This imperial IPA pours to a large, pebbly white head on a clear, slightly effervescent deep-gold body; head retention is moderate and lacing is excellent, consisting of sticky slabs and caverns. The nose is medium in intensity: a nice, bright blend of pineapple, citrus and spicy florals, with a hint of funk and very slight alcohol overtones. Up front, the palate is bitter pineapple with a nice grassy character to boot; mid-palate the pineapple becomes juicier and is joined by the citrus notes from the nose, some weedy florals and a hint of soapiness. The bitterness builds to medium-strong for the style, and the readily-discernable bready malt foundation has a slight caramel character. The finish is slightly soapy/grassy, and the linger is a medium grassy bitterness that lingers for quite awhile. Retrogustative olfaction is celerylike. Mouthfeel is on point for the light-medium body, and the texture is medium-creamy and slightly peppery from the restrained carbonation. This beer is aptly-named; there is negligible alcohol character in both the aroma and the flavor despite the 9.6% ABV. Caveat bibitor. (growler)

Appearance: Arrives copper colored and relatively clear; an inch of foam caps the bear and leaves a few strands

Smell: Lemon, grapefruit and pine tones with a hint of caramel

Taste: Lemon and grapefruit citrus flavors jut out, with the caramel building a underneath; rather bitter, through the middle, with a piney cast; somewhat dry, in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Enjoyable but not at the top of this brewery's IPA list, to my palate

Poured on-tap at the brewery and served in a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, caramel-copper coloring, with a foamy, clingy, fluffy, off-white head. Nose of lemon grass, grapefruit, pepper, and pine resin. Flavors are crisp and citrus forward, with a solid blend of lemon, grapefruit, and orange, all on a caramel backbone, with a solid dose of cedar and pine vinous hops. Full bodied, with a bitter and tart citrus aftertaste. Smooth, slow, dry finish, with a resinous linger. This is a solid brew.

Look: It pours golden and clear. It has an off white head. Head retention is very good.

Smell: It has pine aromas with a bit of grapefruit. It has a very low level of resin.

Taste: It is quite piney with some grapefruit and grainy sweetness. There are some resinous qualities to it.

Feel: It has a medium body with a bit of slickness on the tongue. The bitterness is a bit sharp in the finish.

Overall, the pine is the dominant flavor with the others really coming in support and providing a bit of complexity.
