Natural IceNatural Ice
Notes: Natural Ice is brewed with a blend of premium American-grown and imported hops and a combination of malt and corn that lends Natural Ice its delicate sweetness. It then undergoes Anheuser-Busch’s exclusive ice-brewing process, which takes the beer to a temperature below freezing and leads to the formation of ice crystals which create its signature rich and smooth taste.

From a 25oz silo:

Appearance: Clear, yellow gold, good head at first, then fizzles out.

Smell: A little barley, then seltzer and clay.

Taste: Mild sweetness, then some fruitiness like grape or apple that reminds me I'm drinking a mediocre high abv beer. Finishes with some nondescript bitterness.

Overall: Picked up a silo out of curiosity and for a cheap lager to kick off a football Saturday. Was a little better than I expected but not as good as an Icehouse or Mickey's or OE800 for a cheapo beer.

Look - poured from a 12 oz can. Pale yellow in color, with actually a sizable head that has some retention, which mostly dissipates after about a minute.

Smell - corn, syrup, and just a tad bit of funkiness. some alcohol comes through in the smell as well if it's warm enough.

Taste - when drank cold, tastes like just about any other adjunct: light, slightly sweet, and a subtle malty finish. however, if it warms, the beer really does taste nasty. in particular, the booziness really comes through, which is rough and reminiscent of gasoline. just drink it cold.

Feel - light bodied, high carbonation, and boozy for its type at 5.9%

Overall - despite the fact that I wrote a full review, Natty Ice really isn't meant to be analyzed. When it's cold, it drinks like any adjunct lager and gets you where you want to be quicker. however, if you sit around and start trying to pick out the flavors, that's when it starts to get nasty. Bottom line: it does what it's supposed to do.

For Ice beers this is my favorite. If we think of the context of what Natural Ice is which is a get drunk quick scheme beer is the best of all ice beers., It is CHEAP and will get the party starting.

Pours 10k gold with a generous but quickly dissipating head. Lightly carbonated, but then again I have this chilled in the mid 30's. Pale malt and a touch of corn dominate the nose. Though not visibly carbonated, there is a fine bubbly fizzation on the tongue, much akin to champs. Mightily crisp, clean, refreshing and quite satisfying, this quencher was far more enjoyable than anticipated. At 2 bucks for the 25 oz or about 6 bucks a six-pack, it's a bit overvalued, but nonetheless enjoyed it on a curiosity powered goof..

This beer is fine.
The taste isn't really great if you stop and think about it, but this beer is not the kind of beer that's made to be analyzed. This beer is like an average main stream comedy movie. It's rude and too much, but it's just there to be enjoyed.
This is blue collar construction worker beer after you get home or when you legitimately want to get a nice buzz on after a hard work week.

The first of the month is here, and you know what that means. I’m sitting on my apartment porch in a lawn chair enjoying the best St. Louis has to offer. I’ve decided to go with the 25 oz format this time as I feel like I deserve it after my walk back from the cumberland farms I bought it from. The first pour into the glass displays a beautiful golden color. The kind of golden hue that my grandmother’s teeth have. The head quickly disipates once the liquid gold is settled. The smell has quite an inviting metallic must to it. Even though the scent of the evolving alcoholic fills the room, the flavor was a bit underwhelming. Essentially all bark, not bite with the taste. There are hints of spoiled apple and aluminum that compliment the stogie I’m ripping on. The feel of this gem is very light and dry like my work ethic. Overall, I rate this a solid 2.5. I can’t wait for next month, so I can treat myself again.

Pours piss yellow with a 1/2 inch white head; lots of bubbles. Not very much to the smell, just a little malt & straw. The taste is actually pretty good, it's not complex so I'm not about to try & break it down. But, it is full bodied & quite nice. The feel is light & pretty high in carbonation, very easy to session to say at the least. This beer is highly underrated for what it is, very affordable & I will definitely be drinking more of these in the future.

