This beer looks light--very light. Quick-fading, big bubbles over a light yellow body. It smelled honestly like someone had "cut the cheese" while the head was up--and then changed to a stale water aroma. The taste is not offensive in any way, some thin, sweet malt flavor and a clean finish, with mild hops coming through. A drinkable happoshu.

Can purchased in Japan at a 24 hour convenience store. Hoppo-shu or happoshu (beer made with low malted barley content) was created to circumvent some quirky Japanese tax laws.

This beer poured a clear, straw color with fizzy, white foam that settled relatively rapidly and left no lace. There was almost no aroma except for a trace of malt and a hint of hops. The taste was slightly sweet, almost honey like with a trace of a malt flavor. It was not an unpleasant taste at all. The mouthfeel was smooth and clean, but very thin on body, and with only modest carbonation feel. The drinkability was decent, and I finished the can and did not have an urge to pour it out, despite my initial reservations about this type of brew.

A - Transparent light yellow body with big apparent bubbles and a small white head.
S - Extremely light aroma, though pleasant.
T - Extremely refreshing, no bitterness to speak of. Extremely light malt with a nice verve.
M - medium carbonation and light body.
D - No off flavors, light, refreshing. This is a great beer for the beach, bbqs, etc.
