he only thing I do like about King Cobra is the price. The price is very cheap, and you can usually get them for about 2 dollars. I think that King Cobra would only give me a good buzz if I drank on an empty stomach and I downed it fast. Other than that it didn't give me a good buzz. I didn't really like the taste of King Cobra beer. The taste is very watery. It's not a really bad taste like 211 but it lacks any flavor.

Poured from a 40oz bottle into.......who the fuck am I kidding, this is malt liquor god dammit and the only way to drink it is out of the bottle in a paper bag outside on a hot day

L: typical malt liquor. Piss gold in color. A bit of lacing.

S: lots of sweet corn and malt in the nose with a bit of solvent on there (alcohol). Undertones of wet cardboard.

T: after a few chugs (you are not allowed to sip this shit) I'm getting a bunch of corn/cereal malt sweetness. No hops to speak of except for balancing out the adjuncts. Finish is surprisingly clean with a bit of alcohol residue

M: finishes a tad dry and clean. Not too carbonated thankfully

Certainly not my pick if forced to choose a malt liquor. Id probably go with Olde English over this.

Side note: I rated this a 3/5 since we are rating this according to style. I never understood why some of the dopey BAs here review according to personal choice, not by style guidelines. Nobody has ever said malt liquor or adjunct lagers were brewed for full flavor. If the brewers were trying to make a tasty Munich Helles Lager and the result was King Cobra then yes, this would deserve a 1/5-- but that is not the case. The brewers set out to make a malt liquor and that's exactly what King Cobra is, so if anything a 3 out of 5 is a pretty harsh score. If you don't understand then just do yourself and everyone else a favor and read the BJCP style guidelines before reviewing

The fifth and final entry of BSBRW (Bottom Shelf Beer Review Week). It's been a rough ride, folks.

Appearance : Pours a slightly cloudy golden straw colored body. Appreciable head is formed, about 3 fingers tall, but fizzles out fast to a small creamy ring. Some residual lacing left behind in small pools on the walls of the glass.

Smell : Lots of dry grain, mostly corn kernels; followed by moldy hay and baby powder. Overall a very musty and sweet aroma.

Taste : Mostly roasted grains, with a hint of hop leaf. The taste isn't substantial, but it's not bad either. The musky, sweet, powdery malt funk is kept to a minimum, but it's still there. It ends on both a grainy sweetness and artificial sweetener note. As the beer warms a bit, (and it only takes but a few minutes), the beer's flaws begin to surface and it becomes a drain pour almost immediately. So drink it cold, and drink it fast.

Feel : The drinkability on this beer is supreme. It goes down smoother than most adjunct lagers and quenches the palate wonderfully. Light bodied, crisp, and ends super clean.

Overall : This is not a bad choice for malt liquor. It's mega cheap and drinks easy.

It was a day before payday and I noticed I was down to five dollars in my pocket. Since I realized I couldn't afford a Sammy, Lagunita, or Dust Bowl I decided to buy a couple of ice cold cobra 40's. I was two gulps into my second 40 when I suddenly felt the urge to smoke crack and do a drive by. After finishing it I moved from my apartment into an alley and started urinating in public. I'm hooked.

My malt of choice, very drinkable. But as with malts definitely intended to get someone drunk over a great drink

The King Cobra title is quite appropriate as this malt liquor is leaner (not as sweetly malty as most) and meaner with a surprising touch of hops (light, but present nonetheless).
It pours a crystal clear golden body that's topped by a full and creamy bright white head. It drops shortly to a thin, creamy collar and some whispy surface foam but, surprisingly, it leaves some nice lace about the glass. The nose displays some lightly grainy and sweetish malt (obviously adjunct laden), a splash of alcohol, a touch of mild fruitiness (apple), some mild dimethyl sulfide (or is that just corn?), and some very low-key background hops. The body is light and it's crisp in the mouth. It's a far cry from the dull, semi-thick bodies that some of the sweeter malt liquors have! The flavor delivers a thin malt that's fairly well-balanced between a well-attenuated and only lightly sweet - but very basic - malt (read as adjunct!) and a subtle underlying bitterness. The alcohol is present, but not really intrusive; although you can feel it almost immediately in the throat. It finishes with a swatch of lingering corn-like malt and a wash of drying alcohol.
It's an interesting brew because it's fairly well done, yet it doesn't hit the mark. It's subdued enough that at first sip it seems almost like a regular beer, yet it quickly turns to show many of the negatives associated with the malt liquor style. It's a little bit more drinkable than some due to it's less sweet nature; yet it offers less character - an odd "Catch-22". Faced with a double-doored cooler full of malt liquors, I think I'd look for something else first.

stay away from this shit.

I consumed a 40 oz of this beer. It was the last 40 oz i have consumed to this day, and will forever be the last 40 oz i will ingest. Not the way to enjoy beer, no matter if its craft or otherwise.

anyway, this stuff is terrible. all malt and no substance, all booze and no taste.

The combination of cobra and doritos scarred me for life.

just...dont do it.

I had this beer in a can.

The appearance was completely unknown because.... it was in a can.

It has a weak aroma but not a bad skunky smell as with other cheap beers.

The taste is very smooth but very bland. There are no strong flavors here, but what did you expect? You paid 4 dollars for a 6 pack.

Mouthfeel. This is a great beer if you are just going to chug it down as fast as possible. It is very easy to drink. After you have about 2 of them, they start to taste so delicious.

Overall this beer is great for the price range. Compared to the other cheap beers that cost less that $6 a 6 pack, this is the best choice. You get a huge can and it packs 6% alcohol content.

Yes, this is not a truly fine brew, but it is cold, wet, carbonated, and cheap. You get what you py for, and sometimes it isn't the higher priced stuff. This stuff is not too bad when icy cold on a hot summer day. Actually, it's pretty good considering the price, although it desperately needs some hops. Sadly, adding a decent amount of hops would raise the price, defeating the point of being the cheapest beer around. I give it a 4.5 because it is good value for the money, and probably best in it's class.

Poured from a 40 OZ bottle into a red solo cup. This still couldn't conceal my shame!!!
This beer is horrible from the color, smell to the taste. I didn't even like the label on the bottle. I don't mind a good malt liquor, I like Colt 45, Magnum and Private Stock. But this is awful.

32 oz bottle poured into a cheap Budweiser pint glass (this one doesn't even have the nucleation site on it...) No apparent date, but has some cryptic character strings stamped on the bottom of the bottle and on the label.

Appearance - Very clear pale straw body with a very thin white sticky head.

Smell - Musky earth. Corn. Sod. Witch Hazel. Not very appetizing, but hey, it's a malt liquor.

Taste - Very watered down ethanol. Corn. Musk. Staleness throughout.

Mouthfeel - Ugh. Water with a little slime in it. No body, just an uncomfortable slight stickiness and staleness in the finish.

Overall Drinkability - Haven't had this since I was 17, which is about a decade ago. Turns out there's a pretty good reason for that. My decision to rate this beer makes me feel like a dirty beer-karma slut.