Not bad at all, and as adjunct lagers go, pretty good - very light and smooth, mildly bitter, mildly sweet - notes of corn and grain apparent but - you guessed it - mild - very refreshing and enjoyable - i would come back to it

I think Natural Ice is an underrated beer. It is very affordable for any budget, and its light, so you don’t get so full and still has a great smooth flavor. It gives very delicate lacing when poured into a glass. I believe it is a good value at its price point. The alcohol percentage to calories and carbs is a good ratio for the price point also.

I think its an underrated beer. It taste fairly good, can steal the show from some popular American beers I feel. I drank a few of the 16 ounce cans and I didn’t feel dried out like similar American beers and I feel fairly hydrated. The taste is smooth, somewhat sweet corn flavored. Bready taste, can pair with almost any food. Overall a very well balanced beer and I strongly think it deserves more then what people have rated it. It’s an legit American beer!

You know, this is not nearly as terrible as I thought it would be. Review is based on expectations of it being complete garbage. And the price point. Normally drink regular brewery beer (Bell's, Founders, Shorts, etc.) Nothing too specialty - but haven't really bought garbage beer in a very long time. Recently decided to experiment with some of the very price friendly options, which I used to drink way back before good beer was widely available.

I tried to re-introduce myself to a few beers I had experience with - Labatts and Molson products. Or a few other cheapo beers that I never were into - Coors and Miller products. Terrible experiences all around. Those all were like horrible off tasting beer "products". Like not even beer. Like carbonated beer-flavored beverages with added alcohol. Terrible drinking experience, and even worse stomach experience. Not even worth drinking those for free. Especially the Coors, and surprisingly Labatts was just an awful product.

I was at the store and checking out the cheap cans. And there I saw a random "Ice" beer in a black can that, I assumed was Molson Ice. A big 25 oz can for $1.30. So I figured I'd give it another go, and maybe it would be a little better than my last attempt. Sat in the fridge for a couple days, then when I pulled it out to drink - I saw it was "Natural Ice". Something I have only heard about. I knew it was also known as "Natty Ice", and I was not enthused. Did the best thing you can - grab your nicest pint glass and decant it.

And you know what - this stuff is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. In fact, I would drink it before I would touch any of the previously mentioned beers. Taste is not awful at all. It's almost like the other beers switched over to some incredibly economical model where they are selling fake beer, which is bad fake beer. This stuff just tastes like bad beer, but it's at least actual beer. That other stuff gave me strange stomach issues for a day or two after drinking. And it wasn't that I drank too much of it. I started feeling "off" after drinking the first one.

At $1.30 for a 25 oz. can, I would drink it again. It's like a garbage beer, but the way garbage beer tasted 25 years ago. Seems like most garbage beers today are not even beer.

Decent lawnmower/college beer, easy to chug, for the price it’s unbeatable. It’s much better tasting than natural light with more alcohol and at the same price point. The smell/after taste has a smidge of the skunky cheap beer taste but for the most part it’s refreshing and crisp when served ice cold. Easy to pound a few and honestly this beer gets far too much undeserved hate. Easy to drink and unbeatable for the price point. Not to mention the can screams “I drink”.

Natty ice is very transparent and a golden color. There is a faomy white head that dissipates very quickly. The nose is very faint and smells mostly of old grain and corn. The taste is very sweet and somewhat corny. Not much in the way of hops. The feel is very watery and bubbly. Overall it is a watery beer.

Okay what IS an “ice” beer and how is it supposed to taste? Like ice? Dunno, but I guess it is just a way to sell beer with because who can stay untouched by the thought of an ice-cold beer?
Apart from the wording, this is a poor adjunct lager, smells bad, tastes even worse... kind of reminds me of the European Lagers you can buy especially in Central/Eastern Europe. We have this very common back home, what you might call “piss” beer. Well excuse me but there is no exaggeration. Tasteless, dry, highly carbonated, bitter - and you’re drinking it with the sole purpose of getting drunk. Now hands down to its only positive aspect, that it has 5.9% ABV - helps you to get drunk easier.

Can bottom reads '19129NA1150' (presumably canned on 5/9/19)

Pours a crystal clear golden straw body, multiple fingers of white foam cascades, and recedes relatively quickly to a moderate collar and an inconsistent walling of soapy lacing around the glass.

