A 500ml bottle with a BB of April 2013. Acquired not too long ago from Trembling Madness in York. The label states that this is brewed with lager malt, and perle and saaz hops.

Poured into a straight pint glass. A pale golden hue with faint haze and plentiful carbonation. Produces a huge head of brilliant white foam with good staying power; this slowly subsides to a surface layer. Aroma of light, subtly grainy malt with notes of leafy noble hops and a hint of earthy yeast.

Tastes of light malt with a crisp bitter finish. Notes of faint grain, spicy noble hops and dry yeast. A restrained, dry bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is light, dry and tingly. Slightly astringent, with an aftertaste of noble hops and yeasty twang.

Superb - might this be England's finest lager? The aroma and flavours are restrained but hit all the right notes - light malt, leafy noble hop aromas and a hint of yeast. The bitterness is nice but doesn't steal the show. An excellent lager, worthy of the name. Well worth sampling if you have the chance.

Served cold from 500ml bottle into pilsner mug.

This is the second time I have had this one, can't remember why I didn't review it the first time but it is 30 degrees today and I can guarantee that I will enjoy it more this time round!

L) Light golden colour, no real head, clear with a few big bubbles coming up.

S) Served cold, so not a lot. Some sourish hints.

T) Again, the hints of sour are in there, followed by light hop bitterness. Very clean overall taste, just what I needed in this hot weather.

F) The bitterness is subtle but there, meaning it is a very easy drinker with just a nice little bite at the end, but no stinky aftertastes.

O) Refreshing lager, well balanced, whack it in the freezer and glug it down in this hot weather and you will be a happy man. Or woman.
