Alright!! BLP is out! Been expecting this beer for about 2 months. Reading about this beer and reasoning behind it, I've come to this conclusion. This beer was made because BL is a huge seller ( I believe its the #1 seller in us) and that since this beer is found at most college parties, house parties, bars, etc, that there would be a large market of people who go straight for it because its higher ABV. Alot of college people like getting hammered and BLP will get them there, and they're familiar with it. On to the beer.

I've had malt liquor before, I admit it. I think it smells like no other beers with that chemical smell goin on with it (similar to four loko). BLP has a bit of this smell but not as bad, its a cross. I can tell right off that there is traditional BL in this, but the aftertaste has that malt liquor flavor to it. I am willing to tolerate it with the extra ABV. And I like that fact that the mouthfeel is better with the more moderate carbonation vs. regular.
Overall I think that this beer will work out well. Personally I think that it tastes different than BUD ICE, althought similar in ABV. I think I like it because to me BL is a go to beer for chugging and now that its lower carbonation it will make that easier. And the added alcohol is a bonus for the purpose this beer serves for me.

Tastes and smells like a cross between skunky bud light and malt liquor.

BLP has 6% alcohol and 137 calories. King Cobra (another AB product) is 6% and 133 calories per 12 oz. That is not even counting the extra calories that you'll burn lifting the heavier bottle.

I suppose it's a wash since I poured out a little of my BLP for my homies who are no longer with me.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into pint glass.

Appearance: Pours your typical AAL clear pale golden, with a quickly disappearing white one-finger head. Zero lacing.

Smell: Corn, and a weird chemical smell.

Taste: Similar to the smell, but not as horrifying...but close. All you taste are adjuncts, alcohol, and metal. Oh and an overwhelming sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Light and crisp.

Overall: Not worth a try. Bud Light with more alcohol and sweetness. Ugh.

This is a nice light beer that shouldn't be reviewed as a craft beer or expected to be something it is not. Too many biased reviews on here for this beer.

A-Pale yellow lager color. Typical for a beer of this type. Maybe a little paler than a regular Bud light.

S-Smells funky. Kind of that bitter lager smell with a little fruity note. Not offensive at all.

M-Very bubbly, the carbonation burns (which I love) and tickles the mouth. Almost champagne like.

O- I enjoyed it and I'll probably buy it again. Will I put it on my next beer list? nah, not for awhile. But I'm sure someday I'll want something light and refreshing, and it'll be this.

Served in a tumbler.

Been waiting with baited breath for this randomness to come out. Call it a ticker's curiosity. It pours a clear straw topped by a finger or so of white foam. The nose is faint, with undertones of corn syrup, light grass, light sweet flowers, and mild wheat. The taste is a blast of corn syrup sweetness, with some grains hidden behind. A touch of sweetgrass flares up as well. The body is a light-leaning medium, with a moderate carbonation and a lightly syrupy feel. Overall, this honestly ain't as bad as it initially sounded. Frankly, I'd take this over a normal Bud Light any day...

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into pint glass likely fresh. This pours a straw color with a decent white head high bubbling carbonation. The smell is as expected, adjunct, sweet malts, no real hop presence. The feel is light, taste is similar to regular bud, nice marketing ploy though.

Why???? WHY??? DO I KEEP TRYING these beers?

A: Pours with basically no head and no fizz. Once it settles you could piss in a glass and sit it next to this beer and couldn't tell the difference. Not cool

S: Smell is corn, some weird fruit flavor and almost a bit like....ZIMA!!!! Whatever the combination is it just doesnt work.

T: Wow - taste is like a diet drink. Is there nutrasweet in this? My god i feel like I'm drinking an appletini.

M: Not bad - carbonation is low and this beer will likely be very popular in fraternities and sororities.

O: COMPLETE FAIL. I can tolerate bud light. Can't tolerate this one even though I want to at 6.0 abv.

Maybe considered to be a high-gravity light beer, Bud Light Platinum breaks all the rules and traditions of beer to accomodate those who don't like beer but wants the buzz to come in a couple drinks rather than multiple.

Extremely light in straw with hardly and color at all- even ginger ales have a more beer-like appearance than this. Efforvescent streams of carbonation fuel an absolute fizzy head for a moment or two before falling flat. A rather dull looking beer overall.

Aromas of mineral water and grain carry a sweetish cereal component that dominates the nose. Vegital and with an apple-like sulfur note, the beer offers very little aromatic value.

Flavors do much the same. When the taste of water gives just as much intensity as the rice, corn, and aspirtame sweetness, then that might become a complement rather than a criticism. Minerally, like hard water and raw grains struggle to offer any bready malt notes or floral hop profiles.

Very light throughout and with an evaporative cooling from the alcohol dryness that starts almost immediately, even while the grainy-sweet taste is still present early on. Thin, watery, and dry- this is the closest thing I've taste to alcoholic water.

