it's time to quench your thirst on a hot summer day. Also, on another note, this is a great beer to drink to get drunk on-- it is only 3.2 grams of carbs per beer, and with 4.2% alcohol content, you can drink a shitload of these-- I think my personal best is 22 of these in one sitting. (then again I may have forgotten to count one or two!)

Listen...it's not the greatest but I like a light beer on occasion where I can drink 2-3 and not feel full or in the early stages of wanting to take a nap. On a hot Summer day it's refreshing...and there's nothing wrong with that.

Ok as an avid Bud fan I felt I owed it to the people (whoever they are) to review this one. Pours a pale golden color with a big head that rapidly receedes. Other then that it looks totally FLAT. No bubbles rising or anything. Aroma-what aroma? Nowhere to be found. Flavor is best described as if Rainman was describing it-"wet,very wet". Other then that-nothing. Fair mouthfeel-thin but theres something there. Overall-forget it. Im a big believer in a place and time for everything but this is sad. Has to be the worst lite beer I have ever tried or been offered.

Ok, this one needs a little explanation. Budweiser Select is a test product, and I happen to be in one of the test markets. I had seen full-page print ads for this in the local newspaper, and I initially thought that it was a full-fledged new product from A-B. At first glance it has all of the trappings of success...the eye-catching packaging, the competitive pricing ($4.79 for a six-pack), the A-B pedigree to the max. Budweiser Select is actually another foray into the low-carb beer market. The packaging doesn't push this fact but the print ads do. The ads also promise a "bolder" taste, a supposed result of the looong brewing process used to create this beer.

So here's the stickler. Reviewed as a stand-alone beer, this isn't that good. Reviewed as a alternative to Rock Green Light or Michelob Ultra, it's a stand-out winner. I'm not sure if low-carb beers comprise a style yet, but I'll stick to the basic reviewing guidelines and review this against it's competition.

Select is unimpressive to look at. It didn't pour with much of a head. The color was all yellow-straw. Truly nothing to catch the eye going on here. Heavily filtered. Not a hint of anything floating around in the mug except for carbonation bubbles.

The nose was just as weak. No sense of hoppiness or anything, just a mild malt character.

The taste was....ok. Just ok. Compared to Ultra or Rock Green Light, it was great. There is a slightly more pronounced hop flavor than regular Budweiser. Bold? Not really. Definitely less sweet than regular Bud. Maybe a hint of bready malts, but nothing too much.

Mouthfeel was ok. Slight watery character. Mildly carbonated. Strictly average.

I'll score it high on drinkability relative to it's competition. It's WAY better than Ultra or Rock Green Light, for example. It might be a good summertime/lawnmower beer. It probably goes great with pretzels and a ballgame.

I'll give it the ol' "A" for effort. It's a definite step up from the low standards set by other low-carb beers. The splashy packaging and Anheiser-Busch pedigree will probably be enough to make this a market leader if it ever gets released into distribution. Judging by the half-full displays and cold cases, it's a brisk seller here in the Austin test-market.

Budweiser Select has a thin, white head and a clear, yellow-golden appearance, with lots of bubbles streaming up. The aroma is a typical American-style lager smell, but it is a good smell. Taste is very sweet, with some grain and a touch of hops across the sip. This beer is balanced and not too light. The aftertaste is even tart, too some extent. The mouthfeel is light and watery, and Budweiser Select finishes crisp, clean, dry, and refreshing. Overall, this is one of the better light beers on the market, and I think it's at least worth a try.

12 ounce bottle, born on date of 6/26/07. Served in a Sam Adams BL glass, the beer pours a clear straw gold color with an inch white head. Head retention is low, lacing is good. Smells like sweet malt and corn. The aroma isn't bad at all, it's non-offensive. Taste is similar to the aroma, tastes like sweet malt and corn, no hops noticable but for a light lager I don't expect to smell any hops either. No offensive flavors at all, although the corn taste is a little strong. Mouthfeel is light and a bit watery but finishes clean. However, it's very easy to drink. In the bottle or on tap, it's pretty easy to drink. For the style, it's not bad. It's hard to believe, but if you want a light lager there are certainly a lot worse choices out there.

I'll begin saying i'm not a fan of regular Budweiser and fewer light beers.

A: Golden color, the head of foam have a finger thick and comes in a giant black can, which seems like a energy drink.

S: Musty, the aluminum from the can hits your nose;

T: Acceptable, classic lager malt with floral background and grains;

M: Watery and warm, light body and insignificant carbonation, i felt like i was drinking a non-alcoholic beer;

D: A bad beer + 99 calories = lousy beer.

Unlike some others on this site, I'm not above drinking an Anheuser-Busch product from time to time. I'm also not below trashing their products. But come on, if you're going to call yourself "Select," at least taste like something other than Bud Light. It pours clear yellow with the tell-tale foamy white head. More corn and sugar in the nose, but with a bit of metal (even though this came out of a bottle). Taste is sugar-water mixed with rice Chex. Excuse me while I burp again from the carbonation.

Poured from a can into a pint glass

A - A light straw, almost piss colored pour with a small amount of head that dissipates very quickly

S - Smell is just horrible, smells of corn and wheat, but honestly nothing appetizing

T - Nearly no taste at all, maybe a little corn and wheat, matching the smell, but honestly it is almost water.

M - Very thin, expected from a light macro-brew, a decent amount of carbonation, but did not help out at all

D - Easy to drink because of nearly no taste and very thin makeup

Not a great beer, but something to make us college kids feel like they're drinking something classic. Not something I'll buy, and this one was given to me by a friend.
