From notes on 05/13/12:
Growler straight from the nanobrewery; Poured in a pint glass.

A - Over an inch of white carbonated head that recedes pretty quickly to a thin ring for the entire session; Pale gold in color with a slight haze and visible carbonation bubbles rising to the top of the glass; Not too much lacing left behind

S - Yeasty/bready notes with some spicy and herbal hops; Touch of citrusy lemon zest, apple, and grains

T - Plenty of bready, biscuity and grainy flavors, accompanied by a bit of sweetness; Similar to the nose, citrusy lemon and light apple/grape flavors are present with a subtle hop bitterness coming through; Overall taste is somewhat spicy, minty, and lightly herbal as well - hop flavors are pleasant, though not the dominating feature here

M - Good amount of carbonation; Light to medium bodied; Crisp mouthfeel and goes down pretty smooth and very easy; Leaves the mouth fairly dry with light lingering syrupy sweetness

O - This is a fine example of a tasty and easy-drinking Kolsch from a brand new nanobrewery on the outskirts of Richmond. I had been waiting to try some Midnight brews for awhile, and this offering didn't disappoint and is quite nice for the warmer weather we've enjoyed lately. I'm looking forward to trying more of Midnight's creations and hope to see continued success and growth!

Golden color like an AAL. Minimal head. Aroma is slightly floral and malty. Taste is light and clean with sweet malts, light fruity touches and a hop feel that is in the background. Balance is nice and finish is slightly sweet and very clean

Excellent light beer. Brewer refers to this as his "lawn mower" beer. The proper name is "New Beginnings" and appeals to the traditional light beer drinker. Very smooth and is complemented in the summer with non-traditional flavors when run through a randall. If you are in the Richmond, VA area come visit us.