Surprisingly, I'm not too terribly off put with this beer. It's probably because there actually has to be a taste present in order to critique negativley. There's just no 'there' there.

I bought a 6pk of this from Woodman's in Janesville, WI for $6.39 in early 2012.

Pours a very pale yellow color almost like it is a glass of tainted water. A slight head but it disappears quickly. Not too strong of a scent, mostly just hints of cheap earthy grains. The taste isn't too bad. It has a sweet, easy, drinkable texture. Only a slight reminisce of beer in the after taste. Definitely would take this over a Bud Light or MGD 64.

From a bottle stamped 12015BK83. Sampled on January 31, 2012. The pour was pale yellow with a short lived fizzy white head. The aroma was better than most lights with a decent combination of grains, malts, sugars, and a clean hop note. The body fell in the medium range but also had a smooth creamy character. The taste was also on the grainy side with a clean hop bite and something almost fruity. A light beer with 6% ABV. This is better than some folks give it credit for.

Calories=137. Carbohydrates=4.4 grams. 6.0% ALC./VOL. As a type 2 diabetic who still loves to drink beer this offers a decent alternative to most low carb options. It is very crisp with some more flavor than most low carb beers. Still very light though. The alcohol content is surprising as it doesn't taste much like an ice beer or high gravity lager. It is light years from my unfortunately now rare passion Duvel. But it does offers a lot more in many ways to those of us who must watch carbs for health reasons. Considering that Bud Light is the #1 selling beer, my guess is that Platinum will be a huge marketing success for AB-InBev.

12oz. bottle served into a pint glass

Pours out a very pale yellow color. It looks remarkably like, well, Bud Light. It even has the whole soap suds-looking white foam that dissipates completely in like twelve seconds. This looks like shit, but don't all adjunct lagers? At least you can see that there is a pretty steady stream of carbonation here.

On first sniff, this smells like an amped up Bud Light: there's the ricecorn nothingness and the slight floral note. But it soon opens up to smell a lot like a diet malt liquor. Actually: there's more fruitness than that. It's like a white wine cooler. But with rice. Very sweet with nary a balancing hop to be smelled.

The taste follows the nose, only with less fruit. Some sugary, synthetic fruit flavor would improve this. You know how sometimes water from a refrigerator's water filter/ice maker will have a plasticky taste to it? Bud Light Platinum tastes like you made a bowl of rice with that water. Plus some sugar, because assholes sugar their rice and you are probably an asshole. The finish is like you ate an entire sleeve of rice cakes. Awful & boring, simultaneously.

The mouthfeel feels somewhat lively on the tongue, but the beer is slick and thin on the swallow. Below average, but not a disaster. Overall, this is a below average adjunct lager. It's diet malt liquor. Does this taste better than Bud Light? I guess, sure, because it has a taste.

Marketing, marketing, marketing, cool blue bottles Bud Light with a bit more alcohol and flavor not just premium but platinum. Pours a fizzy yellow bright golden color with white head dwindling quickly. Aroma has some green apple notes with a faint slightly metallic note with cooked veggies and cereal grains. This is like putting a tuxedo on a malt liquor. Flavor has the sweetness, like sweet creamed corn notes and a touch of rough alcohol herbal hops. Juicy fruit and sweet malts defines this beer pretty much. Sweet even cloyingly so brings beer to a new level of mass production and acceptable sweetness levels. Overall a beer I will drink with friends who buy this but I won't be spending 11.99 on a 12 pack again, although my wife seems to enjoy the effects of a beer that drinks just as easy as Bud Light but has the full alcohol level of 6% abv.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle to a bud light pint glass, classy.

Well, well, well, lets see here, pours a straw golden diet gingerale with a frothy 1/2 finger foam head that lays atop the beer nicely for most of the time. Grainy smells of corn and grass come through mixed with a slight rubbing alcohol touch, oddly not offensive in anyway. Ah, the taste, rubbing alcohol feel without the burn, corn, old stagnant water with some hand sanitizer dripped into it...weird tasting shit. Mouthfeel; well its light, real light, very light....not much body or balance to this what so ever. Come together now folks, now i dont quite understand why this beer exists, and i hope soon it doesnt, but it does and right now im drinking it. It has no smell, no taste, and no feel to it, its just all around a bud light with some hand sanitizer in it.

Poured from the 12oz bottle into hoegaarden glass

A-very pale yellow. a bit more golden than a normal BL. small head the dissappeared fast. doesnt look like much carbonation compared to others of the style

S-Rice, cereal, straw, corn. not much to it

T-corn and rice. pretty simple as well. tastes like they added more flavor to this one compared to BL. Sort of like regular Budweiser, with a bit more alcohol to it.

MF-very light. nothing to it. pretty watery.

O-very average. better than BL. about equal with bud, but i would probably pick a normal bud.
