Pours copper with a pinky of cream colored head. Slightly better than average head retention & lacing

S: Breadyness, malt sweetness, pears & leafy hops

T: Breadyness, dryness, pears, biscuitty malt up front, some mineral & herbal hop bitterness up front. More biscuitty malt, pears & grassy hops as this warms, plus dryness, Finishes dry & grassy

MF: Chewy, low carbonation, nicely balanced

A nice bock, not great. I'm not in love with all the biscuitty malt, but drinks easy enough

This may be the same as the Maibock, but based on the descriptors used that review I made a judgment call...

Nearly a perfect representation of a bock. Maltiness like this is rare in a beer.
They claim to perform a decoction and I believe them after tasting.
Low carbonation and hops presence brings the malty Munich grain right up in my face.
Love it!

a may be guilty here of letting my bottle sit a little too long, a slight vinegar tang possible infection has developed, but the bock itself really doesnt lose a whole lot from it, and frankly, the base beer here is really good, that much is obvious through this little acidic problem, which is on me. nice mahogany color to this, and a real tall just off white head, lots of airy bubbles in it, and phenomenal retention. it smells like nutty earthy toasty warm caramelized german malt, somewhat deeper than a lot of these, copper and more in the dopplebock realm in terms of the malt bill. very classic, almost decadent. the lager yeast in nose and taste is lost in my bottle somewhat due to the acidic infection thing happening, this beer obviously wasnt meant to save for as long as i have. fuller bodied, holds the nutty lower end aspects of the malt nicely, and then a quick finish, less sweet than a lot of these can be. hints of molasses and almond in there, even like a toasted pumpkin seed thing, very autumnal. id like to try this fresh, but even older and a little messed up its still a nice brew. my first from these guys.