Aroma features a sharp metallic/medicinal grain bursting from the glass upfront, with vague bits of corn sweetness and a light grassy tone adding the only discernible texture to the bouquet as a whole.

Taste opens relatively flat and thin, with only the faintest note of sweet grain; sharper boozy grains and corn peak briefly on the mid-palate, with primarily booze highlighting an otherwise listless finish.

Mouthfeel has a light body with moderate carbonation fading quickly and thinning as the mid-palate peaks and becomes watery into the finish; an alcohol presence protrudes throughout, contributing an unwelcome sharpness.

Predominantly harsh and sharp, with only a backing coolness to the palate saving it from becoming entirely undrinkable; too boozy and with minimal flavor, even for an AAL. There are much better options in the style out there.

Medium gold with a decent white head. Smell is grain, sweetness, and slightly earthy, with a whole lot of adjunctness.
First of all, this is not a snobbish craft brew. It is cheap at $5.49 for a sixer of pints. It is basically a malt liquor so it should be drank as cold as possible. It has an initial sweetness that is balanced with a bitterness and a weird artificial grape drink flavor. It really ruins the flavor. There’s nothing really good about this, it’s economic, that's about it.

Natty Ice is a go-to cheap gas station beer when I just want to get drunk on the low. It doesn't have the greatest flavor but it has a high ABV to surely get the job done without drinking too many. People hate on it, but they're expecting more than what they're buying. It does have a watery taste most likely from the brewing process with ice, but otherwise just tastes like a slightly pungent cheap beer.

Not much there there. Rather watery with no body. Bland so-called "imported" hops. Lots of corn (GMO). Alcohol predominates finish, thus totally unrewarding.

Misunderstood beer. Rather remarkable, really, if you think about it. The "anti-craft" beer. To wit. Craft beers are simply malt and hop forward. This is carbonation, corn, and alcohol forward. Craft should not be too cold. This should be served near freezing. Craft brews are pricey. This is cheap and cheerful. Craft brews are heavy affairs. This is light as a feather. Craft should be served in the appropriate glassware. This you drink out of the can. It's a master class in mass brewing. Incredibly consistent can, to can. The ice brewing process is unique and the domain of mass brewing -- small craft brewers can't emulate it. 100 various ho hum IPAs on the shelves. Only a few ice beers. It's a style unto itself not to be discounted. It does an amazing job masking its relatively high 5.9% abv. Craft brews are high carb and calorie laden -- some are as fattening as a meal. This is practically a light beer -- amazing considering its abv. When it's in the 90's outside at a BBQ, ask me if I want an ice cold Natty Ice or a lightly chilled imperial stout. A refreshing change of pace from heavy craft brews. Tastes terrible, you say? No. It doesn't. It has a pleasing light flavor. Simple, subtle. Doesn't punch you in the face like many pricey craft brews. You might not appreciate the style but that doesn't make it a bad beer. To the contrary. It's a high abv, well-made unique mass-produced AAL "style" of beer, with a unique brewing process, that has its place and is an enjoyable, crushable, brew with a respectable abv.

L: Pale orange color, more orange than most beers except King Cobra. Little lacing and head disappears fast.

S: Slightly sweet and boozy.

T: Sweet, corny, no malt. Slightly fruity, a little gross but little aftertaste.

F: Very thin body. A little more carbonation than average.

Overall: I can see this being popular with people that like watered down beer, but probably the worst of the cheap ice beers. If you want a tasteless beer Keystone Ice is better, if you want a cheap ice beer with flavor Milwaukee's Best is better. Either way MillerCoors does better in this category.

I thought this actually wasn’t that bad. Yes it doesn’t look special - typical pale golden color with minimal fizzy head and no lacing. Smells faintly of sweet corn, malt and grain. Tastes similarly. But it’s smooth and mild and crisp and the sweetness is just right. Not too cloying, not too sickly, no skunkiness. Tastes best cold, decent mouthfeel for what it is (above-average AAL), decent carbonation as long as it’s kept ice cold. I’d drink this on a hot day at the beach, by the pool or grill.
