Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Has a plain silver bottle cap for beer cap aficionados. The appearance is a translucent, deep, dark brown color with a small white. The aroma is full of roasted malt and yeast. The flavor follows the aroma and has a nice roasted malt flavor. A fairly good spiced herb beer.

I am continuing to weed through my seemingly interminable backlog here at Chez Woody, some of which includes bottles, preventing me from getting to the all-important CANs. This was yet another procurement from The Friendly Greek Bottle Shop, in case you wondered.
I Pop!ped the cap and began an aggro pour which resulted in close to three fingers of dense, deep-tan head with reasonable retention. Nose reminded me of a dunkelweizen, with notes of banana and clove. Interesting! The label mentioned "Ale brewed with spices" and I wonder if my inadvertent aging did not have an effect on it. Color was Copper-Brown (SRM = > 17, < 22) with NE-quality clarity. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but close. The taste was cinnamon spicy with milk chocolate undertones. I did get the banana flavor on the extreme finish, though, so I stand by it. Once again, the inclusion of spices rendered it fairly dry. This was a really nice beer and my aging did not seem to have had much of an adverse affect.

2/26...tested in a mix a six. Pours dark brown, deep reddish hints with white foam layers. Cinnamon/nutmeg smell, some cherries. Cloves. Taste is light, almost watery, malty sweet spiced back. Light mouthfeel. A touch too sweet though.

Ow no this beer apparently is heavily spiced with anise (licorice)
A - Nice clear amber brown red hue with a 1/2 inch of opaque colored head.
S - Yep from the nose heavy licorice, molasses, and coffee roasts.
T - Not bad the licorice isn't overbearing with mild faint notes of cinnamon. Coffee roasts and sweet molasses too.
M - Kind of light for a winter warmer.
Overall I guess its not terrible just not what I want in a winter warmer.

Pours a dark amber color with a nice amount of fluffy white head. The scent is of toasted malt, bread, and notes of coffee and molasses. The taste is of toasted malt, spices, molasses sweetness, and notes of coffee with a mild hop bitterness. Full body and crisp feel with a clean finish.

12 ounce bottle, poured into a pint glass
Appearance: Pours a very pretty, clear, deep, dark brown color with a quarter of a finger of white head that dissolved into a thin halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass and formed wispy clouds that partially covered the top of the beer.
Aroma: Very roasty and malty up front, with strong notes of freshly baked dark bread, coffee, molasses and licorice.
Taste: A lot like the aroma. It has lots of roasted malt and coffee flavors, balanced with some brown sugar or dark molasses-like sweetness. The beer finishes with some very assertive spices of star anise or wormwood, imparting a very strong licorice flavor that I don’t like.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied to slightly chewy. The beer has hardly any carbonation what-so-ever, and with an ABV of 5.7%, there is no presence of alcohol on the palate.
Overall: This is an interesting beer, with some nice roasted flavors, but there’s too much licorice flavor in it that actually turns me off. If you like licorice, you’ll like this beer, but if you don’t, like I don’t, I recommend that you pass on it.
