Brewed with toasty English malts, herbal and spicy UK hops, and English ale yeast, this well-balanced traditional IPA delivers a complex flavour that stands out from the pack. Just like history's legendary rogues.

Appearance - Pours a dark amber with two fingers of frothy off-white head.
Smell - Toasty malts, floral and spicy hops, orange peel, hint of caramel and light yeast notes.
Taste - Toasty malts with a moderate floral and spicy hop level. Touch of caramel and orange in there as well.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with light-to-moderate carbonation. Finishes with lingering balance of malts and hops.
Overall - An English IPA that displays the holy matrimony of malts and hops. The hops could use just a little more emphasis to make this brew shine.

A little darker since it has moved to Gahan - copper with off white fluffy head and good lacing. Aroma caramel and herbal floral hop. Taste caramel, toffee, toast at the back. Well balanced bitterness. A good UK style IPA.

L- Pours a beautiful slightly copper Golden topped a solid 2 finger fluffy head. Good retention and lots of lacing.
S- Caramel malts and a nice floral hoppiness. Nicely balanced aroma.
T- Mostly identical to the aroma with a little added complexity: Caramel malts and floral hoppiness from before, along with a slight spiciness and a very light kiss of citrus. Beautiful stuff.
F- Nice medium body with a silky low-moderate carbonation. Exactly what one should expect from a quality English Style IPA. The drinkability is very high with this brew.
O- Being on the East Coast of Canada, there are plenty of English Style IPA's, so to be the best one I've tasted... it has to be top notch; well that's exactly how I would describe Rogues Roost IPA. There is so much great flavour and aroma packed into this can, not to mention feel and great looks. If you come in expecting a hop bomb, you aren't going to find it. What you will find is an insanely tasty, expertly balanced brew. Cheers to PEI Brewing Co. on a fantastic beer.

Gahan's EIPA. Coppery with picture-perfect head. Toasty malt with restrained bitter finish. Well-hidden 70 IBUs.

Pours a slightly hazy, light amber body with plenty of off-white soapy head at the top. The aroma is quite delicate, with floral notes, maltiness, and very gentle citron coming through. The taste has a distinct lemony malt tone to begin with, leading into a moderate malty tone and some grassy and earthy bitter hops. Goes down good and smooth. Good, but fairly average for the course.

473ml can - why are some products from these guys labeled 'Gahan' and some 'PEI Brewing' when they get shipped out West?
This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium copper amber colour, with three chubby fingers of puffy, rocky, and chunky beige head, which leaves some splendid webbed lace around the glass as it slowly recedes.
It smells of bready caramel malt, mixed dark orchard fruit, subtle wet forest floor notes, tea leaves, and plain leafy, grassy, and floral hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy caramel, faintly biscuity toffee, wet yeast, overripe apples and pears, well-steeped black tea, a twinge of indistinct citrus, and more leafy, grassy, and weedy green hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite tame in its uninspiring frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, perhaps a small hoppy bitterness clumsily traipsing through the petunias here. It finishes off-dry, the base malt really running the show, directing the other fading esters to their graves.
Overall, a pleasant enough version of this Old World style, with the big acerbic hops of American renown hardly present at all (and justly so). We get lots of that floral, tannic, and grassy character, however, and that's just swell - after all, variety is indeed the spice of life, eh?
