330ml bottle:

Pours a milky pale orange. small white cap some lacing.

Aroma distinctly citrus and not much else but some sweetness.

Thinish body, sweet citrus flavor, barely detectable malt presence, spritzy drying finish...tastes like grapefruit soda....far too sweet.

I tried it. I don't need to try it again..I can't see the point..fills a niche no one cares about..

Bought this for my wife but tried some and was confused how i felt about it as the combo of grapefruit and hefe is not bad as a beer alternative but really it is not a true beer. It is refreshing and low in ABV but the desire in my part is just to have a straight hefe,

This is a mix drink, If I am reviewing this as a Hefeweizen, I would say it's really bad. It has a very strong grapefruit (not natural) smell and flavor and a small hint of Hefe, almost nothing.
It's like a soda. I think this should not be filed under Hefeweizen.

On the other side, people who like grapefruit soda might like this, as the smell and flavor hints from the Hefeweizen could add some kind of complexity to the very strong soda feel.

Ok, this beer probably needs to be re-classified. I mean, have you ever seen a 2.5% hefeweizen with no head retention that tastes like grapefruit? I rest my case.

Appearance - 3.5
The actual colour and cloudiness is not too far from a regular hefeweizen, although the grapefruit pink tinge is certainly unusual. Head is pretty much non-existent thanks to the citric acid.

Smell - 3.0
A sharp and sweetish grapefruit aroma, not too dissimilar from what a grapefruit based soft drink would emit.

Taste - 3.5
Far closer to being an alcopop than any fruit lambic I have tried, but that said, it is still far more complex and balanced than any alcopop. The smooth hefeweizen wheatiness is there, but it plays second fiddle to the sweet, sharp, acidic grapefruit flavour. Very refreshing.

Mouthfeel - 2.5
This is where the softdrink comparison is most noticeable, the bubbles feel harsh on the tongue, and the sugar leaves the mouth feeling sticky. Surprisingly heavy mouthfeel.

Drinkability - 4.0
Despite the very low alcohol volume, I would not call this a session beer due to the strong acidity, and to a lesser extent, the sweetness. This said, it is very easy to drink one, and it is hard to think of a more refreshing drink for summer.

OVERALL - 3.35
Despite the somewhat mediocre score, this is a beer that I will definitely be buying again. I would rather drink this than any light beer I can think of, and will likely take it to a barbecue on a summer's day. Well worth trying for any beer drinker, and MUCH better than any radler I've tried.

NOTE: I didn't know what I was drinking when I reviewed this

Pours very pale with a cloudy appearance. White, respectable head, leaves a thin-ish film, decent lacing but not great. Too many floaties.

Bizarre nose, like lemon squash, very sugary and fruity with a slight tang. Not beer-esque at all, this is completely anomalous drop that pretty much smells exactly like soft drink.

Again, very lemony with a slight tartness but mostly a candy sweetness that is like beer with sugar cubes dropped in it. Not pleasant, has no beer taste and is also watery. Mouthfeel is VERY thin.

This is piss in a glass, the puckering aspect is all there is to pique my interest. Obviously a chick beer, obviously a feeble attempt to call itself beer while actually tasting nothing like it. Fuck you, drink.

Cloudy orange yellow with a huge frothy head of dense sparkling yellow bubbles. Very thick. Looks decent enough.

Huge grapefruit sparkling citrus character on the nose. Nothing else. Smells like soft drink, or a premix alcopop. Citrus, acidity, sugar. Not that that's necessarily bad, for what it is. It's just strong, weird and un-beerlike.

Thin alcopop sour-sweet flavour too, with a lingering wheat acidity that tastes surprisingly meaty after the sharp fruit-acid character. Grapefruit leaves a dollop of bitterness on the very back, but don't get me wrong, it's not a beer-like bitterness.

It's very refreshing, and easy to drink, of course, but it's an odd concoction. I'm happy enough to drink it on occasion though.

Thanks to matta

A: Pours very orange and fizzy, very soda like, if you did not know you would guess more Sunkist than beer.

