Brewed in Houston, ZiegenBock is a beer of the South. Only available in Texas, this American-style amber lager, offers notes of roasted grains in the aroma and a sweet, smooth taste with a hop finish. The select imported hops and specialty malts create a taste worthy of a 2006 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal.

For me, this is the best beer available in my market. I don't drink more than one or two beers a day in the evening time.
I drink this one from the long neck bottle.
About half the time I drink it at room temperature as that's where the flavor is magnified in my opinion. Also the effervescent mouth feel is better at room temperature.
By the way, I really like this beer.

Had a few bottles while visiting @ San Antonio area. Beautiful rich burnt orange walnut brown brew. Nice fluffy head but which disappears pretty quickly. Soft malty nose.
A bit heavier body than what many/most amber lagers provide. Better than most grocery store Texas ambers and bocks. Not a real craft brew… but It definitely grew on me :)
And after I got home I found it had won Silver at GABF …granted quite a few years back.

Medium brown, clear, light tan head.
Not much aroma, smells like a macro lager.
Tastes much like a typical American mass produced lager, a little toasted malt, not much else.
Not great but not bad.

Malty and bready with caramel notes and faint bitterness. Not a particularly strong beer, a little watered-down maybe? Easy to drink though!

Pours a translucent garnet with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly. The smell offers a slight hint of toasty red malts with a bit of toffee and caramel in the background, and it has just a slight floral hoppy smell on the back end. Up front there is a slight breadiness that fades into a faint carmel taste with just enough bittering hops on the finish to keep it from being too sweet. The body is thin and light, it is very drinkable, but I would love to see something like this with a thicker mouth feel. Overall a better AB product than budweiser but not my favorite.

L: Pours a really nice amber/ruby color with a two-finger tan head that hangs around in the glass for awhile.
S: Has an upfront malty aroma, sweet grains, faint amount of caramel, floral hops. Nothing really stands out.
T: Taste follows the nose, unfortunately it does have a bit of a glass bottle taste that takes away from the good flavors of the beer.
F: Light-Medium bodied, dry, crisp & crushable.
O: An okay beer at best, there are many more beers of this category out there that I would much rather drink. The best thing about this brew is how widely available it is in Texas.

(12 fl oz glass bottle)
High expectations after pouring. Colour and carbonation are appealing. Slightly lighter colour than the usual bock and alot of activity happening on the side of the glass and formation of the head looks pretty. The taste couldn't live up to it. Extremely light in terms of taste and not at all aromatic. On a positive note, it is easy to drink.

Another, mostly okay, beer, I am not really sure it tastes like a normal "bock" style beer though. The looks are nice, a rich amber, and it pours well. The taste is just not really there as far as leaving an impression on your taste buds. Not a bad beer, but just one that I would not make a special request for.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a clear light brown color with a super fizzy white head. The head fades almost instantly leaving almost no lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is nice and roasty with a touch of a grain smell as well as a hint of caramel. Along with these smells comes a tiny bit of dark fruit and a hint of earthiness.
Taste – The taste begins with a slightly roasty and brown bread taste that has a touch of molasses and brown sugar upfront. As the taste advances the sweeter tastes fades a little bit with some light earthy and hay tastes taking their place. While the molasses and brown sugar initially fade, they surge back at the every end, and combined with a bit of caramel to leave one with a slightly sweeter and moderately roasty taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is slightly thinner and more watery with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the style a bit more thickness may have been better, but in light of its relatively low abv of only 4.9 % the feel was overall pretty nice.
Overall – A slightly sweeter amber at only 4.9 % with a nice flavor profile and a very easy approachable taste. I see this as a great tailgating brew on a slightly cooler day!!
