look: 4.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.75 | overall: 4.25

Fresh half-growler poured into fluted snifter/fat tulip; deep orange, almost ruby in the glass. Clear with fine rising carbonation feeding a thick, lasting off-white head made of very fine bubbles.
Smell is very unique...whiskey and fruity hops. A very intriguing combination.
Taste is also unique...wet, clean malt flavors flood the mouth, then before you know it the whiskey flavor is all over the place. Then as you swallow, it tastes like you took a shot of Jack that was made with hops. The fruity hops mingle with the whiskey flavor, and it works very well.
Mouthfeel is again, unique. Clean and wet, but with fluffy carbonation. Alcohol heat is present but there is no alcohol thickness in the mouthfeel.
Overall, this beer is very interesting. I've never had an IPA aged in a whiskey/bourbon barrel before, and I wouldn't have thought the flavors would work together, but they really do, and in fascinating ways. I'm very glad I stopped back in to Endless Brewing after not having been for about a year.