S: Light grapefruit aromas up front, with notes of acid from the carbonation, sugar, and oversweet malt.

T: Tastes like a mix of soda and beer with soda making up more of the mix. Fizzy orange soda flavors up front with notes of the grapefruit pushing thru. A light boozy beer tasty in the finish.

M: Light and Fizzy.

D: This is a very unique brew. On the surface it is not one that I think I would like. It is also not one that will ever rate off the scale. That being said I could pound a few of them after mowing the lawn on a hot Florida summer afternoon, and to be honest I probably will.

Chicks will dig it as well.

Poured a rather bright orange colour (like a muted fanta orange) with a fizzy bubbly head that disappeared pretty quickly.

Smells very citrussy and sweet with wheaty notes.

Has a very subtle and moreish grapefruit citrus/wheaty beer flavour. Very pleasant and refreshing.

Light on the palate and not too heavy on the fizz. Is going down very fast. I could drink this all night.

Could be construed as a girly alcopop type drink (just without the alcopop tax)

A - Cloudy vibrant orange colour poured with a few centimetres of fluffy white head that falls away fairly quickly.
S - Grapefruit is very dominating, the Hefeweizen character is there but only just.
T - The taste, like the smell, is also dominated by grapefruit.
M - Light to medium bodied. Quite suprisingly the carbonation is quite lower than a regular Hefeweizen.
D - The low ABV% helps the drinkability but I won't be buying this again.

Bottle: Poured a glowy orange color weizen with a pure white bubbly head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma is totally dominated by the grapefruit which are not as syrupy as I expected. Taste is also dominated by nice grapefruit notes with some very subtle wheat note. Not something I would drink on a regular basis but it does work a lot more then I had expected.

12oz single bottle purchased from LCBO in Toronto.. Pours a cloudy orange with a tinge of pink. Aroma is slightly fruity. The taste is as advertised. Fruity, first and foremost. The beer flavours are more of an afterthought. Not easily identified as a wheat beer. Tangy on the tongue. A beer cocktail - but not really a beer. Girly and yummy. Sure is going down fast.

330 ml bottle from the LCBO, seems interesting!

Pours a cloudy orange, tangerine/grapefruit kind of colour, thin white head forms, quickly settles to a thin ring, no lacing. Smell is weird, reminds me of a bathroom, grapefruit, oranges, yeast, wheat, bananas, spice, keeping me on my toes. Taste is very sweet, like grapefruit or orange juice, tangerines, some banana/clove weiss character, very sweet and sugary, almost a bitter rind feel to it. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium to high carbonation, feels like carbonated juice. On the sweet side, almost cloying. Pretty neat stuff but not really my cup of tea, little too sweet for my liking.

A soft crayon orange as was evident from the clear glass bottle. Haze is impenetrable near the top although pastel lemon edges allow some inhibited clarity in spots. The head, which later would become no more than a collar, is flawlessly bleach white which gives it an eerily artificial appearance. My better judgment would say this will be a refreshing beverage, whether I'm ready to accept that or not.

The smell is intensely fruity. I usually go to hopped up IPAs for my grapefruit, but this smells considerably more authentically fruity. I do sense a touch of the sharp, cutting acidity of the grapefruit, but more so I'm reminded of the Starburst chewy candies and orange pop-sickles.

I don't think you have to like grapefruit to find this appealing. You do taste grapefruit, but the beer has a citric, fruity flavour in the more general sense. The citrus is cutting, but only as much as it is with an orange juice. The acidity sort of substitutes for bitterness, which like the alcohol, is virtually non-existent. The taste is fine, I almost wish it left a little more aftertaste.

Say what you will, but there's nothing wrong with this beer. I can see something like this being very popular with a number of crowds, including the masses of Germans who can recognize good beer, appreciate a proper hefeweizen, but prefer it cut with a little fruit syrup. This would work well in North America as an " alcopop malternative" with the cooler crowd. Myself personally, I wouldn't buy it again, but I see no reason not to drink the bottle I've opened.

