Canned 3/11/20
Pours a large fizzy 2 finger head that fades semi quickly, low retention, very hazy cloudy orange-golden wheat straw color

Nose brings lots of doughy yeasty hefe out front, creamy doughy wheat, a bit of baking bread and yeast, then tropical kicks in, it brings lots of pineapple and an almost Brett C like funk, generic fruity esters mixed in, with some light phenol spices, a little candy sweetness and touch of banana

Taste brings tartness with some citrus, lemony like, with a bit of acidity, then pineapple, tart pineapple and again hints at like Brett C character, a little yeasty with more bread, doughy wheat, some citrus acid, pineapple rind, more fruity esters with citrus and a touch of banana, actually more banana as it warms, hint of phenol spices, dry, very dry finish with more acid notes and tropical fruit mixed with banana

Mouth is med bod, carbonation is strange, at first is seems like almost none, then a lot comes out and gets tingly, a bit of acidity

Overall interesting beer, not a huge hefe profile as it almost seems like they found Brett C and then decided to add pineapple to mask it, pineapple doesn't come off too strong either but the acidity really goes up which is not something I want in a soft creamy hefe

As advertised, but pineapple doesn't necessarily mesh well with a hefeweizen. It was a well made beer but tropical fruit just doesn't jibe with bananas and clove for me

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a bright golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is full of bananas, some pineapple. Taste is banana up front, pineapple in the background. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a refreshing and solid beer.

Orangish yellown in color with a hazy hazy. Poured with a moderate off-white foam with low retention. Light wheat, sweet bubble gum and sweet pineapple syrup aromas. Medium bodied with effervescent, high carbonation. Wheat malt and fruity, sweet pineapple flavors with bubble gum and sweet banana. Acidic, assertive carbonation through the middle followed by sweet banana and bubble gum. Finished with lingering sweetness and light wheat malt flavors that slowly fade. Decent esters that are balanced by assertive, lighly acidic carbonation. Pineapple character comes across as artificial and syrupy, but adds a bit of character nonetheless. Pretty easy drinking and flavorful.

Light golden colored beer with a thin white head. Slight scent of pineapple and flavor the same with some pineapple sweetness. Something wasn’t great about the taste. Decent carbonation and a medium/thin feel on this beer. Ok.

Looked like a hefe, smelled like a hefe, tasted like a hefe. . . although I found it very hard to find any reference to pineapple.

Still, not a bad beer. Just didn't come through with the pineapple.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass

L: Clear golden pour... 1.5 fingers of white head. Reasonable lacing.

S: Pineapple/citrus dominates... some grain in the background.

T/F: The hefe base is lacking... more of a wheat with some grass and citrus. Pineapple is not as dominant as expected from the smell but still overpowers a bit. There's an unpleasant flavor in the background... something almost chemical/solvent that comes in mid-swig that really takes away. Makes it taste almost fake. Body is fairly light... well carbonated. Finish is mild pineapple and that same off flavor.

O: This one didn't really work for me. The idea of mixing pineapple with a hefe isn't a bad one... and this smells reasonably okay but the flavor was just not that appealing.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. Sampled on August 23, 2016.

The pour is yellow with no head to speak of. Moderate clarity.

They promise pineapple and they deliver. That is the main sensation in the aroma. But it is not the hoppy pineapple you might prefer. It is more like pineapple fruit juice. Toasted malts underneath.

Light body.

Like the aroma the taste highlights the pineapple juice flavor and the ending is fruity with a very mild almost inconsequential bitterness.

Undated bottle into pint glass. Pours a hazy amber with a thin white head. Initial impression is Summer Shandy with a little more character. Yes, it tastes like pineapple. Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium. Carbonation, too. Finish is quite smooth with a hint of pineapple. Not too bad but not a hefe.

The pineapple must mask any semblance of a the Hefewiesen yeast. I had it a tasting with the brewer so that was what they were after. Not sure why you would call it a hefe if it has no Banana or clove. The beer was also fermented cold to subdue the yeast. Not a bad beer, but not a hefeweisen. If they had called it a pineapple wheat it would have been rated higher.

I have had very little Pineapple beers but usually they are light and refreshing. A Hefeweizen base would be great also.
A - As expected bright yellow and hazy but the head is good over an inch that takes a while to dissipate.
S - Very fruity but not sickeningly sweet smelling as some pineapple beers I have had. Very fruity with the base of the beer.
T - Slightly dry with very mild fruity pineapple flavor. Hefeweizen base is pretty good balanced with the fruit flavor.
M - Light but dry easy to quaff back.

