Yikes this gets a low score here! I picked it up without looking at reviews first and confess I chose it for the cool can art. Let’s see what I think:
Pours a clear golden amber color. A large billowing head dissipates after about a minute, a light layer of film throughout. Not a bad looking brew.
The nose evokes gooey caramel with a bit of tropical fruit. Light notes of pineapple, mango, and apricot yield fruity tones, however, the doughy and cookie like malt aromas seem to dominate.
The taste opens malt forward, with flavors of caramel and cookie dough. Some juicy flavors emerge, including notes of apricot, light citrus and some tropical fruit. They are balanced by a grassy and piny hops spice that adds a little zing as well as a developing resiny bitterness. There is also a touch of alcohol spice.
Medium to full bodied with a soft, gooey and chewy mouthfeel. A dry finish is complimented by a lingering resiny bitterness. The balance tilts towards the malty side. Not bad for drinkability, although it could have used a little bit more crispness.
I honestly don’t get why the score is so low. Sure it’s not a great DIPA and a bit too malty for the style, but for me it tastes like a poor man’s DFH 90 Minute IPA and has some pleasant flavor.

Tall Tales Brewing Co. "Bonnie & Clyde Double India Pale Ale"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle without production codes or freshness dating
$2 @ Giant, Havertown, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: Definitely a nice looking glass of beer. It's body is a mostly clear golden amber beneath a massive head of frothy off-white that seems to be taking forever to settle. That's OK, I can wait. 9.6% abv and 80 IBUs? Sounds pretty big. Still waiting for the head to settle, the aroma is perfumey/floral (soapy), mildly citrusy, a bit tropical, and a touch piney. On to the flavor as the head has now dropped leaving behind some nice lacing... it's malty and caramelish with some of all of the previously noted attributes included. In all honesty, it's a bit soapy tasting. Odd. There's some sweet malt to it but the bitterness is enough to balance it, although I question the listed 80 IBUs as it doesn't seem that bitter. On the other hand, neither does the 9.6% abv, which is a good thing. It's got enough presence overall that you know you're drinking a strong beer, and there is a touch in the finish but that's it. It finishes dry, piney and woody, and even a bit minty and herbal. In the mouth it's medium leaning towards medium-full in body and gently crisp and then smooth across the tongue with a fine-bubbled, median carbonation. Overall it's on the right track but it hasn't nearly reached its destination yet, in fact, it may not have even left the station.

L-amber in color and very heady
S-can’t place my nose on the smell. Not what did expect. Almost a slight brine smell.
T-kind of how it smells. With a powerful after taste - and not favorable
F-
O - not something I’d drink again. And could not finish this one.

Pours a hazy amber color. 3/4 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of strong spicy hops, citrus hops, floral hops, alcohol, sweet malt, strong grass and a hint of caramel malt. Fits the style of an American Double / Imperial IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a strong bitterness. Tastes of sweet malt, strong grass, strong spicy hops, citrus hops, and alcohol. Overall, good appearance, but aroma and body are dominated by grass and not well blended.

Pours clear, orange-gold in color with one inch head. Taste is herbal, soapy, and medicinal hops with caramel malt. Sweet with dry super bitter finish, medium-bodied with medium carbonation. This beer cannot make up its mind as it alternates between excessively sweet and bitter. Mouthfeel is just off...Really unfortunate and nasty aftertaste. Not a favorite at all...Think I have decided to drain pour this and cut my losses. Just skip this.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. No freshness date. Unimpressive gangster-esque artwork on the bottle.

L: Pours a nearly clear medium golden copper color. Massive massive head... to the point of annoying. Thick lacing.

S: Caramel malts... medicinal. Some spicy and citrus hops.

T/F: Very malt forward... lots of caramel and bread. Very herbal/medicinal. Mild citrus and pine. The hops are a bit unpleasant... not terribly bitter, and a funky offputting aftertaste. Medium in body... overcarbonated and errs on the side of sweetness. Finish/aftertaste has an unpleasant mineral/medicinal quality.

O: Not one I'll ever have again. Did nothing for me, and found it less than drinkable. Hard to mess up a beer with 9.4% ABV, but... here ya go.

Poured into a standard pint glass: color is hazy amber, dense looking, head is off white to light tan with small bubbles and decent lacing.

Smell is lightly malty, a touch bitter some light off notes, hints of sour apple.

Taste is odd and nearly awful: muddled mess of hops, caramel malt and sour apple with light medicinal qualities. Clean fermented flavors and flavorful or even balance malt/hop presence is not here.

Mouthfeel is sharp, biting and not pleasant - drawn out dryness and biting flavor on the tongue.

Overall a poor example of a dipa, or just a poorly executed beer from start to finish: amber ale in color, no fresh hop aroma or flavor. Sorry, but i had to pour this one out.

I am continuing to winnow down my Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody, this time by concentrating on beers from Tall Tales B.C.

From the bottle: "A full bodied India Pale Ale. Robust and malty, with Australian Galaxy hops dominating the flavor profile. A well balanced flavor that is smooth to the palate."

Once more, things began with the Pop! of the cap. The lack of any kind of dating clue caused me to do a very gentle pour into mu awaiting Spieglau glass. an in-glass swirl raised two fingers of dense, foamy, tawny head with good retention. Color was Deep Amber/Light Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. Nose smelled odd, like burnt caramel, but at least it was not redolent with mango chutney and burnt hair! Mouthfeel was medium, but light for a DIPA. The taste was sharp with burnt caramel and tasted like a young English Barleywine that needed time to age. It was not totally bad, per se, but it was poor for the style. With its 9.2% ABV, it could probably age off some of its sharpness, but then the question of aging IPAs arises. The finish had an alcohol burn, rendering it dry, but it just was not making it for me as a DIPA. I have now reviewed four consecutive beers from these guys and each one was found wanting. YMMV. I certainly hope so!

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.
A--Looks nice. Hazy, burnt orange color, thick head that lingers and leaves good lacing.
S--Both hops & malts show up in the nose, nothing special.
T--Bitter. Alcohol overpowers any subtle flavors that may be there.
M--An almost tannic feel, bitter tartness. nice carbonation
O--Not what I was looking for in a DIPA. I was expecting a lot of hoppiness, that never materialized. The alcohol is the feature.