An interesting summertime beer. Lots of fruit, but still recognizable as a beer through its taste and aroma.

Pours a great big head over top of an orange -pink brew that shows lots of carbonation. Lots of grapefruit in the nose, but the hefe lurks in the bacground and still delivers some spice.

Drinks more like a spritzer than a beer, but quite evenhanded and refreshing.

Nicely done.

Pours a cloudy bright orange colour with little head, looks like fruit punch or a cooler or something, interesting.

Skunky with some hints of a wheat beer, bananas and definately citrus/grapefruit.

Tastes almost like Hoegaarden with loads of grapefruit juice mixed in it, nice and bitter at the end.

Decent beer, very unique.

Pours a murky peach with a very thin, fast dissipating head. Lacings non-existant. Oodles of visible carbonation.

Smells, surprisingly, like a decent hefeweizen. Lots of banana, powdery yeast and sweet citrus, accentuated by the grapefruit.

Tough one to describe. As one might expect, the grapefruit really takes over. You get hints of the wheat beer, which seems to be well crafted, lingering in the background but it isn't allowed to come through. You do get some banana, but the malt is really hard to pin down.

Mouthfeel is surprisingly good for all those bubbles. Medium bodied and very smooth.

This is what it is. A perfect summer brew... although only slightly more manly than a wine cooler.

Pours a deep straw color with faint pink highlights. The head is pretty much non-existent. light wheat malt and banana esters in the aroma are overpowered by sweet citrus and grapefruit. The taste is very much like a grapefruit soda, sweet and tart with lots citrus flavor. A bit of hefeweizen character is noticeable but really lies in the background. There's a sacharine sweetness in the finish. Must be some sweetener going on.

This is only half a beer, its basically a summer time fruit beverage with some beer qualities. OK, but I prefer 100% beers.

At only 2.5%, I'd be inclined to call this a fruit beer (though it's a dying style on BA). It's sort of a malternative really.

A: Hazy orange. Really orange. I've never seen a beer so "orange". Off-white head, very little retention or lace.

S: Big grapefruit citrus aroma.

T: I'm not overly fond of Radlers, so I was a little skeptical about this mix... but it actually works! Unfortunately, it's hard for it to measure up to a great hefe. Plenty of grapefruit juice, a little lemon & hints of an underlying hefeweizen.

M: Very light body, mostly juice.

D: Very drinkable.

I'm glad I bought two bottles of this beer, because I didn't really like the first one. I wanted to drink a beer, and was not too impressed at what was in my glass.

The second however, I knew what to expect, and drank it on its own merits.

This is an odd one, at only 50% beer, 50% grapefruit "drink", but the bitterness of the grapefruit is actually a complementing taste to the beer.

This is meant to be a refreshing "drink" rather than a true to style beer (not quite Reinheitsgebot material here).

Head dissipates quite quickly (only half beer after all) and the carbonation is way too high for my tastes, but it is a nice refreshing drink. After taste seems like what beer kool-aid might taste like.

A - Cloudy orange with a wispy white head.

S - Grapefruit, some spiciness, kinda like cough syrup

T - Fairly sweet, some bitter orange and of course grapefruit. Hint of honey as well. Light bitter finish. Seems more orange-y grapefruity.

M - Light body with lots of carbonation.

D - Interesting take on a fruit beer. Flavour profile seems more consistent with various alco-pops than a hefe. My beer hatin' gf said it was OK...

A: The color is actually kinda cool, sorta glows amber yello but dull. the head is like non existent though, its weird

S: smack you in the face grapefruit, not like an ipa might "resemble" its like unsweetened bitter grapefruit almost sour very intense

T: yup grapefruit... not sweetened which i guess it need not be, but thats one tart fruit. doesnt much taste like a beer, more like a beer cooler?

I got this from my friend who is from germany. so i had to try it, but even he said its not considered the "creme dela creme" in germany so i think i will stick with that. Im sure their other styles are good, but this much fruit is too overpowering
