Named for a climb on the Elephant’s Perch in the Sawtooth Mountains, Myopia joins the latest hazy craze of New England style IPA’s. Is it a fad, a replacement for orange juice, or just nearsightedness? We can’t see through the

Can from Boise Co-op. Latest to jump on the hazy train, Sawtooth kicks out a nice summer beer, juicy and refreshing. Hits all the right notes with some nice citrus peel bitterness. Citrusy, lemons. not so much tropical.

12oz canned 1/20, pours pale straw with light-to-moderate haze into a pint nonic. Light floral notes with impressions of mild pine and some citrus, moderate soft bready malt, tropical fruit bordering on coconutty, light grassy character. Lighter bodied with mild bitterness, malty finish bordering on resiny at times. Overall this one isn't bad, I actually didn't expect much when I picked this one up and I'm not upset that I tried it.

Lightly hazed deep gold with one finger of white head. Not much lacing but I used a shaker pint glass.
Smell is fruit orange mango melon. Some bready malt also.
Taste is resinous bitter hops with some citrus fruit traits. Good bready malt support for an IPA.
Mouthfeel is medium with moderate carbonation. The finish is slightly wet but mostly balanced.
Overall an average hazy IPA. Easy drinking. Canned on 07-11-20.

Review #1420
I picked up this beer when I was working Hailey from the brewery. No date on the can does give me pause of the age. The few beers that I have consumed from Sawtooth so far have been average. Nothing has been mind-blowing. The beer is 44 degrees and served in a pint glass. The pour of the beer produced a two-fingered head with above average retention. The bright white foam is creamy and airy. As the head slowly dissipates, it does leave lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 3, pale straw with a tinge of gold. This beer is somewhat hazy with few carbonation bubbles. The appearance of this beer is above average for this style.
The beginning aromas in the beer I smell are floral, orange, and lemons. Nosing further, I perceive, toasted biscuit, bay leaves, pineapple, mango, a scent of pine, floral esters, and bread.
The flavors in the beer are orange peel, lemons, a touch of grapefruit, pineapple, bay leaves, phenols( akin to band-aids), toasted biscuits, mandarin oranges, floral esters, and fresh-cut grass.
The mouthfeel of the beer is astringent and crisp.
The body of the beer is medium, medium carbonation, and a medium-plus finish.
I have drunk quite a few NEIPA. This beer is average. I taste the citrus but is not juicy like Treehouse Brewing beers. The beer does lack harmony, in my opinion. The malt backbone is kind of flimsy. There is a weird flavor that is something I have not to encounter before it is a cross between fruit, pine hops, and phenols. An average beer, nothing spectacular.

Straw filtered with little carbonation and 3 fingers of off white head.
Smells of floral and fruity pears.
Tastes of fermenting fruit from the ground, rotting flowers and half in tact pears with coriander.
Light body with a tannic finish and little carbonation.
I got this in Coeur D' Alene, Idaho and am drinking it in Redding, CA, Oct 19th, 2019. This was on a shelf at Grocery Outlet, perhaps contributing to its state.

i like that this has some bitterness to it, more than others, still a juice bomb as they go, but a little more bite and snap to the finish, which is a nice feature for one of these to have. its relatively hazy, deep yellow colored, dense looking, with a sturdy white head from the tap, but not so thick as to be a turn off. it smells like citra to me, that slightly sweet lemon curd thing i often get from citra in a dry hopping context like this, the mosaic is obvious as well, this hop combination will always be awesome, but on its own its getting a little tired, so i am glad for the bitter simcoe and chinook here. the flavor is like the nose, the lighter fruitier hops come first, the more intense higher alpha ones a little more toward the finish, which is a nice trajectory for this to have, and its all very fresh. there is just a little bit of that over hopped greenness here, but not enough to slow me down much, and for it looking kind of viscous, its not real heavy to drink, aided by nice carbonation and a relatively dry finish. i certainly dont think this is in the upper echelon of the style, which is what its current ratings would suggest, but its definitely one of the better of these i have had in idaho so far, and i think they did a pretty good job of it. also, there is either a citrus milkshake version of this thats fruited and grossly sweet, or there is some serious batch variance here, i suspect the former...