Overall not as sweet as I expected for a pineapple beer but still a good offering for the Evil Genius. Love picking up there offerings now they always seem to have something new like Du Claw!

I thought it was a very light hefeweizen. Overall I like it. It has a really light and I mean light pineapple aftertaste. I do enjoy how light it was. For it having a 5.5 ABV you would think it had much less. I would definitely buy it again.

Taste is Belgian spice, wheat, banana, and light pineapple juice that comes out on the end. The pineapple flavor actually works pretty well with the beer as it does not overwhelm the taste. It adds a nice, sweet, and citrusy end. I prefer more traditional hefes, but applaud the creativity. I would get this again.

I enjoyed this bottle from an oversized wine glass chilled.

The color is a golden sunrise shade with thick haze and thin white head with fine bead and visible carbonation. The smell is slightly phenolic with a mild yeast aroma and fruit ester with spice note. The feel is okay - very crisp and highly carbonated with low sweetness and dry light finish.

The taste is good with a slight tangy tropical and tannic tinge with light wheat and spice aspect from yeast with light alcohol flavor with dry tangy finish. Overall this is okay but not he best way to enjoy pineapple -it seems like the sugars of the fruit were fermented out giving this a dry champagne-like but not quite sour quality

I Love Evil Genius B.C.! I only recently realized that they are headquartered here in PA, while their beers are being produced in CT for the time being. I am continuing to divest myself of these pesky bottles, but I will make the odd exception.

I popped the cap on this bottle with some care as I had noticed some slight sediment built up on the kick and since this is a "Pineapple Hefeweizen" and not a "Kristalweizen" of any sort, I wanted everything back in suspension. This also meant a more gentle pour than I might have wanted, simply because I was afraid that CO2 might have reentered suspension, also. Sure enough, I was initially seeing a lot of foaming until it finally settled into two fingers of foamy, bone-white head with decent retention. Nose was interesting, in a tropical fruit way. It was a banana ester-forward version of the style, which I generally eschew in favor of a clove-forward version, but here, it was muted by the pineapple. Color was a cloudy Yellowish-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Mouthfeel was thin, kind of watery, but that seems to go hand-in-hand with the style. The taste was odd, not banana or pineapple, but more like marshmallow! I was put in mind of Berlinerweisse with woodruff syrup added. Finish actually had a pineapple aftertaste, which was a decent alternative to bananas. It did not make me a convert, but it added another oddball to my inventory and I might lay it on company that professes not to like the taste of beer.

Had a sample at SN Beer Camp Philly

A-Pours hazy gold with a small white head that left decent lacing.

S-Aroma is citrus, some pineapple and floral.

T-Taste is sweet with some acidic tartness. No pineapple.

M-Mouthfeel has a medium body, crisp finish with good carbonation.

O-Just an average hefeweizen with a light pineapple smell that is more present then it tastes.

- Pineapple Hefeweizen.

A: Fizzy, sudsy diary cream white head is slight in size and weakly holding, dissipating over a pale orange colored body with a slight lemon tint upon backlighting. Good clarity shows a equally good rush of micro-effervesce.

S: Aroma was laid back tart pineapple, with only a average sense of excitablity, and virtually no sense of hefe-yeast.

T: Flavor was freshly sliced pineapple with some mango-orange fruitiness and a hint of banana yeastiness. Lighty dry pineapple finish.

M: Decent carbonation factor and body fullness, syrupy texture, bite of minearlity upon the swallow.

O: Overall, when cold the pineapple influence is more dominant, as it warms the hefeweizen yeastiness tends to show itself a bit more. It really didn't deliver on my expectations per the pineapple factor, nor the hefeweizen factor (full disclosure i am a fan of pineapple, so whether this caused me to rate this harder (or possibly more lenient, could be a factor) and i do like hefeweizens per style, this tended to trend in the swallow waters of complexity, and wasn't as bold or daring as it could of been. Doesn't really stand out as a try, tick, or refreshing choice per style or by itself. A C rated effort beer at best, expected a bit more from a brewery called Evil Genius. boring.

Pours a clear straw that is effervescent. The half finger of head dissipated quickly. Pineapple notes are found in the nose along with the typical yeast funkiness. This offering is very light-bodied. Wheat taste is upfront in the flavor profile with the pineapple coming on near the end. The finish has a little hoppiness to go along with the lingering sweetness from the pineapple.
