Picked up at bottle in Japan, poured into a goblet.

A: Light golden in color, highly carbonated head that stuck around for a bit.

S: Strong, barley, rice, other grains, slight hops.

T: Grains are very present, especially barley. Hops are also present and malts come through a bit as well. It is quite one dimensional in that the taste is dominated by the strong barley. However I am a fan of these Japanese beers that are dominated by barley (mugi), so this is actaully enjoyable.

M: Light, tingly and carbonated.

O: An enjoyable beer that has a strong barley taste. Stronger flavors than many of the Japanese lagers!

Bought a bottle of this from 7/11 in Saitama, Japan. Poured into a Baird pint glass. The first thing that shocked me was the powerful smell of charred wheat and ammonia, making me unfortunately imagine standing next to a urinal. This overwhelming aroma set off a bad impression for the beer. However, after the initial pour, it subsided and revealed a bit of hops, malt, and rice in the scent. The appearance is light gold, clear, and hosts a frothy white head. Overall, the taste wasn't too bad either, a step below Yebisu or Suntory Malts, but above Kirin's normal standard. This was a good beer for Kirin, but something needs to be done about that first pour, or it just needs to be consumed from the bottle.

First sip and it brought me back to the days when I thought Bud was a good beer. Tasted sour and thin with no complexity at all. A friend brought this back from Japan for me and I was very disappointed. Don't bother with this one, unless you really want to remember what a bad beer tastes like.

one of the better japanese lagers out there, this is a real good one, especially with grilled food. its got a real cool pull top, like old school soda, and has that kind of intense and lively carbonation visible through a crystal clear yellow light bodied beer with a tall white head that eventually settles down. beautiful looking for what it is. the smell and taste are the same, its fresh cereals with generic lager yeast, i mean, its generic for sure, but i get more hops out of the finish than almost any other asian beer ive had, and i also get this nickle metal thing in the finish, not the classic aluminum flavor, but an almost intentional minerality in the clean finish. really delightful, easy drinking beer, that cleans up grilled food, salmon oils, spicy cuisine, all very well. if these types of beers were exported, i think brands like kirin would have a much better reputation, this is really fun stuff, as good as any american macro and then some. ultra fizzy and refreshing with a bit of an alcohol punch. its done real well for what it is.
