Pours a muddled amber color, with a white head, dissipates to a foamy collar. Light lacing. Aroma is grainy, lightly sweet, with a nutty quality to it. Taste is sweet, caramel, light wood, nuts and no real hop notes. Sweetness lacks balance, really. The feel is light in body, mild crispness, somewhat oily and slick.

There's nothing about this that really stands out. The unfortunate and unnecessary aspect of these "contest" brews is that they're all just marginally differing from th base beers that they brew day in and day out. What's the point?! Two amber lagers and an effing pilsner does not scream diversity!

A - Crystal clear, dark golden with a short head that was gone pretty fast.
S - Can't distinguish between this and Bud original. Maybe less rice and more malt.
T - A slightly maltier Bud. Not as harsh as a regular Bud, but definitely leaning in that direction. Sweetness is approaching fake
M - Pretty thin, but nice sharp carb.
O - Not as good as the Bourbon offering from the same mixed 12. Not offensive Fraternity beer, but not craft either. Meh... Probably a good beer to wash down some pizza.

I think I like this one the best of Bud's Project 12 Series. Like the others, this one is still a Budweiser.

This beer pours a dark golden or amber color. It has a very faint smell. Sweet carmel malts come through as the dominant flavor. Finishes with only a mild bitterness.

It is fairly easy to drink. I think this beer would go great with a steak or burger.

It is a nice beer, nothing that will blow you away, but it is enjoyable. And better than Budweiser or Bud Light.

Ba Review #244
Served On: 12/12/2012
Glassware: Weizen Glass
Labeled ABV: 6.0%
Date/ Code: 12274WA23 (???)

This was from the 'Project 12' mixed pack I found at Evergreen Liquors in Frederick, MD ($11.99).

Look: Poured a crystal clear light copper. High carbonation. Some thin patches of lacing here and there. Head was a thin white coating.

Smell: Super sweet nose with a wet basement character. Some wet hay notes present. Also some grainy corn. Nothing too spectacular.

Taste: First up were sweet corn notes. Then not too much else. Maybe some toasted grain. This one did have slightly more character than ‘Batch 23185’.

I'm sorry but there has to be some artificial coloring used here. The amber tone seemed to suggest some sort of malt bill, but it just wasn't there. Typical AB-Inbev: appealing look with no real substance. Just my opinion.

12-oz. bottle into a pint glass at my house on Dec. 5, 2012 (purchased the 12-pack for $12.99 at the 7/11 near Allied Gardens (San Diego) on Dec. 4, 2012. Caramel amber with about a finger of gray head that disappeared very fast. No retention on the top or sides.

Smelled caramel, toffee, roasty nuts and a bit of bitter chocolate malts. Had to work for it though.

Tasted not too much like the smell. Got a sharp whiff of alcohol up front and a bubble of carbonation that gradually built up to a malty finish. Got slight caramel but nothing too special.

Medium-to-light body. Thin texture. Lively (above average)-to-fizzy (good) carbonation. Abrupt finish.

Not a bad effort, but the Williamsburg (23185) batch was the best in my opinion. I’d have this one close to the St. Louis (63118).

Nice clean coppery orange, no head.

Smell is budweiser, albeit cleaner and more...maltier?

Taste is perplexing to me. I get...malt and maybe its woody body, but...finishes surprisingly clean. Aftertaste is bit of budweiser, but not imposing.

I would expect the maltier brew to be my favorite of these "Project 12" beers, but the Pilsner has better mid-ground flavor. Its not bad at all though, and it makes me wonder if Budweiser will keep these recipes around for a re-release for seasonals. I can see this being decent as a fall/winter beer.

Poured into a pint glass. Pours clear, light amber with a white head. The head is two-fingers in thickness and dissipates at a moderate pace. There are a lot of visible tiny bubbles in the beer. The beer smells of toasted malts and some caramel. There are some grassy hop notes as well, but they are mild. The taste follows the nose and there's the distinctive beechwood flavor normally detected in Budweiser. The nutty and malty flavors are pretty well pronounced here. It's bready with some mild sweetness. The hops provide some balance. The body light to medium with moderate carbonation. The beer finishes crisp and this is drinkable. This is a good beer.
