Oohhh, I can give .25's now. Sweet!

Bottle says "always decant Cranker's beer into a pint glass." Alright, it's going into my new Samuel Smith's imperial pint, a nice vessel.

A- 1-finger off-white head develops with a normal pour. VERY clean, golden body with really light carbonation. Head becomes a thin foam that leaves pretty good stick on the glass.

S- Hmmmm. Initially, there's a hoppy punch followed by a malty sweetness. Hops are citrus, grapefruit maybe. Malt/yeast is hard to place. Fruity? Tropical? After sipping, it might even be the aspirin-like component. Warmth brings more of the citrus and tropical fruits, getting quite pleasant actually.

T- Grainy, cereal malts. Aspirin, herbal, medicinal hops. Hops get a little biting.

M- Moderate body. Quite the hop bite.

O- It's my first experience with what I believe to be a pretty new brewery. Like some other startups, it's a little rough around the edges. Serviceable enough (Read: not a drain pour). Not something I'm going to rush out and buy either. I'd like to revisit their offerings in a few months and see where it's going. It seems to have potential.

I've long felt a college town in MI needs brewery. I'm glad Cranker's stepped up for Big Rapids.

Nice to see a brewery up in BG getting their stuff out around the state.Pours into a standard pint glass an orange tinged lighter golden with a half finger white head settles pretty slowly.Boozed infused sharp citrus rind in the nose along with caramel biscuit malts, pretty big alcohol presence for the ABV.The flavors have alot of the same attributes of the aromas with sharp pithy citrus rind and sweet booziness playing a major role, some more leafiness comes thru in the finish. The mouthfeel is mellow and nice but the flavor and aroma profile I think needs a little tweaking.

Mahogany brown in colors it have solid inch of beige head. Not a lot of light gets through. Appearance seems a bit off for an IPA, but still an attractive brew. Heavy lacing. Aroma is a very welcoming blend of primarily pungent tropical and citrus hops. The flavor is definitely more tropical than citrus, but is fairly pleasant. The mouth is a bit sticky and chewy. Not a typical IPA, but worth trying.

I am at Cranker's Restaurant on 68th St.

It is at the 68th St exit on US131 south of Grand Rapids, MI.

I am quite impressed with this IPA.

Great Piney flavor.

Two finger head.

Really easy drinking beer.

Nice warm feel in the back of the throat.

I would buy it again.

Pours golden with a slight haze from the residual yeast. Two-inch, off-white, persistent head formed and settled at about 1/4 inch. The nose has distinct pine-notes along with citrus notes that may have overwhelmed the malt notes. Medium-light body, albeit a little shorter palate than expected. Nice hop flavors intermingled with pine and herbal notes towards the finish. The malt notes on the palate are also subdued by the hop flavors and bitterness. Nice carbonation level. Belgian lace does form. The ABV is not noticeable. In sum, very decent and a pleasure to drink, but not an IPA to seek out.

Very solid beer that despite a little nose biscuit which would suggest otherwise, had a touch of spiciness entwined with the normal pine and citrus. Looked fairly normal, not too bad a head but not a lot of retention or lacing either. My only other knock on it (and likely the biggest knock) was that it was pretty thin in the feel. Don't' get me wrong, it was a well balanced IPA, just thin as heck on the finish.

I picked up a bottle of Cranker's Professor IPA a couple days ago for $1.79 at The Lager Mill. Cranker's just started bottling, I have been to the restaurant, but I've never had any of their beer, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date, but I know it's pretty fresh. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into an imperial pint glass.

A- The label is ok, but it's not eye catching. It poured a fairly clear golden color that took on some amber hues when held to the light with a fingers worth of white head that quickly faded to a thin ring that left hardly any lacing. This is an average looking beer, the head and lacing were disappointing.

S- The aroma starts hoppy with some floral and citrus hops, the citrus sticks out the most imparting a nice mango, nectarine, and a slight grapefruit aroma. After that comes the malts which show up nicely and provide nice balance while imparting some grainy and sweet caramel aromas. This beer had a good aroma, I have no complaints.

T- The taste is pretty similar to the aroma and it starts off with the hops which are a 50/50 mixture of floral and citrus hops, they stick out evenly but are slightly light for the style. Next comes the malts which have a lower amount of sweetness and impart some grainy and slightly caramel flavors. On the finish there's a medium amount of bitterness and a grainy and slightly floral hops aftertaste. This beer tasted OK, but it was a little too balanced for the style, I could go for more hop flavors.

M- Pretty smooth, very crisp, on the lighter side of being medium bodied, with a higher amount of medium carbonation that was pretty damn prickly. The mouthfeel was pretty average, it was just too damn prickly.

Overall I thought this was an ok beer and a slightly above average example of the style, it was going in the right direction but it didn't have that extra hoppy flavor that It needed. This beer had ok drinkability, it was fairly smooth and the flavors kind of held my attention but the prickly mouthfeel would prevent me from drinking a few of these in a row. What I liked the most about this beer was the aroma, it was good and true to style. What I liked the least about the beer was the mouthfeel, it was just too prickly. I might buy this beer again, but I would much rather have a Two Hearted, it's worth a try if you really like the style. All in all this was a decent American IPA, but it lacked refinement, it's ok. I'll be interested in seeing what other brews Cranker's have to offer.

Had to give look a 1 because f gone excessive head. A clean an ringed 16 oz pint glass over flowed before a 12 oz bottle could be gently poured into it

Bought a bottle of this on a whim. Overall nice balanced beer not too harsh not too light. Smells of malt, citrus, and hops. The taste goes along with the nose. Malt, citrus, and hops. It's also a little spicy on the finish. It's pretty easy going down as well. Overall a nice pleasant non-overpowering beer.

Crankers Brewery Professor IPA.

First brew outta these guys. Picked up randomly and hoping for the best but as always, expecting the worst. Let's see what we get.

Look - Pours a very diluted and murky looking copper with a massive frothing head that forms like a behemoth with destructive tendencies. Carbonation is hard to read though you can pick out bubbles here and there. Head has thus far retained pretty damn well and the start of lacing is already starting to appear at the top of the glass . Lacing stuck around though it wasn't as prevelant as I had hoped. Either way it is a great looking brew. 4.5.

Smell - Big tropical banana on the nose with a moderate dosage of maltyness to meet it smack dab in the middle. Kind of like that banana you smell in most stone beers except it isn't overly ripe and instead at the peak of its life cycle. 4.25.

Taste - Due to the extreme similarities in beer quality and flavor, I'm going to compare this to ( Insert stone heavily hopped beer here ). Big perfect bananas initially with a light though very easily noticeable dosage fresh squeezed mango.Hops cut off on the swallow and form into a big, and I mean bigggg and very pleasant maltyness that leaves your mouth feeling like you just ate fresh baked rye bread. Finish is almost spicy in nature though without feeling like they relied too much on the malts to spice things up. Either way, this is a damn tasty beer. 5 .

Feel - Body is very full and coats the mouth along with heavy, though not stinging carbonation. The creamyness is all there. Flavors become a bit muted as the beers sits and you inhale. Swallows easy. 4.25.

Overall - With all the flavor they manage to pack into 6.6% you'd think this was a 9%>. One of the best tasting brews I have ever had. And while not all the categories lived up to the amazing flavor profile thus and so it may not score all that massively, you should definitely pick this one up of you see it. $2.49 a single never tasted so good. 4.75..
