Doopie brought this one out for a random beer night. Cheers!

From a bomber into a snifter
Beer #15

APPEARANCE: A slightly transparent black pour yields a one finger, medium looking, really annoyingly fizzy, mocha colored head with decent retention. Black body with medium carbonation evident. Head fades to a good wisp and ring but leaves no lacing down the glass. Good body, but fizzy head.

SMELL: Smoked notes, caramel and licorice initially, then some roasted grains and a hint of dark chocolate. Caramel with toffee under the roasted and smoky notes. After some time, this basically just reminds me of Coke with some licorice in it.

TASTE: Lots of toffee, caramel and licorice mixed up with some roasted flavors up front. Big and lingering finish with toffee again, roasted and smoky flavors, burnt notes, and hint of dark chocolate and lots of sweet, cola-like flavors. The more this sits, the more it's just Coke in beer form.

PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. A touch light on the palate, creamy enough, goes down smooth and finishes a touch sticky. A bit light perhaps, but alright.

OVERALL: Not very good. This one is really sweet and the combination of flavors just screamed Coke the whole time. The fizzy head and lighter body didn't help the situation either. I guess someone might appreciate this one perhaps, but it's definitely not a flavor profile I found enjoyable at all. I'd pass on this one if it were offered again. Cheers for sharing dude!

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with nice black chocolate notes and some cocoa is pleasant. Taste is also dominated by semi-sweet black chocolate notes with some light dry roasted malt notes and some cocoa notes re also identifiable. Body is full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not as dry or bitter as some other example of the style and somewhat lacking in compelxity but still really enjoyable.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Half year old bottle, stored in the fridge. Pours pitch black with a thin light brown head that dissipates to a thin film with light lacing. Aroma of sweet dark toasted malt, chocolate, hints of caramel and coffee, light char. Flavor is similar to aroma, dominated by sweet dark toasted malt, charred coffee, dark chocolate, light toffee and a hint of cherry. Finishes a bit drier with lingering coffee and grassy hop bitterness and hints of tart fruit and char. Medium to heavy bodied with light creaminess. A nicely made Russian imperial stout on the charred coffee side of the flavor spectrum. The malt body is good, but fades a bit in the finish, leaving the char and bitterness a little stark. It hit all the flavor notes I hope for in a RIS, with initial rich and flavorful malt. If it was brewed again, I'd buy another one.

Gigantic Brewing Co. 'Most Premium Russian Imperial Stout' @ 10.0% , served from a couple of 650 ml bottle's purchased for $8.15 each

A-pour is a dark cola brown from the bottle to near black in the glass with a hint of ruby red peeking thru a thin small tan head leaving a minimal lace ring

S-ripe cherries , booze

T-somewhat smoother than Hornbeer - Fundamental Blackhorn , still a lot of smokeyness

MF-ok/good carbonation , full bodied

Ov-ok/good beer , decent 'RIS' , no wow factor
