Modest, off-white head, but it sticks around. Decent spots and blankets for lace. The color of the liquid is brown but light enough to allow faint light to shine through the center of the glass. Hard to tell, but I believe the liquid is clear.
There's a pleasant caramel malt start to the smell. The hop presence is floral and gentle.
The beer has plenty of crystal malt--it's equally sweet and biscuity. The Hop is stronger on the tongue than the nose. But this is a nicely balanced beer. The "Winter IPA" moniker is apt; the darker malts are reminiscent of a winter warmer while the hop keeps this IPA like. The body is neutral as is the carbonation. I get a bit alcohol warmth in the dark malt-hop bitter aftertaste.

Interesting beer! Poured from a bomber into a tulip glass. Cloudy darkish brown with a wonderful thick, fluffy beige head and great lacing. Earthy smell. Citrusy hoppiness and a nice malty backbone. Some warm spice too. Enjoyed it!

22 oz. Bomber
Pours a pretty nice golden dark brown color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger off-white head, which also leaves some very nice thick/creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, with some malts, citrusy. The taste is hoppy, some maltyness, citrusy, licorice, kinda spicy. Medium body, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, tasty, quite different take on the style.

This winter IPA is way more winter than ipa. Still very good balance beer but no really bitter hops to taste. Good malty backbone to this one. not sure of the bus but I'm guessing under 50

22oz bottle - so this is a 'Winter IPA', solely because it was released in, um, winter? Weak. What's not weak, however, is some classic AC/DC, yo!
This beer pours a mostly clear, dark orange-brick brown colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and chunky beige head, which leaves some wispy and sudsy cloud form lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.
It smells of dank pine resin, gritty and bready caramel malt, some indistinct berry-forward fruitiness, oversteeped black tea, further understated citrus notes, and more leafy, weedy, and floral green hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy caramel malt, some orange, lemon, and white grapefruit citrus rind, sugary berry fruity notes, tannic tea, and more leafy, earthy, and musky floral verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly tame in its basically perfunctory frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and genuinely smooth, with a nice creaminess evolving as things warm up a tad around here. It finishes well off-dry, the big caramel malt not letting its foot off the gas for even a hot second.
Overall, this is much more like a hopped-up red ale, than an actual IPA, as the malt holds the hops' balls in a vice-like grip. Other than that observation, this is enjoyable enough, and easy to drink, especially if you are not averse to all things sweet, i.e. the majority of the human race.

Dark copper color pour with an off-white one-finger head. Really nice floral hoppy aroma. Taste is slightly bitter with hints of pine, nut and tea flavors. Also has a really nice malty backbone with a strong bready flavor standing out. Nice mildly bitter aftertaste.

An exceptional winter Ipa that delivers a nice citrus flavor that is more lighter then most winter ipa. Definitely recommend!
