Date tasted: July 18, 2013 ... Glassware: weizen glass... Occasion: fourth 90+ degree day--and looking for a beer to soothe and satisfy....Appearance: hazy golden body that clouds thickly; zero lacing and swiftly settled head don't endear this beer aesthetically... Aroma: some strong bubblegum and clove aromas; some banana and some astringent yeast... Palate: light to medium bodied; substantial enough to be considered in the mouth...Taste: mildly flavored of smoked cloves and some banana, but overall rather refreshingly clean and clear of obstructive taste... Overall: this beer didn't "lure his prey" quite as aggressively as hoped for; a serviceable hefe that cools the drinker but does not reward him; a safe choice....

On tap in a pint glass (?).

A- Hazy golden-orange color. 1-finger white head that fades to a thin film. Little lacing, lively carbonation.

S- Wheat and malts, banana, clove. Not much yeast.

T- Some citrus and floral, spice too. Now the yeast comes through.

M- Highly carbonated as expected, tingly. Smooth, not thin. Dry finish.

O- Not bad except for a bit of a chemical taste that I pick up.

On tap at Prohibition Taproom.

Poured into a 16 oz. nonic pint glass.

Appeareance: Cloudy, darkish yellow with almost no head whatsoever.

Smell: Very strong, nice smelling hefeweizen aromas. Lots of bananas, cloves and some bubble gum. Wheaty malt aroma as well.

Taste: Sweet and yeasty with loads of bananas and cloves. Taste was a little lacking in my opinion. It was perhaps not wheaty enough for me,

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. It was 90+ yesterday and I was looking for something light and refreshing to drink and Hunchback hit the spot.

Overall: A fairly run-of-the-mill hefeweizen but still worth trying if you see it. I had never had Evil Genius before and was happy to give them a shot.
