Right out the gate I can tell this is probably gonna be the rare positive rating deviation for me. I only say probably because of the price on this. Anyways, pretty pour, purple to pink from a blue and red mixture it seems resulting in a dark amber kind of appearance from all the stuff going on (fruits/red wine barrel). Produces a good size 2/3" off white head. Smells sour, relatively clean, juicy and woody at the same time.

Taste is delicious, I think they call it a flanders red on their label, but wild ale is fine with me, this doesn't have the usual earthy component like many flanders do, this had more of a fruit and sour thing going for it than a traditional flanders. The blueberries and cherries play nice with each other and give the beer a fruity-ness that isn't accomplished with either by themselves.

Where this beer gets problematic is its high price point. Saw it sit for $15/500ml, but when they dropped the price at a liquidation sale, I bought all of this (and hot pants their berliner) I could for $7.50 a bottle. Its a steal at that price, but at more than $1 an ounce, I can't say I would buy it but for the most special of occasions.

woefully underrated here, this is one of the best beers i have had this year, and has to go in the conversation for all time best takes on a fruited wild ale i have ever known. i cant believe folks havent liked this more. thanks to drlovemd87 for sharing this one. what a cool beer, loosely an oud bruin at its heart, but it spends two full years in cabernet wine barrels with blueberries and cherries, and the result is pure genius. its hazy brownish red, indian red maybe is best, with a small khaki bubbly head, a little sediment, and a lot of life. it smells insane, i sniff it for ten minutes before i taste it, it just totally draws me in. heavy wine barrel, tannic and woody, the fruit of the wine and the fruit itself are a perfect marriage, there is the tangy blueberry, the sweet cherry, seemingly both fresh and dried, and there is a lot of it. enough acidity in the mouthfeel to cut any sweetness, a huge depth of grain in the base, an awesome sour brown to start, a ton of oak, and the flavor of the cabernet to finish it off with the lactic sourness and woody funk. this is deep, it is complex, and it is stunning. enormously delicious fruit, you get the fresh blueberries and the cherries both, and just the right amount of sourness. rich and regal, not all the way dry, but it doesnt need to be. a cozy bit of alcohol warmth at the end, jammy preserved fruit, heavy robust red wine, its absolute dynamite. has the funk of a classic lambic in here too. i have loved most of the tohoe mountain beers i have had, but this has to rank tops among them. absolutely primo!

Tahoe mountain makes amazing light sour saison/fuited beers. This is very different and unexpected. Very dark, the berries come through on the nose and in the flavor, but the beer weighs on my taste buds and doesnt flow like i want a flanders too. Adequate

Caramel brown color, with a thin head. Juicy blackberry, tart raspberry, and dark cherry notes on a lightly soured and oaky finish. a refreshing, sweet and juicy beer.

The beer is a ruddy brown color, clouded over. Beige and creamy, the head sticks prettily to the walls of the glass. The aroma has a tangy, rich Flemish red flavor with lots of fruit and oak. There are cherries, raspberries, plums and some citrus zing. Mild caramel underneath, which is very well integrated. Rich vinous note. Firm oak with a little buttery background. Very good barrel character. There’s also earthy, mushroomy funk lurking in the background and creeping more into view as the beer warms. The taste is moderately sour. Tangy finish with some dry oaky flavor. Medium-light body with a little slickness. Carbonation is a touch prickly. Easy to drink. I didn’t have the highest hopes for this beer, but it’s a very good example of the style and quite tasty.

A: Malt mixed with moderate acidic sourness, gives a vinous aroma. Fruitiness of sour cherries is noticeable.

A: Clear deep brownish-red color with moderate head retention.

T: Well balanced with the malty flavor, complementing the sour cherry notes and sourness.

M: Med- bodied with moderate carbonation. Drinks light with a slight astringency.

O: Better than I expected, on draft this beer is smooth with a complex marriage of malt, sourness and cherry notes. Solid take on a Flemish Red.

A - Pours a brown body with a light khaki one finger head. Not much lacing or retention to the bubbly head.

S - Sour on the nose. Malt, acidic tones, balsamic vinegar, sour cherries and may'be a little blueberries.

T - Very balanced taste... A great mix of cherries & blueberries, malty base, acidic and balsamic vinegar. Really follows the nose well, though it seems a bit amped down.

F - Light bodied and medium carbonation. Has a dry finish.

O - Great nose, but the taste seems a bit watered down. Overall it's solid.

Wow absolutely amazing. Pours a dark brown/red look. Smell was great, with a little bit of acid, vinegar, chocolate, cherries, blueberries, oak. Taste was fantastic!!! Lactic acid, cherries, then finishes with blueberries and an American oak, vanilla taste. A bit smokey at the end. Mouthfeel was high carbonation but a nice thick mouthfeel at the same time. Very enjoyable full bodied sour! Totally recommend this one. $18 for the bottle.
