I can't believe I am actually doing a review on this "beer" - it's basically hobo beer but "hey" I am not going to judge some of my best friends are hobos. It was super cheap $3.99 for 3 24oz can so why not. Aroma was sweet corny, malty, with a slight touch of Frosted Flakes. Fast head receeding quicker than you can say Mad Dog. Carbonation went from super fizzy to flat in about 3 seconds. The taste is deceptively light - there is surpringly no alcohol burn given the high ABV toted on the can. The overall taste is very sweet, no hops to be detected. So try this one at your own risk.

The taste takes some getting used but it is far beter than Steel Reserve, gives a quick buzz for a fair price.

Pours a highly carbonated golden color with a thin head, fast receeding.
Smells sweet, honey, corn, wet cornflakes, definitely some pear, maybe even some spice.
Taste is sweet malt up front, followed by some grassy hop notes with a dry mild alcohol finish.
Mouth feel is full, highly carbonated, with a clean dry finish.
Overall, not bad at all, but I wish the flavor was as nice as the nose.

Hello again, my go-to cheap drink!

Hurricane is, in my opinion, a victim of circumstance. Like other malt liquors, it's commonly associated with the part of town you drive through with your windows up and doors locked, and the neighborhood drunk. In reality, while it's certainly not glamorous, it's not that bad either!

I've had my fair share of craft beers and IPAs, and as much as I like them, I'm not above grabbing a Hurricane every now and then during my trips to the store. The ol' Mewtwo cup has held hundreds of these babies. Even if you don't pour it, the 40oz bottles (notoriously cheap where I live at 2.50) are clear and therefore you can get a good look at it. It's a fairly standard straw yellow, though darker than the typical light beer. The smell is a bit corny and wheaty, but seems to dissipate quickly. It doesn't exactly taste like what you'd want to savor in your mouth, but it's not offensive either, and even with the higher ABV there isn't too much burn. I like to call Hurricane the "chips" of beer, it's just something mild you snack on when you want a really neutral taste and a good time. Just one of these will do me for the night, I haven't the fortitude for more.

For a drink with such a bad rep, I've never personally taken issue with it. On the other hand, it's also the only malt liquor readily available where I live aside from Steel Reserve, but considering I've heard even worse about King Cobra and Colt 45, I'm evidently not missing much.

You don't necessarily buy Hurricane because you're looking for a "flavorful beer"; you get it because you want to drink something that's going to make you feel pretty limber. Hurricane High Gravity Malt Liquor is the one that does the trick. One 40 of this and you're off on an adventure. The others either aren't as well fortified and honestly aren't much better in the flavor department. While the aroma can be off-putting, the taste isn't terrible and there've been harsher malt liquors on the palate. If you're looking for a beer to enjoy, I'd look elsewhere; but if you want a beer to get your party started, this would be it.

Hurricane is the BEST malt liquor. In Nebraska it costs $2.22 for TWO 25oz cans of Hurricane. It's made by Budweiser and tastes the best out of ALL the malt liquors. The price and alcohol content and taste.................it cannot be beat. When Hurricane is flat and drank the next day, it tastes like regular Budweiser. HA!!!!!!!!!

Nasty, nasty, awful, bad, as most of the beers that are all about the ABV tend to be. I don't know how the description of the brewer as "high end malt liquor" applies to this or any of the brews of it's kind.

Recently was dared to review a King Cobra. Actually did not know that Malt Liquor was reviewable on Beer Advocate. Once I looked it up and saw I was, had to go with it. Once I saw that there were seven (seven!) other Malt Liquors at the next-door market, made it a point to review one each Tuesday until I run out. Typically am against all the big boy beers, but I am breaking that rule for this challenge. Next up was Hurricane High Gravity, which I had never heard of prior to seeing it with the seven others a few weeks ago. Currently ranked as the 80th-worst beer, which was better than Mickey’s (68th) and King Cobra and Old English 800 (both in bottom 30). I actually thought Mickey’s was pretty good for the style, but hoping this is better.

Poured a gold clear color with two fingers of frothy-to-fizzy white head. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good spotty lacing. Below average retention. (Sight - 3.50)

Smelled red apple, pear, wet grain, honey, hints of green grape, popcorn kernels, some boozy malts and a smidgeon of spice (cinnamon?). That 8.1 pct. ABV seemed to be slowly creeping through, but wasn’t overwhelming. (Smell - 3.50)

Tasted better than the smell. Not too bad. That 8.1 pct. didn’t taste like it. Got apple, pear, wet grain, green grape, popcorn kernels, lingering unknown spice (cinnamon? pepper?) and grass. (Taste - 3.75)

Light body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, clean finish. (Feel - 3.50)

A pretty solid American Malt Liquor overall. Not as good as Mickey’s, but much better than King Cobra and Old English. (Overall - 3.50)

This beer was undrinkable! I think the only thing that liked it was my drain. Just taste like a sweet, alcohol mess. I guess if I was down on my luck looking to get hammered, I would grab this.

It is not the best or worse, but it definately does it's purpose. It will get you drunk and actually tastes good for a malt beer. If you are looking for a good tasting beer, look elsewhere. If you are looking to get drunk on a budget and taste is still a factor, then this is your beer. It does it's intended consequences, but still tastes much better than other brews in it's class.

Been years since I've visited a malt liquor and particularly one this robust. Alas the usual suspects on sale were a bit thin in inventory. So the Hurricane pours a moderate straw in color and has a typically average cap of foam.

Aroma is a bit boozy with a direct malt character that tells me this is serious. Had no idea that this was a Bud product. Taste is sweet and thick and shows some basic malt depth along with some gooey factor. No hops noted but just an in your face punch.

High Gravity is an appropriate name. It delivers that but not much else. Gimme some Old English any day.

Look - Poured into a frosted mug, a deep golden color, about a finger and a half of white head, surprising amount of lacing.
Aroma - Not bad but not a whole lot going on. Vaguely corny and sweet.
Taste - Grainy, sweet and dry biscuity malt, corn flakes, light bitterness, alcohol is barely noticeable. Finishes clean and very smooth.
Feel - Medium bodied, lots of carbonation, slick, dry, light alcohol warmth.

Overall - It's hot outside, it's my day off and this is hitting the spot. Reminds me of a drier and smoother Steel Reserve. One of life's simple pleasures.

This is one of the better H.G. malt liquors I have tried. This neither good or bad, and it will give you a good buzz without a bad aftertaste.

I'm a smoker and I noticed that with a cigarette or cigar this beer has a nice smooth feeling. The harshness that others report is gone. The smell well not pleasant with a little tobacco is gone.

Appearance is a short lived fizzy head and a deep gold color. Aroma is corn, a little malt. Flavor's sweet corn beer tempered by a little carbonation. Heavy body. Finish is like flavor with lots of booze. I imagine there's a set of people that chug this to get where they're going, while i'm chugging it get it over with.
