12/9/17: Came in to pick up VSOD and Ryeway, stayed for a Beanorma Gene. Large warehouse space, small stand with large take out varieties, long bar for a few dozen people and many additional tables to serve a large group of people. Place was pretty full with the special release, service was good despite the crowds. Many Revolution varieties on tap. Didn't see the popcorn machine, but will check it out next time I go. Very good local brewer, glad I finely hit the brewery which is closer to my house. Recommend for those who want a variety of good beers.

Vibe was loud, dark, industrial, huge, popcorn machine! Long tables with benches, lots of room for big groups. I saw people bringing in take out food.

Good selection of their brews on tap and in bottles/cans. Was able to get full or small pours.

Service was a bit rushed and inattentive, but it was crowded, so I don't blame them. I did not have to wait long for a pour.

Massive space, but a cool atmosphere with the barrels and huge-wall-covering American flag. Compared to the brewpub, the taplist has always been superior. Service though is a bit more rushed and not as friendly. Still a great place to stop and comes highly recommended.

Visited last winter with a meeting of the Illinois Chapter of the Congress for a New Urbanism. (Full disclosure: I'm on their Board.)
The theory that I've seen confirmed increasingly since this visit by various writers/bloggers is that one of the key ingredients of healthy urbanism is brewpubs and breweries; hence, our meeting here of an unusually high attendance of over 30.

After a long social hour and sampling various renditions of the stellar Eugene and other brews they do not can often (if at all), we had a tour of the facility by an animated employee who obviously loved his job. Interesting. He talked not only about Revolution, but its competition... most of whom are upstarts. Will the cycle be unbroken?

Of course, I rode my bike home (4 miles) on a cold winter night.
But I was a happy man. I proved two key theories in one evening: brewing makes urban life better; and dark beers make winter more tolerable.

I just may do all this again... so the taps can be counted and I get a photo for every brew I taste.
Or, perhaps you do that... as this is taproom and tour is not to be missed.
