Notes / Commercial Description:
Leon is a big beer. So big, it has twice as much malt as any other beer we brew.. On top of the copious amounts of two row barley, Munich, Victory, Chocolate, Black Patent, and Caramel 80 malt in this beer each 15 barrel brew has 50 pounds of freshly in-house handmade marshmallow fluff as well as 16 pounds of bittersweet bakers chocolate, and 30 pounds of crumbled graham crackers. Leon clocks in at just over 80 IBUs and 11.6% ABV. Does it taste like a Smore’s? That’s for you to decide, but either way this is one fun beer to make, not to mention drink.

1/27...bomber pours all out black. Thick as midnight, light rings of brown foam. Thick coffee nose, picks up the graham crackers too. Rich robust flavor, as kinds of tastes. Dark chocolate, coffee, milk, and the smore tastes are there too (but only b/c I am looking for it). The depth of flavor masks the alcohol, but it is in there. The result is outstanding.

22 oz bottle, 1 year old. Pours black with tall, long lasting, creamy, beige head and lovely carbonation. Aroma is of toasted malt, cacao, bread crust, some hops and alcohol. Body is medium and slightly crisp. Taste is of nutty, toasted malt, coffee, vanilla, chocolate covered cherries, brown sugar, dark fruit and herbal hops. Finish is long, semi-dry. Nice dessert brew.

A: The beer is very close to being jet black in color. When held up to a bright light, the corners of the glass are very dark red in color. It poured with a short tan colored head that hardly died down and consistently left a short head covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark malts, chocolate, and licorice are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell, except that the licorice flavors are a bit stronger. Only faint hints of bitterness are noticeable, but there are just enough underlying hops to prevent and sweetness from the heavy malt base.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied and a little smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. No warming is perceptible.
O: This beer is extremely drinkable considering its strength because it masks any traces of alcohol from the taste.
